+1 for the Sanus XF228...not cheap, but top quality build and looks, plus intuitive cable management!
Personally, I was skeptical of the near 100% positive ratings of every item at the Monoprice site. As finicky as most people are, I couldn't help but wonder if negative reviews are ever posted?

First time poster long time reader.

got my 80le632u last week based on the great feedback on this site

currently using rage2 and DaGamePimp settings, really happy with both.

i'm using a monoprice 6663. using the wider bracket let me get 3 studs in the bracket which made me feel a bit better about having an 80 inch on it.

Suzook, it is 3 ikea bookshelves that i modified a bit. Pretty cost effective and turned out pretty nice

seems that the 80" 632 is not on the 2012 releases , So this might be a one-off display , I don't anything for sure but one can say it's not on the '12 release page... Time only will tell !
If that's the case they might not drop in price & begone forever ? Who knows ?

There was no flex in it at all as I built a cabinet around it so I wanted it evenly spaced around each edge. It tilts as well if you need it.

Given the price point difference between the 3d 80 and the non 3d 80 I would be surprised if sharp eliminated this sku. Especially given how well its selling

Of course this quote is interesting. If it hits 4500 all bets are off

The Sharp LC-80LE844U will be available in late April of 2012 and will continue in production until spring of 2013. The price of this enormous 80? TV will be $4599 to $5599 throughout the year from a variety of resellers.

There is also the matter that the 3 pixel 80" might just be a test run of the plant that does this size panel & when the 844 ramps up Sharp might just want to concentrate the production line to the 844 only & quit making the 832 all together. There by going into a 4 pixel color panel just on those production runs , Single ,simple runs are more cost effective over doing 2 types of panels .The new plant has to make money ,

as most MFGer's are losing money on HDTVs.. see the news about Sony & Sammy have a price lock on new Displays , dealers are not to discount premium displays starting in March /April

that's why I acted like a Frog & Leaped on a 80" 632 now
cause if this is what is gonna happen then the prices will not fall on the 80" 832
they will just disappear from dealer stocks

I'm a better "safe than sorry" type of guy ........
I seen No Good News in the Sharp 2012 display offerings at all .... I M H O

guys, i really do feel like we have something special here as far as least problematic panel. i have been through countless displays from several mfgs over the last six months or so, and not until now have i been satisfied with my purchases. it must be the "virgin" 80" size that makes this better. don't get me wrong the Elite that i had spanks this set in the contrast/mll dept in which it spoiled me, but i'm willing to look the other way. that and the run around on such problems that i and suzook have/had. The transit Co. that US Appliance uses is a nation wide system carrier & seems to be top notch from what I've read about them . They have the lowest claims for damage in the Industry, that speaks volumes ,Big Time !
So the US Appliance is now in my bookmarks as I seen on their site that some of the Major Kitchen Equipment that I've bought in the last few years is way cheaper thru them. Others here have dealt with them on BBQ's .. & BBQ's is my next purchase come spring .. the old one rusted out ..

I was lurking on the Elite thread from the 1st page & you two guys went thru alot ... Seeing what you & Suzook did weighted heavy on my decisions .

I seen Rumors that Sharp might phase out the Elites due to having to pay a license fee to Pioneer .. I have no proof that will happen but it has been discussed on some tech blogs ,just wish I had bookmarked it .

Cool. It sounds like you are going to mount it on the wall, but if you decide to use the stand, it is best to lay the set face down with the styrofoam shipping blocks at the corners to do it - it is too heavy to try to position the mount beneath it. We are going to watch Puss In Boots on it tonight. By the way, the BBQ sounds like a great idea, we need a good one for the back deck.

Right, but it goes a little further than MAP according to the linked article. It's saying that each company (Samsung and Sony) are implementing a fixed selling price for their respective high end products. Meaning that there won't be anymore sweet deals on higher end sets; if Sony sets the price at $3,500, then it's $3,500 from BB, Amazon, Fry's or wherever. If it's not Sony's set price of $3,500 then it likely wouldn't be covered under the manufacturer's warranty.

Price fixing is illegal anti-competitive if you collaborate with OTHER manufacturers, not if you enforce in your distributors.

Apple is notoriously inflexible on prices with distribution.

Report back on how Puss & Boots looked PQ wise

Puss and Boots is reference material for this display; I was smiling not only at the comedy of the flick, but also at how great the picture looked. Rango is also good demo material. Here is a look at the display after we velcro-ed it to the TV stand.

I noticed in your pic that your room is pretty bright, i.e. white walls/windows (mine is currently also..I'd like it bright because of young kids)...I was wondering how do you like it/how does it perform under those conditions?

The display looks great, even in the afternoon with the south-facing window behind the set and a bay window and two large windows on the side. The 80" appears to be as bright as the (4 month old) 70" 733 model it replaced and a 70" Sony XBR2 prior to that, and both of those sets were also fairly bright.
