I loaned my BR to a friend and his first observation was why Ottway didn't have his band fabricate six foot long spears to keep the wolves off of them who were being picked off one by one. Obviously something that the director and the writers never realized versus what Ottway came up with in the film. Maybe that was the result of too much scotch consumption that would tend to blur one's thinking capabilities. Or the writers had already come up with their script and they weren't about to change it. Even given that, the film is compelling to watch IMHO. It is much more than a survival movie.
