of the Quattron. Just going by what I was told. My 70" shows no clouding or flashlighting.
I guess I should knock on the pedestal of fake wood...or fake brushed metal or whatever the heck it is.
I like the edge-lighting and I've heard of uneven light on the full-array backlights. Too much variation
among the hundreds of elements that serve as light sources and no local dimming anyhow...
The 90" Sharp is a Full Back Lighted LED Array

here's the spec page from the Sharp site .

Now will you PLZ stop saying it's edged lighted .

Hey folks! First post here. Long time LURKER.

Best Buy starts their alleged internet price match on the 4th. Think they'll price match East Coast TV's?

FYI, Best Buy did indeed match the printed ad from "East Coast TV`s" i brought with me to the store yesterday when i purchased the Sharp 60" 640u for the bedroom. They also included the additional 2% that East Coast TV`s is presently offering when after adding the item to cart and typing in the word " PayCheck ". Got the unit for $1172.08 which is cheaper then Samsclub or Costco. I see no reason BestBuy wont do the same price match on the 80" 632u which they had in stock.

Regards, wink.gif

I guess I had no idea East Coast TV's had paper ads. I figured they were an online-only retailer, which Best Buy will not price match (at least that's my experience).

How'd you get one, if you don't mind me asking.? You said "printed ad". Just print it out off the site?

I see you're in South Texas (I'm in Houston).

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, i simply printed the East Coast TV`s website page depicting the final price after adding the unit to the cart and entering the word " Paycheck " to get the additional 2% OFF. In fact i drove up to the Best Buy store off the Gulf Freeway past League City exit 646. Any of the Best Buy stores will honor this now.

Earlier this week I went to my local Best Buy and they fussed about a simple 100 dollar discount or any price matching. Can you please explain how far you went into the purchase page and where you stopped and printed it. Did you create an account? Seems like if they would match any part they still might balk at the 2% discount. But that sure would help with the sales tax. And where is anyone reading where they are going to start internet price matching on the 4th. I am about to pull the trigger on this TV but I sure would like to purchase locally.

Here's where I'd read it.

But I'd also mentioned it to a Best Buy salesman last weekend and he had no idea what I was talking about. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Regards,
I heard about BB doing the price match with internet sales , on a local TV news report here in the SF Bay Area cool.gif
It was also on the NBC nightly news during a business news report on BB earning report smile.gif

I did a search on what was reported by Best Buy and it appears that it's all just luck if you get a willing store manager. I couldn't find anything that says starting on the 4th there policy changes in any different way. I have printed the checkout from the website and will try again but I am not expecting it will work here. I am in North Houston.

I would try to order from East Coast TV's but I wonder if now is a good time to order from the East Coast after what there all dealing with right now.

Your exactly right and here below is the actual receipt from the purchase i made from BB on Nov. 1st which is 3 days prior to the 4th. Bear in mind this is for the Sharp 60" 640 but they defintely did price match the East Coast TV`s printed out webpage price after i had created an account, added the display to the cart, and entered the additional 2% discount code word " Paycheck " [ without quotations ] Then simply printed out the webpage to carry to BB. Of course their are no guarantee`s BB will do the same for the 80" 632u but it is definitely worth a try and feel free to copy my receipt for price match confirmation with East Coast TV`s final cart price.

The below receipt also reflects a reduced price match for the Sony S590 BD player i also purchased at the same time. The 60" 640 was cheaper then the current Samsclub or Costco prices. IMO i doubt any Black Friday deals will be much lower then the below:

at the end of the day no matter WHAT BB corp policy is, the manager of the store is going to arbitrarily decide how and what he matches. Why...because it effects his overall store performance on revenue. Good luck trying to get pm across the board
post #2655 of 3151
They matched East Coast for me about 3 weeks ago.
Woohoo, the set is being delivered next Saturday!!! This thing is going to be ridiculous.

Got it from ABT for a sweet deal.
Well to update I took the East Coast TV`s check out page to BB. The manager checked to see if they were an authorized dealer and then matched the price less the %2. It was very easy with no problem at all. So the TV is due to be delivered free on Monday. If they had a consistent policy and not a personality policy the TV would have been on the wall for a week now. But I am not going to complain and thanks to all for bringing backup the possibility I could buy locally.

