Optoma H79 dead - what to do now?

Thread Starter
I have a 5 year old H79 that was just diagnosed with a broken color wheel (which requires the replacement of the engine). How this happened with the projector installed safely and snugly on a ceiling mount is a mystery. Apparently Optoma just EOL'ed the H79 in July and are no longer offering parts or service for it. I hate to pitch it since, A. it was expensive, and B. it had a nice picture. Any suggestions on where to find a new engine?

thanks!

You are far better off getting a new one. By the time you add cost of new parts, shipping and labor (if you have someone put it in for you) it will be high enough to justify grabbing a used newer model or brand new model. At least 1080p projectors can be had for under 1K these days...
