Tray Tables and Arm Storage on Chairs

Hi guys,

I'm trying to narrow down what Home Theater Recliner I want to buy. Originally I was set in stone on a chair with arms that have storage and have tray tables, like the Berkline 12011 or 12003. But it turns out the chair I was most comfortable in, has neither.

For people with them, do you use the tables or storage as much as you expected? Would you have picked a more comfortable chair if given the chance for a do over?

For people without them, do you have any alternatives for places to stow the remote control or hold food?

Thanks
Mike

I have the 12011s and mostly use the pocket to hold the tray tables and lap robes. The pocket is actually too deep to stow remotes comfortably. Besides, I use a Harmony and only need a single remote. Generally keep that one in a cupholder.

The kids use the tray tables for popcorn and snacks. We usually keep one out and never set up the rest. Also, the trays do not mount flat, so stuff has a tendency to roll off. IMHO, you can do better if you have room to put a small table on the end or simply balance the popcorn on the armrest. I would not make the table the top priority.

jayn_j, did you go for the bonded or real leather?? i am planning on buying some 12011 and i am not sure if those are the ones i should get or not. its tuff to buy something you cant sit and feel in person. any input would help out alot, thanks.

I have the 12003. Never really looked at the trays as being a reason that we got them. But now they we have them I would never buy a chair with out them, we use them all the time. Don't really use the storage other then a place to put the trays.

If I did go to a chair with out them I would have to look for a way to add them. Wonder if you can buy the hardware from some where? As long as the chair has a flat top armrest the mount for the tray would be easy to add.

We did have the luxury of trying out chairs for comfort, probably are more comfortables ones to choose from but I have no complaints.

I have the 12011s and love them. Have had them about a month in our updated basement. At first, I was leery about getting them in non-leather fabric, but they've exceeded my expectations. They look just like leather, and anyone who has sat in them is impressed with them.

Having no opportunity to see them, I was nervous about ordering them. But Roman, from Ultimate Home Entertainment, assured me that I'd be pleased. And he was correct.

As far as the storage/tray table goes, I haven't used them at all. Like someone else said, the compartment is pretty deep, and I have a Harmony remote tucked in the cup holder.

My experience is about the same as Fradog's.

I bought 4 12011s in fabric, because I wanted a warmer feel than leather. Roman warned me that the fabric was very leatherlike, but I really didn't understand.

I was initially disappointed when they showed up because they had the look and feel of shiny black leather. However, I quickly grew to like them. They breathe well. They do a good job of holding their appearance and they do a better job of conforming to your body.

The sitting in them ahead of time was an issue. I went to the local furniture stores and found 12003s. I liked them a lot, except that they felt a bit squishy. Roman assured me that I would like the 12011s better because of the inner spring construction on the lower cushion. The 12011s had just come out and I couldn't find a set anywhere, so in the end I took Roman on faith. Very happy I did because the 12011s sit much better than the 12003s did for me.
