Now i see its around 4999 everywhere...

$3,697 shipped with no sales tax. Which is still the price from usappliance.com. The insider secret is that you have to add to your cart, and enter all your shipping and credit card info, and then on the very last page, they deduct $1,302 and sell it to you for $3,697. OBTW in the remarks section of that sales order process, you can include the name and order number of anyone who you think has helped you out on your purchase, and that helpful person, will get a $50 check from US Appliance. I put fastslappy on my order

Are people happy with USAppliance and their delivery service, or is it better to price match at one of the more TV-specific places like Paul's or CP?

Must be new price - I saw $4499 just last weekend. Very good price with extended warranty. But CA tax is killing it...

How critical is the extended warranty?

It's Great ! The reason Why is that they will replace the display with a new OR better display . They have been know to replace a unit just on Photos sent to them by email . it's a full 4 years 3 month warranty @ $219.oo.

US Appliance uses "Home Direct Inc " as a carrier & they have the lowest damage claim rate of any US carrier .
they brought mine into the house = 2 men on the truck , let me un-pack & check for damages . helped me un-pack as well .
Top Shelf buying experience .....
I'll be buying ALL my next major appliances from them in the future

Wow... is that from Sharp, and purchased from the vendor?

No it's from Sharp directly ... I got mine when I registered the display with Sharp.
Took all of 5 minutes to register the display & they then transferred me to the Extended Coverage person . I got an email with the contract # & a website to refer my questions & a phone # to call if there is ever an issue , just an hour after I was off the phone .
$219.oo 4 years 3 months
hard to beat a full replacement policy that actually will replace the display ,Sharp will come to your house, deliver the Display, pack up the old one all in one trip ...

Are you really arguing what I saw? Putting the lights on the side of the set creates a halow of light on the wall where each bulb is. I would now this because I tried the light there. It looks like crap, not because I say so, but because it does. By the way, whats with all the pricing talk here? This is not the pricing thread fellas.....

Its kind of like what Phlllips did on some of their flatscreens (Ambilight)?. The light isnt nearly as bright as the picture makes it seem. I kinda like it.

I suppose it's better than a completely dark room, but really should illuminate uniformly, like Suzook said, around at least the top and sides. I understand funds may be short after buying the set itself. Personally, I had an Ideal-Lume Light, a 6500k florescent tube for my previous set and enjoyed what it did for the picture so much I bought the Panelight, a pair of 6500k tubes for this set, very beneficial, but at $89.95 not for the poor.

I think the white led strips add a ton of depth to this unit. Looks so clean. Every girl I've had over has mentioned how much they like it.

Funds are a not an issue considering I've already passed up the $10k mark with this current setup. I went with wireless remote operated led because i dont want exposed cable or power cords anywhere. I may take the advise of adding two more bars of leds on each side. Ill have to see how it looks. Thanks for the imput fellas.

Actually most warranties including sharps are price based. I was fortunate enough to buy my 632 for less than $3500 which allows me to get the sharp warranty for $179. But i am still debating whether or not the extra 9 months of coverage is worth the extra $80 over the costco square trade. Both appear to be almost identical with the exception of replacement choices, with sharp you get what sharp says is your replacement, with square trade you get cash replacement value so you can choose what you want. I purchased a $200 4 year extended warranty for my 5 year old 57 sharp and never used it, so still mulling over which one to get.

Better? Worse? I added two more 12' led light strips, one for each side. I love the fact that the little one button remote will turn all three lights on together. Its not overwhelmingly bright, and not to dim. I think this is going work just fine.

I have that in my kitchen for mood lighting and its a great LED set for the money. I imagine it will look even better as bias for the tv
post #2069 of 3146
So has anyone noticed a difference in the picture side by side on the 632 compared to the 844 - as the 632 does not have the extra yellow pixel. It has been stated that the extra pixel adds "billions" of additional hues and colors.

I've been using a 9 foot string of LED warm white Christmas lights for the past 4 months and I love the effect. PLUS - it only used 3 - 4 Watts. Perfect for night viewing. 9 feet is just right for wrapping around the top and almost all the way down the sides. $14 is easy on the wallet as well!
