Is anyone using this panel @ 9ft seating distance? If so, are you happy or are the pixels too spread out or are there off axis color issues?

I'm thinking about it for an area just for me and my wife. No sports, just BluRay and broadcast. I'm a believer in HUGE for immersion but am concerned that at this distance with this large a screen that we'll both be off axis. Anyone living with this setup?

I'm envious of all of you who have choices in where you can see and buy products. I'm on an out-island in Hawaii where we only have Costco. Their setups are such that you can tell that its a working TV and not much else.

For daytime viewing 9' will be ok but a little softer, obviously. For night viewing with subdued lighting you will see some lightening on the far sides of the screen. 2 people at night is probably not recommended unless you're watching bright TV sitcoms or something like that. From my 6 months of living with this set, 10.5' is the sweet spot for full 1080 viewing.

I just got a E-mail say that US Appliance is sending me a check for $50.00 bucks for a referral fee that hdtv4xmas put me in for !!
anyone buying a 632 or a 844 pick a person who helped you out with the Sharp display that you bought thru US Appliance... all you need do is give a name & the invoice# of a person .. hdtv4xmas PM'ed me & I sent my invoice # & my name to him ,he forwarded that to US APP. when he got his display .. & now I got $50 .. Thanx ...
I'm not asking anyone to do this for me as I've been blessed but pick some on this thread who gave you advice & play/pay it forward ..

Yeah, I was jonesin' for some posts, but as you say, a good sign. And I suppose owners here that have given good advice and settings can take credit for that, along with new owners that know how to use the search feature.

Just kidding...sweet deal.

Bummer the 844 has the white lines and triangular blotches issues. At least, according to Chad, it appears they've finally corrected the overly red flesh tones and have gotten the Quattron working as well as the RGB panel.

Just picked up an open box 80 632 for a smokin price at Magnolia. It replaced a 70 632 and I cannot believe the difference in PQ between the two! The color and depth of picture is stunning. There has to be different processing going on between the two sizes...one happy camper here! Anybody on the fence...grab this baby!

So is the 633 essentially the same thing as the 632. Its at the local Costco so just wondering if its performance is equal to the 632 or a newer model like the 844.

the 633 has a setting for 240 motion the 632 has 120
most leave that at 120 low or Off anyway
but yes they are about the same

I would expect the 240hz to help with fast movement, like in sporting events. Does it not do this or does it screw up some other factor?

not that I see any improvement.... I get the best PQ on 120 low
watching sports with the 120 low setting I see no trails , no blurring , no ghosting of thrown balls ...
I feel I M H O it's a marketing thing .. but that's just me
I've had 240 on other Sharp displays (60",46",42" )as well & again no improvement that i can tell .
I do see that sometimes the broadcast source will do this & that's usually the individual camera shots . the 17th hole of the Masters had on camera that did it every time they showed that hole (mid fairway camera)

It does nothing to speed up the pixel transition. It merely flashes the LED backlighting 240 times/sec. The only 'benefit' I can see for this is that it lowers your light output and contrast ratio (according to Chad B on the 844)

They just started selling them at BJs as well. The price was 4500. That's more than double what I paid for my 70 inch 632. I must admit if they would have had the 80 when I purchased the 70, I would have opted for the 80.

Happy 80LE632 owner here. I have a question about my Blu-Ray settings to this TV. Do I set my player to 24HZ or 60Hz and do I set the player to use YcBcR or RGB? The Family and I are getting ready for a Blu-Ray TOTR marathon and I want the Blu-Ray player to be set up just right.

Billdag is right, none of the motion enhancements actually improve the on-off-on response time of the LCDs. Most of the professional reviewers whose reports I've read turn it off completely. Some have even called it "gimmick". Chad B. also said about the 844, "120 Hz High, Low or Off would be preferred unless 240 or 480 settings were found to improve the motion. I could see no visible improvement to the higher settings with the material I sampled." So if 240Hz is the only difference, and considering the price lokilarry said BJ's is asking for it, I certainly wouldn't choose it over the 632.

Bri, I would say 24Hz since this set has 120Hz motion and YCbCr (vs. RGB for a monitor), but I'm NOT sure that's correct. Someone else?

I recently picked up a couple of monoprice mounts for 2 tv's that I have, 1 being an 80" 632 but tonight came across something that looks interesting...in theory at least. Could I get some feedback on these? I really dont know if I would trust something like that, but I guess you never know.

24Hz for sure. Even if you don't use the Film Mode SOE, the 'standard' film mode reduces irregular judder caused by converting 24FPS to 60. I was playing with my 632 settings last night and, setting the film mode to standard, reduced visible judder by about 50% (easy to judge with scrolling credits at the end of the film). No comment on the color but I believe RGB would be my last choice although the visible difference would be slight.

First off, why is it that everytime i log in and write a substantial review, hit post, i get asked to log in again and i lose everyrhing i just wrote? So frustrating!This is the third time ive attempted to post my thoughts on this tv. Short and sweet, this is an exceptional display. You will not be dissapointed with it....I bought an NEC Xr5 a few years ago, and this display rivals the pic quality of that high end plasma with ease. I could go on and on, but this 80"set is sure to please. Ive owned it for a week and Im still in awe. So many happy consumers cant be wrong. Read all the rave about this set. Its the real deal. Buy one!

I decided to go with the wiremold to hide the wires from the AV receiver to the 632u. Its tolerable I guess. Im really picky about my install looking clean, but this is what I ended up with. See my pic. Sorry, the camera on this Galaxy tablet isnt the greatest....

Honestly I dont really have an off angle to reference from. My room is 12' wide and the picture is the same sitting on either side of the room. I dont understand why anyone would watch tv from an extreme off angle anyway. Dont most people sit pretty much in front of the tv? Im guessing the off angle viewing is like any other lcd.

My primary seat is a little over 3' from center. There is seating in the center but I don't get to sit there much
I just wonder if you lose much color saturation from that angle.

Hey Guys!

So far I'm loving this TV!

It's a ridiculous size, but I love it. Haha

A couple questions that I would LOVE if someone could help with? I'm sorry I don't have much to offer in return but my thanks:

1. How do I change/choose the bitrate in the Netflix app? I'm having trouble figuring out how. For example on my computer, and in my Roku box, I can change the bitrate I want.

2. Can you download additional apps? Such as Hulu?

TV is awesome so far. Worth every penny. Used some settings in a thread on this board and it looks great.

I'm so happy. I think Netflix + Vudu are going to be my best friends.
