Samsung LED TV Series Dxx6xxx NO FULL HD IN 3D Mode - Page 3

Are we talking all screen sizes on the D6 series? I'm in the market for a 40-46" set and the D6 was on the top of my list -now I'm a little concerned. I've read through the posts, but is this an isolated issue? I've seen so many good reviews on the 3D quality that I was surprised when I saw this thread.

I tried the test image on my Plasma D6500, and the picture was blurry in vivid mode. But seemed normal when switched to any of the other picture modes.

Idk if you guys tried changing the picture mode when viewing the test pic, but it worked for me. But I do have a plasma and not led so IDK....

@GAN18

All sizes are affected. 55" and 60" not so strong and 32" and 37" stronger than all others but the cheat is visible on all sizes.

@RJ253

Only the LED-devices from D6000-series are affected.

Thanks for the update FLASH.... now just to figure which direction to head with my search

The ironic thing is, back in July b4 i made my D6400 purchase, i had for a very short duration, <30days, owned a LG 55LW5600, a passive 3d, which doesn't resolve 3d in 1080p.

The whole time Samsung had been disputing LG's claim for resolving 3D in FULL HD/1080P(on their 'Passive' sets), and i took the LG back to get this particular set, which boldly displayed, at both their website & on the boxes @ the retail outlet, "2d & 3d in Captivating Full 3D 1080P". Had I known now what i knew back then I would've opted for the Sony XBR-729 instead.

The best quote from a user(derfuxx86) on this site is from p.73:

Yes, I suspect it will come in nothing more, except for a few lucky individual cases in which the dealer will show goodwill but rather, as Samsung. It takes all too long now. Had one been decided for the customer positive exchange or similar action, it would run long ago. Samsung has calculated for that it would be far too expensive, because the TV has sold well in advance. Samsung will continue to insist that there is no accepted standard that advertising was not false and thus it may arrive at a court can clarify that is not coming. Above all, we agree with the plaintiffs out of court again and it comes out no opinion, which then can rely on everyone else.

Image will be able to cope with the damage it because it always by far the strongest in the market, put out the Top products can continue to sell well and the few customers ever experienced something of this mess.

I think it will run.

For our friends abroad, we have a retailer here in the USA called "Fry's Electronics" and in their ad today it features a UN55D6500

Here's the link:
http://www.frys.com/ads/page3
You'll need to scroll down to the middle of ad, as there is also a 46D7000 in the top left of same ad..............

ah hell, here's the pic, the deception continues! Samsung lies to us & the dealers!

Here's a current listing from -SEARS, although if you scroll to the bottom of the description it's dated FEB 2011. This description was pulled from the Samsung website as it had appeared earlier this year, before Samsung's Legal Team had their marketing dept./product team change the wording to the current format, which makes no reference to 3D in FULL 1080P.

Product Description

Samsung UN55D6400 - 55" Class ( 54.6" viewable ) 6400 Series 3D LED-backlit LCD TV - widescreen - 1080p (FullHD) - HDTV - graphite

•Captivating 2D & 3D in Full HD 1080p

Whether you are viewing a premium-quality 2D picture or seeing incredible 3D depth, images are breathtakingly real in Samsung Full HD. Enjoy superb 2D 1080p clarity with Real 240Hz refresh rate technology, deep rich blacks with ultra clear panel and detailed contrast with advanced dimming technology.

Question -hoping for some feedback for someone in my situation(given the fact that the Samsung is probably a pretty hot item in 3D and the time of year -there may be quite a few of us). I'm looking at the Samsung UN46D6500 and the LG 47LW5600 -hope I didn't mess those up. I'm looking for a great 2D experience(probably would be 90% of our usage) and a good 3D experience when I want. It seems the discussion regarding "true 3D HD" is more about the fraud committed and lack of what might be promised or potential 3D performance rather than is this still a pretty darn good 3D set for the money compared to say the LG. Not saying that the difference hasn't been proven -it has in the earlier posts; but would the "average" user even realize if this issue wasn't brought to light.

Given all this, would most say that this issue is glaring enough to make a potential buyer go to the LG? Thanks in advance.

I've owned both sets, in fact, like i've said previously, I owned that very model u listed above from LG, and ended up taking it back because it too failed the Full 3d 1080p-deal, and got the 6400 series(thinking it had no issue with 3d at the time of purchase). Hands down the 6500 is the better set in 2d, and it's a toss up in 3d. If you can't afford the 7000 series then go get the 6500. It's an amazing looking set to be sure.......

The LG's screen is 'matte', and the Sammy is glossy, so depending upon the room you're placing it in, this might come into play. The Blacks are definitely deeper on the Sammy too.