Also as a side note when I first tried to get the price match I went to my local Fry's first because I needed to get some HDMI cables. The store clerk there was, to be kind, an idiot. He went on and on about how Sharps were garbage and he would take a 55" LG over the 80" any day. Our local Fry's has been getting really disorganized and just plain dirty over the last few years. The BB I bought at has been gutted and rebuilt inside and is just way nicer even if most of the time they still have nothing of interest.

This afternoon out of curiosity i printed out the East Coast ad for the 80" 632u and went to Frys first and they would not match the ad period. However Frys did have the display on sale for 3599. Then went down the street to the BB magnolia store and they matched the ad within 22 bucks of the East Coast TV ad i handed them. Best Buy had a sign displaying the 80" 632u on sale for 3999 which IMO the sign should have been spelled simply SELL !

Anyways it appears most of the BB outlets in my area will match the exact ad price dependent on which display unit your interested in since it might vary with their initial unit wholesale cost and overhead between various stores and of course managers as Suzook mentioned.

That is about the best price I have seen since the $3219 I paid at Sears in July.

How did the manager at Best Buy verify that East Coast TV was an authorized Sharp dealer?

The only authorized online resellers on Sharp's website are:

Walt's
Brandsmart
Video & Audio Center
Best Buy
Frys
Paul's TV
Electronic Express
HHGregg

Thanks

I am surprised how all you guys go crazy with price matches and online when all you need do is watch Sears website each week and they have beat every price you have all paid on 5 occasions since April. They put it on sale and then they will have a special 1 day or 2 day TV sale to drop another 15-20 per cent off and then you use a Sears card to get another 5% off and then you pick it up at Sears. I paid $3219 out the door.

I have done the same with refrigerators there. Watched their site and ended up paying $849 for a $2000 French door refrigerator.

SUCCESS!

Got the price match of East Coast TV's. Took some strong arming, as the manager said he could match Amazon, but not anyone else. I just said, "Ok. They did it at the 646 store, so I'll just go there. Thanks for your time.", he quickly stopped me and price matched everything. Even the 2%. Just as they did for Silverfox1.

Delivery is tomorrow.

I'm going to love my first vomit from motion sickness from playing Battlefield on it. *memories*

Thanks all for your help! I'll post pics when it's in.

Since you have been keeping track of sears and this television since April, next time one of their events comes up,please post it in the "LCD Great Found Deals" thread.

I would jump on the tv if I could get it at your price, but when I check Sears usually they aren't running the deals you have posted...

This may be a dumb question. For those with lip sync issues, why not just use HDMI out from all sources to your receiver and use HDMI monitor out from the receiver to the TV? Wouldn't this get rid of all sync issues?

What was a cost for the warranty? Is it worth it, it seems their web site does not have any details. I would pay for it if it was of the same price as my state sales tax

Mostly. But I think some programs get something wrong.

For example, on Monday NIght Football, the announcers lips keep moving for about a half second after the sound stops. But other programs on ESPN and I think even the commercials on MNF are ok.

On the Daily Show, John and guests are in synch but any video clips they show are out.

This with HDMI into my AVR and then on to the TV.
Turning the external tuner -- satellite or cable box -- off and right back on will correct the problem.
When channels are changed or when there is a glitch in the broadcast or sometimes just when the TV has a hiccup, this will restore synchronicity...

They charged me $299 for what they told me would be a 5 year warranty (I assume that means 4 yrs past the 1 yr mfr. warranty). He was wheeling and dealing on the warranty price as I hesitated, so the price you pay could be just about anything. It's from a 3rd party, not from Sharp. They actually pulled a bait and switch (or made a mistake) on the warranty, sent me a 3 year (2 past mfr.) and it said the max. value was $3,500 when they charged me $3,573 for the TV. I called to complain and the guy said he'd fix it, but nothing tangible yet, I'll probably have to call and complain yet again.

I honestly consider the warranty pretty worthless, I'm sure it's like any 3rd party warranty where if you actually try to make a claim they will find a million reasons why it's not actually covered--assuming the warranty company is even still in business by the time you make the claim. I suppose if your state sales tax is high enough, the warranty price would still be less though--mine would have been.

I've had the TV for a couple of weeks now but haven't been able to get it hung and installed, I kept finding more things I had to order (HDMI cables, speaker brackets, etc.). Everything is ready now, I'm hoping to get it all set up this weekend.

Could someone point me in the direction of some widely accepted settings for this set. I know it might be lazy of me, but reading through 89 pages of this thread may take a little while. BTW if there is a particular name to search for please let me know what it is.

Thanks
