Also, is the Sanus wall mount the mount of choice for this TV?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
If you Do Not watch any 3D then the 844 is not for you , the 632 & the 633 have had No Issues , the 844 has issues thou not major they are still issues,

I have yet to dial it in completely but I forgot how much the bias light really makes it POP
here is the kit if anyone is interested

Looks awesome...I just received mine, but have a quick question: the spool of LED lights has 2 ends...I is a small 4-pin adaptor that looks like it fits right into the control unit. On the other end are 4 exposed wires. Do I just tie these off so thy don't end up touching each other & shorting out?
Photo attached. Thanks!

I too am using a Sanus mount and believe they're the best quality, although they are not cheap. If price is important, Monoprice may be the better choice. I have seen at least one post in this thread that said a Monoprice mount flexed too much under the weight of the 632, which is not that much, and I'm leery of the nearly 100% positive reviews of all items on the Monoprice website making me wonder if those are the only ones shown.

The point is to get them to send a service technician to your home to view the clouding issue and recommend the appropriate action.

I'm using the same Monoprice mount I bought for the 70" (before I traded up smile.gif ) & it's holding up just fine.

Oh...I thought you had to submit photos to get them to take action. I'll give them a call...

Glad to hear the Monoprice is working well for you. That amounts to a great value.

Although I'm not sure, I'd imagine an initial photo would be helpful, but I doubt they would send you a new set based on a possibly Photoshoped, doctored picture, and will require a technician to verify the clouding in person. Good luck!

I've been enjoying my set for the last few months, but there is one thing about it that has been bugging me. I've got my Blu-Ray player feeding through my Denon receiver to HDMI1 on the TV and my DirectTV box feeding directly to HDMI2.

I have run into an issue some times where I'll be wacthing TV, but open the tray and pop in a Blu-ray disc to let it go through all the previews and warnings and such while I finish watching a show.

This wasn't a problem with the old Sony 52" that I had before. However, when I do this with the Sharp, it automatically changes over to the input that the Blu-ray player is on without me taking any action. It's very annoying. I've dug through all the settings menus, but so far I've not been able to find a way to disable this behavior.

Anyone here figured out something that I've missed?

Apparently the set is recognizing the new signal on HDMI1 and switching automatically. You might be able to connect the DirectTV box to the Denon and pass both it and the DVD to the TV through one HDMI OUT cable, which should solve the problem.

I have a Sony 55HX729 (so tiny!) and it does the same thing when I turn on the BD player. All you need to do is press the pop up menu on the BD remote and you'll skip the trailers instantly.smile.gif

I had a similar issue with my Panasonic Blu-Ray player and my VT25 where my VT would automaticaly switch to the player input when powering the player on. There was a setting on the Blu-Ray player I had to turn off to stop this automatic behavior.

It sounds like you have aquos link turned on. If you disable it, autoswitching should be disengaged.

I was in my local Fry's yesterday, and I asked about the 90. They have a LARGE section of wall space cleared off, and are expecting to hang the 90 there soon, but do not have a date set yet.
They volunteered the price would be $10K, asking me if I wanted to be the first Houston owner? rolleyes.gif I told them I don't buy bleeding edge technology...but of course, I am actually a cheapskate, and if I buy a 90, it will be based on price, after some guinea pigs (AKA well-heeled early adopters) answer the quality questions.

Hi, I just connected and mounted this set on Fri 7/6/12. I'm still learning a lot about it, and have the following questions (honest, I tried searching the thread first, but couldn't find much very easily).

1. I try to upgrade the firmware on the set via USB with the latest firmware I downloaded from the Sharp website, and the set reads the USB stick and says that the firmware is not for this model. Anyone else having this problem? The firmware on the Sharpusa site is version 311U1204061 and the one shown on my set is 217U1205161. If the last few digits are the date, then maybe the firmware on my set is newere than the one online?? Any ideas?

2. There is no YouTube app on the set! That was one of the features I was most looking forward to - is it not available as an app for this set?

3. Lastly, if anyone can provide either post #s or links to what you think are the best "dark room" settings, and the best "bright room" settings for this TV, it would really save me a lot of time hunting for them and playing trial and error with a whole bunch of different settings.

Thanks in advance, and I sure am glad I found this thread, now that I actually have this TV on my wall!

There have been lots of suggested setting for this set. I Googled "lc-80le632u settings avs" and quite a few of them came up. Here's one you might try:
http://forums.cnet.com/7723-19410_102-558561/sharp-lc-80le632u-picture-settings/
The backlight setting looks HIGH to me (I use -4 with subdued lighting) but the choice is yours.
I've used all 3 firmwares for the 80-le632u and don't recognize yours. Something is different. Maybe a small change in design crept in for the 2012 models?????
I've had my set for almost 10 months now and am still thrilled. Congratulation on yours.

Thanks, I'm really liking this set the more I learn about it and get the picture tweaked.

I tried the settings at Cnet first, and wasn't too happy with them. The picture just didn't look good to me. Since then, I have tried the Suzook settings and they are much better than the Cnet ones (at least in my humble opinion).

Since you have had your set a lot longer than I have, I wonder if you could share with me the firmware version you currently use - I presume it is the latest currently available for downloading?

Thanks. I tried those settings and they are way better than the Cnet settings I had on there before. The only thing I didn't like was the color temp set to Low. When it's set to low, it seems to really look faded and washed out, so I set it to Middle and it looked much better. Sure, when set to middle, the reds don't look quite as rich, but I find the picture much more to my liking.

Another question - I entered these settings under EVERY AV mode that I could (Standard, Movie, Game, PC, etc.). The only difference I see now when switching AV modes (not including Dynamic Fixed and Auto) are in regards to brightness it seems. Can someone tell me what the difference is between the AV Modes on the TV? I'm not really sure what they change.

The latest firmware on my 80-LE632U is Version: 311U1204061 as you mentioned. Take a look at the back of your set and see when it was built.
Apr. 30/12 was the date of the last FW release (Version: 311U1204061).
Not surprised you didn't like CNet's settings. They looked a little weird to me too - although I didn't try them. I'm not using the low temp settings either. A little too warm for me. I like white whites!

Stupid question. My older LCD when I'm watching like MLB or ESPN the ticker is missing a letter on both ends. I'm assuming this is overscan. Does the 632 do this also or will I finally fill the whole screen with all the content available?

The tv has a "stretch" ability or you can set it to "dot by dot" which will give you an exact pixel by pixel picture of whatever the source is. I have not seen that issue on my set and I use dot by dot for everything.

++11oo "Dot by Dot " on everything
If you see a data line on off channels ignore it ,I quickly got to where I don't notice them any more .

Couldn't agree more - I would rather see a weird line on an old program or broadcast than a) miss a whole portion of the picture due to cropping, or b) watch oddly shaped people and objects due to horizontal stretching.

I must say, I'm still very disappointed about the lack of YouTube support especially considering their ads and boxes, and promo materials all show it as part of the app suite. I really feel misled by Sharp about the Youtube availability. Sure, buyer beware and all that, but I don't think I've ever seen an ad for the Sharp suite of apps that didn't have the Youtube app showing.
