I am in the process of building a new home and I am going to put a dedicated Home Theatre in the basement..

Since I have 4 Months until the home is complete I would like to start picking up speakers and receivers as I go so I dont have to dish out a huge amount of money when the time comes.. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this 7.1 or 7.2 system and if you can suggest any other brands that would be comparable or something that could be upgraded to make it better.

Here is the System:

Front Left and Right:

Martin Logan Motion 12 I can get them for 600 a pair

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/MartinLo...7579&st=martin logan&cp=1&lp=4

Center Channel

Motion 8 price $400

Rear Channels

Motion 4 249 a pair

And Sub

Dynamo 699..

Thats around 2k in speakers alone without a RECEIVER.. If anyone else has any suggestions please feel free.... Its so hard to buy somethign i cant hear

Subs are the exception. They do not need to match the brand line for high quality audio. Subs you can purchase at a brick and mortar stores are rarely a good value unless you catch them on sale far below MSRP. For $699, there are far better subs available that are 12" from Internet direct retailers. They will be better for HT because they go lower, they will have more total output, and will likely be more musical and detailed.

I would strongly recommend that you create a post regarding a sub in the AVS subwoofer forum. I went from a comparable 10" type sub to the one you are considering, to one of the 12" subwoofers recommended by the AVS subwoofer forum, and the difference was literally unbelievable, well beyond my expectations. Provide the information in this post (items #1-7) when you create yours, and you'll get the best recommendations to meet your needs and budget.

I'm not familiar with the Martin Logans. But in that other thread you started, people indicated that they are a good choice.

Personally a center speaker with 4" woofers doesn't appeal to me. I prefer to have a center to have the same drivers as the front L&R. Especially if this system is mainly used for HT like TV, and movies the center channel is very important. I would even look at Polk Monitor Series II speakers. The 70s for the front L&R, CS2 center and 30s for the surrounds. http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCateg...Audio-Speakers or Infinity primus speakers. Or look at BIC Acoustechs http://www.acousticsounddesign.com/b...dex.cfm?bid=67.

For subs look at companies such as SVS, Hsu Research, Outlaw Audio, Epik, and Elemental Designs.

I'd also recommend considering them for your speakers. You'll get more for your money than you ever will in a brick and mortar store. I'd also include Emotiva speakers in that recommendation. Their 6.2s across the front make a very good front. I've had that setup along with their ERDs - I still have ERDs.
