Thanks for the review Ralph.
I have one criteria for an action film...entertain me...that's it. I don't expect a National Geographic documentary special but I do expect, as others have said, a decent, coherent story line, reasonable acting and great action.

I did enjoy T2...I treat these as a cartoon...
I'll look for Dark of the Moon...thanks again.

Ditto...

I would say...YES!

By the end of the movie I didn't care who lived or died, I just wanted it to end!

Greetings,

Well I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one old buddy..

I had absolutely no intention whatsoever of getting this bd, but I gotta admit your review has me interested in seeing how this would look and sound on my system.
damn your 100 point reviews!

That's my plan. I have LOVED the Transformers since '84 and probably didn't blink once during the first movie, but TF2 ROTF was just plain awful. I loved the third film even though it was a tad long. I saw it when it first came out in theaters and knew it was a must add. It's too bad I can't have the entire trilogy, but I can't in good conscience pay money for TF2.

A 100 is making holding out for the 3D version BD hard but I must be strong

Ralph, will you do a review of the 3D BD when it comes out?
Great News!! that we all received a decent review thanks Ralph!!

I am looking forward to completing my BD series with TF3. I saw this movie originally in IMAX and although it was a bit long it was better than TF2 my opinion which was just as long lol!!.

Bring on the 100 of A/V I am ready to crank it up.

I'm holding out for that too, but only if it has a separate BD disc for 2D.

Hi Ralph

I saw this one in the movies ( Imax), happy to hear about the 100% rating.
Unlike most, I loved all three movies. Good action, serious rebots, and great
looking cars. Its Transformers, relax and enjoy the ride. Can't wait to hear this on my system.

Yea I agree. I can't get enough transformers..the visuals are crazy. Despite the cheesy jokes, etc. I could still watch all three numerous times.

Regards,

Let's hope the 3D version will share the same perfect score, once you have it in your hands.
I'm waiting for the 3D one myself and have high hope that it will become my 2nd reference 3d BR besides Avatar.

I will give it a rent and then purchase the deluxe 3D edition when it comes out later this year. I wonder why they chose to go with the Dolby TrueHD route on this considering Revenge of the Fallen is DTS-HD. This is purely curiosity and not a complaint by any means. It does seem like many Paramount releases lately are getting the Dolby TrueHD treatment.

I'm sure I'm being rhetorical but any idea as to when the 3D will be available?

The press release from Paramount simply states "in the coming months".

Thanks for the review Ralph. I was not expecting this movie to get a perfect score. Now I will definately be buying this movie next Friday. This Sunday's paper BestBuy ad says they will have an exclusive packaging of Transformer 3 for just 17.99. I wonder if there will be any differences from the disc you reviewed vs the one from BB.

No difference other than the packaging.

If anyone buying this does not plan on using the $10 off coupon included for the 3d version coming out in a few months, shoot me a PM as I would love to take it off your hands. Thanks!

Great review Ralph !

You show audio as Dolby True HD ( as do other sources).

Yet, Hi Def Disc News review's source disc is DTS-HD MA 7.1. Click here

They don't state the source of the BD....another country perhaps??

Edit : the review has since been edited and now indicates Dolby THD.

It is most definitely Dolby TrueHD 7.1. Not sure about the source for the review you reference.

There has been rumors that with 3d bundled release in a few months that actually has some extras there will also be a new 2d release with the extra content. It is said this release could have a DTS-MA audio track. Of course this is a rumor but from what the movie industry has done in the past, this wouldn't surprise me.

I'm sure the 3D will have "add value" or double dip content added. While Paramount has been back and forth with TrueHD and DTS MA (even on Transformers) what would be the point in changing what is already done?

I'm interested too. So if Toe already gets one from someone put me down as "backup".

I'm going to get TF3 now also. I enjoyed the movie when I seen it, but with a 100 on both AQ & PQ, this Blu-ray can't be passed up...and what the hell, I already own the other two in DVD. (BTW: Thanks Ralph for the review...that was the little push I needed to justify another BD purchase to the Wife.)

One thing that gets on my nerves is what is the reasoning of these studios bundling the BD with a DVD? I just don't understand this, other than it's a way to charge more for the BD. I mean, if I'm buying a BD why would I need the DVD? I understand the digital copy I guess (but still think this is a waste), but I just don't understand getting a DVD along with a BD. I guess while I'm enjoying my BD of TF3, I can use the DVD as a coaster for my beer.

100 just about says it all. Although I will be upgrading to the 3D version with a $10 coupon, it's hard to pass this up at $18.

OMG...first time I'm seeing 100%
