^^^^^Agreed GWSAT! All 3 of those are just amazing HT experiences from a A/V standpoint.

Watched Transf 3 last night and was completely blown away by the overall audio and video.........Wow! What a HT ride this was and cant wait to buy the 3d copy later this year! FUN!

TF3 is another great test for subwoofers performance but I feel that the LFE was better integrated with rest of the soundtrack & used more appropriately unlike Thor which was loud & bombastic practically from start to finish.

Can anyone help me with something? For some reason on TF3 and TF2 (maybe even another couple movies), my AVR can only go to -6.0db, while other movies I can go beyond 0. I'm not sure what is causing this, but I know I can get it louder, just don't know what I need to change on my AVR to allow me to. Granted -6.0 is very loud and intense; but I want all I can get from my system, especially in movies like Transformers.

LFE is pretty good. The picture quality is the best to date. I can't imagine it getting any better than this. I watched it on 240hz and it's just amazing. With the right equipment, this movie really shines.

Thor and tf3 both have filters filters filtering out the ULF content. Bossobass has charts he has posted showing that they have almost the same sonic signature.

Regards,

I have a Denon 4306. I have all speakers calibrated properly and the channel levels are all around -1 to +1 with my SVS PB13U about -3. I've turned up the internal treble to +4 and bass to +2, but I'm not sure that's a factor because, again, I can go beyond 0 on pretty much every other movie. Thank you for your help.

Ralph: you were right on the money with this film. From the opening credits with the stars circling to the ending speech, a wild HT experience. My 7.1 system was letting loose and a great subwoofer demo. I would like to see the first day sales figures for this film, because when I bought mine, they were flying off of the shelves at BB.. Let me go pick up some tools that fell off of my pegboard in my work area during the film..WOW!!

Didn't bother renting it, as I figured this one was going to be a reference disc. Yup, made the right call on that one. We were just a few minutes in when my girlfriend smiled, looked my way, and said "this is ridiculous." If a person who couldn't care less about A/V is impressed by something, that's saying a lot!

Watched it today. Holy smokes. Awesome audio visual experience and for a huge TF fan such as I am that was just the kicker.

im sure if you covered your receiver's display and the box had mistakenly labeled the movie DTS hd, you would be raving at how good it sounds and wouldn't notice the difference. I think this is the best sounding blu ray I've ever heard and even though the movie was ok, the AQ kept me interested enough to keep watching.

some receivers have a limiter that wont allow you to turn up the volume any louder than what you set it to, do you know if your receiver has it?

Heres my thoughts.
Whatever happened to barricade from the first film? Sam screaming like a girl got annoying. Where were the twins? They could have made a appearence in the 3rd film, or at least killed them right away. The scene where the Xantium was destroyed could have been better. How did Bumblebee become a hostage in the Chicago battle? My favorit part was in Transformers 2 when Optimus Prime ripped the Decepticon's face apart in the forest battle. I wish there were more scenes like that.

I enjoyed all 3 of the movies but i think some of the gaps should have been filled in. And some scenes could have been a little better.

Hopefully deleted scenes or extended edition with the 3D release.

Just finished watching it. Completely blown away by the visuals and audio, this and Avatar have now got to be the best discs to use to show off a home theatre.
Decided to just rent it with BB Movie Pass as I will buy when the full 3D version comes out. We enjoyed the theatrical version but seeing last night at home was very impressive. The 7.1 made it really special and I agree with your rating being "perfect" Ralph. Has there been any others with a perfect sound and video score?
This is the first real workout of my 7.1 sound system, ever! And I've had 7.1 for over a year.

Rented the Bluray from Redbox and watched it last night. Ralph's review was spot on. This film fully deserved the 100% Video and 100% Audio grade it received. The audio and video was nothing short of stunning. It is amazing how crystal clear everything was in spite of massive amounts of action and visuals on the screen at any given time. This disk proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is no excuse for poor audio and video being found in Blueray releases of NEW movies. The technology exists for them to duplicate on the Bluray disk what they presented in the theater as far as the quality of the audio and video goes.

Trasformers Dark Side of Moon is 100% reference and demo Bluray for anyone and everyone who wants to see and show just how good their home theater is.

It is going to be hard passing the single disk version of this movie by and waiting in order to purchase the fully-loaded 2D 3D super delux version of this Bluray movie that is coming later on.

Agreed! Just watched this last night and Ralph's review is spot on(as usual)
This is pure HT nirvana. Avatar and Star Trek 09 now have company as my go to reference discs.
As some above have mentioned about the movie itself, like how did Bumblebee get captured etc, there are some glaring plot holes that are frustrating but certainly nothing that ruins the entertainment for me.

best sounding movie ever. i wasn't going to buy it because of all the negative comments about the movie i'd heard before. and because two was terrible.. but I was at a buddies Friday night who just got a new home theatre setup himself and demo'd this movie and it sounded unreal. so i picked it up Saturday without hesitation and threw it in when i got home just to check it out for a second and didn't get up until it was over. i just was waiting in anticipation to hear what new crazy noises would be around the corner in the next action scene. i am actually probably going to throw it in again shortly. nice cozy hangover Sunday movie.

edit: this movie REALLY makes me want to upgrade from my little baby Energy sub to an SVS Plus I couldn't imagine, sounds amazing as it is.

I found an audio problem in the movie where there is no sound for 6 seconds when playing on Dolby 7.1 TrueHD. I have an Oppo BDP83 player and an Onkyo HT-S6300 system.

On Track 20, from 2:15:04 to 2:15:10, the audio stops working only when playing on Dolby 7.1 TrueHD. When playing on Dolby 5.1, there are no problems. I don't know if it's the BD disc, the Oppo player, or the Onkyo system. I exchanged the movie for another one and it still does it at the exact same time frame.

Other than that, the audio is incredible.

Here are some bloopers that I noticed.
1-When NASA at Langley was talking, in the background there were models of the Saturn 5 and the Saturn 1B rockets, which weren't even conceived back then.
2-When the Autobots were on the moon, the LEM still had the Ascent stage attached. It was discarded after the astronauts returned to the command ship.

For some odd reason, these 2 issues bugged the heck out of me. I really enjoyed the movie otherwise, though.

Here's another huge one: The VLA in New Mexico wasn't even conceived in 1961. It wasn't built till well into the 70's.

I really don't know teckademic, I'll have to check my manual. But if it did, do you know why it would limit some blu-ray's and not others? That would be odd, especially when it's only on a select few movies (TF3 and TF2 for example). Sorry, don't mean to hijack this thread at all, but since I've really only noticed this issue with the TF movies, I thought it may be the best place to post.

Greetings all! I was one who said I was going to rent to give the movie a second chance at considering buying later. But it was hard to walk away from a $20 deal so I bought it. First off, I had a certain disappointment with the audio presentation as there just didn't seem to be that much ooomph. It was good with a very aggressive surround mix and one thing that's a big deal to me is a consistent intelligible dialogue and this movie definitely has it. The thing is, I didn't realize it was Dolby instead of DTS. The past 8 or 9 movies I've viewed have been DTS TrueHD and I've gotten used to it. The end result of it all is next viewing I'll bump it about 5db and all should be as expected.

So having said all of that, I concur with Ralph's assessment. Definitely reference demo material. The one thing about this movie (and all of the Transformers movies) is the fuzzy look of Bumblebee. When he's in vehicle mode there's this very distracting fuzziness with the yellow that isn't there in robot mode and isn't there on any other character that I can tell. Anyone else getting this?
