Are these guys reputable? Anyone on this thread actually ordered from buysquad? I have researched them and they sound generally okay for one of those new jersey outfits that tries to upsell you... but you never know.

I'm ready to pull the trigger on one of these. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on buysquad.com for large TVs.

I don't know about sharp, but this vendor is on the "unauthorized" list on Mitsubishi's website where customers are warned to stay away.

Well, I couldn't find anything on Sharp's website other than "shop with an authorized Sharp reseller" http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/SAOR.aspx, but I had remembered the vendor from comments in another thread, and looked it up for the OP. Instead of sarcastic comments, perhaps you could be more helpful next time and provide the requested information yourself?

Man, I know nothing about Mitsubishi policies, but from my experience with Sharp I can tell that they do not care about "authorized" versus "non-authorized" dealers.

This is my fourth Sharp Aquos, and I never had any problems registering for the warranty.

All 4 were purchased online frow whoever had the best price.

I was not sarcastic, just trying to play moderator here, it happens to me sometimes biggrin.gif

Cheers.

Thought I'd post up real quick that Sharp just informed me that they are replacing my terrible LC-70LE847U with a new in box LC-80LE632U. I could not be happier! I should receive it in ten days or so. Here's what happened..

Black Friday last year bought a LC-70LE632U for $1500 at Fry's. Awesome deal, LOVED the TV, but it stopped working for no reason 5 months in. Sharp replaced it quick, but they had no more 70" 632's (I did not want to go edge lit), they offered me an 80" replacement for $3000. I declined and accepted the 70" 847U (edge lit, 3D, etc) as a direct replacement.

My 70" 847 was terrible from day one. Picture quality was off from my 632 and the clouding on dark scenes was so bad I seriously stopped watching movies on it and started watching more on my bedroom TV (a 60" Sharp 632). After a while dealing with it and talking to Sharp they offered to replace my 70" 847 with an 80" 632 model and I bit.

Here's hoping I get a good one! smile.gif

PS. Sharp's customer service has been exceptional. They've got my business for good.

also, there's a denon, adjustable from 0-200ms. but it doesn't have audio return, which actually looks to be a good feature for me. will be using netflix direct from tv. worse come to worse, i'll just have to buy an extra optical cable for the tv sound.

The AV receiver that feeds my Sharp 80" is a Sony DA 5400ES A/V receiver. After some fiddling with it, the setting of 220ms seemed to work best, but 200ms would also work easily as well. For whatever reason, setting the delay that high doesn't affect things that didn't bother you to begin with, but corrects the things that did.

I have had some very good high end products in my constantly evolving system, with the peak point several years ago when the Sony Qualia was the "it" projector. When I initially replaced the Sony, I wound up with Sharp's last high end projector, the XV-Z20000, which was an absolutely superb DLP projector. It was actually better than the Qualia, though I had to go through lots of tinkering to understand this. So when I bought this set last year, it was with no issues about Sharp as a manufacturer of video products.

This is Sharp's forte. They do video incredibly well, and, with this set, at a price point that makes everything else seem meaningless. While I'll probably wind up with the 90" set, or something bigger before I start anything like reversing, I couldn't be happier with this company.

Thanks,

Nick cool.gif

I have a free calibration offer from Best Buy, where I bought my set. Do you guys think I should try it out? Has anyone else had Best Buy do this for them?

I am pretty happy with the set as is - I mostly use the Suzook settings with some minor adjustments to my personal taste, but nothing major.

I'd be interested to hear what you guys think. Is the worst that could happen that I don't like it when they leave, so just put the Suzook settings back, or can they mess it up beyond what I am able to repair on my own (I remember someone mentioning that there are service menus we can't get to).

Thanks for the great thread!

Better than your Qualia? I don't know. I've seen that bad boy in action and still think it's the best PQ I've ever seen. wink.gif I have the lip sync set at 240 on my Integra DHC 80.3, but I am using the video processing in the Integra applying it to the native signal so a delay is expected. I had Chad B. back last week to touch up my calibration since I took my DVDO Duo out of the video processing chain. Man I absolutely love the PQ on this TV. Just love it. Chad is amazing.