From what i've read the Sony has FULL 3D in 1080P, at least you're in a position to return the 6400 & get the Sony. I purchased mine back in July & I'm still awaiting word whether Fry's will allow me to return it or not..........

Look at these pictures and you will see, that discussions about samsungs cheat are not only "blah blah".
At the right picture (from "Avatar") you can also see the incredible crosstalk. In summary it looks terrible.
Especially on devices with 32" und 37" (the pictures were taken from my 37" device).
I have a 55 inch 6420 and the 3d looks awesome in movies and games, its cool that you guys figured out this resolution problem. But its not a problem in the real world if your seated at the proper distance from your TV it looks baddass so don't let all the negativity in this forum by guys who look at still pictures from inches away from the screen sway you from this TV its awesome period. You will not notice a difference in real world use ie games and movies I'm constantly surprised by this TV maybe I'm lucky and have a great panel. Just my true life experience with my TV.
Wrong! I had a 37" device, bought together with a BD6500-3D-BluRay-player from samsung. Watching the new Shrek-BDs in 3D I was at first angry about the poor rendering quality of these discs. I was sitting 8 ft away from the TV while watching the BDs. Nothing with still pictures or "nose on screen".
Later I found out over internet, that not the BDs were the problem. Switching the BD-player to 2D-output I got a FullHD picture on the TV without stairs and detail loss.
What a want to say in my bad english (I'm german) is, that I at first noticed the problem with the indiscutable poor resolution and afterwards found out, that samsungs cheat was the reason for this displeasure.
How very often was told here and in other boards the 55" devices are not so strong involved by this problem. But the 37"-device with not 800Hz CMR like 7000-series, not 400 Hz CMR like all 6000 series devices above 37" (like yours) but only 200 Hz CMR (means real 100 Hz refresh rate in 2D and only 50 Hz refresh rate in 3D) has because of it's cheap an poor hardware a incredible crosstalk (see picture) and a halved resolution in 3D on left glass and a quarter resolution on right glass.
So, please, don't draw false conclusions from the picture quality of your device to the quality of the smaller screens.
Sucks for you then because I don't get that on my screen watching all the shreks in HD and 3d guess its a big Problem for the smaller TV,s

Here's a draft from a letter I sent to the higher-ups @ Samsung:

I am writing you in regards to my 55D6400 which I had purchased from Fry's last July, after having previously owned & returned a LG 55LW5600. The reason I had taken back the LG is because they had misled me to think I had purchased a fully capable 3d full hd set, which we know is simply not true. Your company was even telling prospective consumers beware of LG's false claims, and to discard their 'passive' 3d and opt for your 'active' 3d technology.

I also found out a few months back, much to my chagrin, that the '6' Series, as well is UNABLE to resolve 3d in FULL HD! Contrary to your website @ the time of purchase & last year's CES 2011 claims & photos. My factory packaging, photos attached, state it boldly too "3d Full HD".

I've been going round & round trying to get resolution on this & I am getting nowhere. I'm hopeful you will be able to assist me in replacing my panel with either a '7' series led or simply getting me a refund.

To this day the retailer I purchased it at, "Fry's Electronics", is still advertising the panel I purchased the D6400 as "Full 3d HD".

I even have a before & after shot of your website, which now just says the '6400 or any other 6 series that does 3d' only does full hd in 2d & experience the wonder of 3d. Please find attached the before & after from your website.

Please let me know what you or your colleagues are able to do for me. I'm getting nowhere with the retailer either & I'm confident you'll be able to resolve this for me or get me to the person that can & not offer me a canned response & further delays.

1 of your reps below had asked me to reply to her e-mail & attach my box photos. My contact information is below. I look forward to your reply & thank you for your time regarding this endeavor.

Well I've now seen a couple of 3D movies on my UN46D6420 and the picture is great in my opinion. No complaints whatsoever.

Samsung delivery guys just dropped off my 7000 & it's a H303! Build date Jan 2012! I let them keep the bogus 4-legged monstrosity & put my D6400 stand on instead. Looks really tight! I gotta run to the store, but when i get back i'll fire it up & hopefully no flashlighting or too much clouding or vertical banding. i'll keep u posted................

btw: this was a free upgrade, samsung replaced my falsely advertised "Full 3d" 55D6400 panel after months of haggling with them..........

Thanks Bri Mtl for having my back & reposting my post(or at least the jist of it) that i had deleted earlier. The reason i deleted it is because i didn't want to say it until it was in my hands & up on the mantle so to speak.

Nice to see someone got a resolution. Wonder how the rest of us will be treated here in the U.S. if we try.