I have a DHC 80.3 feeding my 844 and found 207 for A/V sync to work best for mine using the WOW DVD calibration disk.
Chad B calibrated mine 2 weeks ago and we found that the best setting for the TV to work with the DHC 80.3 was Direct Mode. I had it on through before he came and had some judder issues. He had me turn it on Direct as it turns all the 80.3 processing off and that seems to work best and any judder I had from certain sources is gone, mainly Dish Network.

I use direct mode for Blu Ray and never see any judder. I use 1080P in Custom for my Direct TV and rarely see any judder. I could not use the video processing in my 80.2 when connected to my Mits 82837 because the judder was so bad. But the video processing chip in the 80.3 is so good I sold my DVDO Duo. And of course the 632U displays it in stunning fashion!

If you get a chance, I'd like to know what kind of settings your using in custom mode for satellite that improves your image. I'm always up for experimenting. You can PM me if you want so this doesn't turn into a 80.3 thread.
Thanks!

Thanks!

In Picture Adjust for source set-up I have Wide Mode in "Full", Picture Mode is "Custom", Film mode is "Auto", Resolution set at "1080p" and color temperature at "Normal". No other picture adjustments since Chad set those in the TV itself. Thanks. Bob
post #2570 of 3272
Thanks Fastslappy and Bslep. I tried going to "Through" on the 80.3 today and had it upscale DIsh 1080i to 1080p to the 844. Judder came right back.
Returned the 80.3 to "Direct" and it went away. Guess the 632 and the 80.3 plays more nicely together. So "Direct" is where I'll stay on my 844.

I'm sorry for calling your comments sarcastic then, but my post was about the vendor buysquad.com, not another manufacturer, yet that was apparently all that you picked up and commented on. Did I cross some line because the vendor information was from another thread?

And to answer the OP's question, are you saying you've bought a Sharp TV from buysquad.com and/or it's safe to buy from them?

Here's the OP:

I did not buy from buysquad, I bought from eastcoasttvs.com this time, and I am very happy with my purchase.
I do believe they are not on the list of "authorized resellers", however, I succesfully registered my TV on Aquos site and got 3 extra months of the warranty.
Were Sharp policies different, I probably wouldn't be able to do so.

But this is my experience, and only mine.

Well, today buysquad price is $3,636 and eastcoasttv price is $3,649.

I'd buy from eastcoasttvs again without hesitation.

They care about their reputation on resellerratings.com /wink/ biggrin.gif

One should have a lot of patience though.

I ordered on Sept 6, got it on Sept 24.

But it was well worth the wait.

Very nice to hear you were a satisfied customer & by no means am i raining on your remarks or recent experience with EastCoast Tv`s but are consumers really supposed to believe that this vendor has turned over a new leaf after reading all the past reviews concerning their unethical business practices as the below for example sake:

Look, all those East Coast vendors are about the same, using the same technics, tryng to get more money from their customers.

I was able to get mine from ECTV exactly for the price they advertised, got free "white glove" delivery and brand new product w/US warranty.

If someone doesn't like the hassle of dealing with vendors like ECTV, s/he can always go to Best Buy or Amazon and get what they want for the price.

I am cheap and want to save some green biggrin.gif

And I know at least one member of AVS who also got his TV /not Sharp/ from ECTV and he is quite happy about his purchase.

I am not trying to advertise for ECTV here.

This was my experience. Yours might be different.

Maybe they have turned over a new leaf. Resellerratings gives them a 9.09 over the last six months. That is pretty good. Whenever I consider a new source for an internet purchase, I always have a peek at http://www.resellerratings.com/. They confirmed what I found out later, that J&R and B&H Photo are excellent places to purchase electronic and photo equipment. You, most certainly, will also see very quickly the truly horrible merchants who don't deserve to be in business. Cleveland Plasma, by the way, has a FLAWLESS 10.0 rating. From what I've read here, I'm not surprised.biggrin.gif

Actually, ECTV lowered the price on their website after I ordered but before they shipped. I called in, asked for the price adjustment and they did lower the price without any hesitation.

Extra $70 in my pocket.

So I loved them biggrin.gif
