80" sharp here i come.
The 90" looks very tempting, but the cost is almost double as compared to an 80" LCD. The best deal i see on this 80" right now online is from buysquad, are they a reliable source? I know discussing prices are not allowed on the forum, but please do let me know whats the best source for a good deal?
Did anyone of you buy the extended warranty for 5 years for 750 dollars more/less?

Edit: i see a lot of customer complaints on resellersratings for buysquad... any other source guys?

best warranty for best service coverage, best replacement policy, best cost is the Sharp service plan ,I paid 219.00 for 4 years 3 months
buysquad is reseller with "in stock issues" meaning sometimes they take you money & the item is Not Actually in-stock & it's a big hassel get your CC credited back in a timely fashion
best if you deal directly with online sellers I M O
lots of guys get a on-line price & then get a Brick & Mortar store ( Best Buy ) to price match & deliver .

Costco has the 5 year warranty for $99. That's why I went there.

I'll try these when I get my new TV on Saturday. The original one has two dead pixels right next to each other SMACK in the middle of the TV. It looks like there's constantly a small insect there.. so annoying!

Hey every one where can you find Suzook's settings for the LC-80LE633U? I can't seem to find them, would like to try them out?

Costco has a reduced price until 2/3.

My 80 632 was manufactured in 12/2012. Just figured out the remote included is for a 633 which is different. Sharp is suppose to send the correct remote. Aquos Net button on 632, is AAL button on 633 remote. No way with this remote to get to Aquos Net.

Wow! that is a great price and includes White Gloves free shipping. That is about $1K less than I paid in late 2011. J&R is a great place to shop. I would consider them essentially zero risk. Reseller Ratings quite rightly, loves them too with a rating of 9.26. I've bought from them several times over the last few years and have had zero issues with them.

On another note, I hear Sharp is starting to improve its financial picture and its main plant is now running at 80% capacity - up from 30%. Glad to hear that as they are the price leader on huge TV's. It would be a bad thing for everyone if they folded. The increase in business, by the way, is due to orders from Sony and Samsung!
I found all this out a couple of days ago after visiting my local Costco. I always walk by the big screens and check them out. So I walks by a couple of big Samsungs and what did I see? - Sharp panels on them!! How did I know? - Sharp is the only manufacturer that uses a split pixel design. Very easy to see once you're aware of it. I posted some pix a long time ago showing how they look. Where other manufacturers use one pixel high RGB's Sharp splits them in two and alternates upper/lower sub-pixels to more easily control light output (I think - not totally sure why they do it).
OK - OK, I'll do it. Hold on a sec. while I go and take a picture demonstrating the sub-pixel. Be right back...........Here you go!

Thanks for that! I've been looking at Sharp on line auth dealers as my local BB will match them. Would have never figured J & R to beat all of them. Looks like I will take this to BB Saturday and do it as that is $100 over my self set price point of whne to buy it and if it does go cheaper on Sunday the 27th they will still match it it. So looks like there will be another Sharper 80er soon! Cheers

my 1st thought was no clue at all .
but there are guys who will have to have their cold dead fingers pried off their DLP's

You know, I read that post and thought I'd leave it alone but no...you had to throw that hook in huh? DLP over a full panel LED display. Just incredulous.

On a side note, I was at Sharp's CES "booth" last week and they had their 90s in force. It made our 80s look...small . Actually every other mfg was trying to one up each other in size. Only in Vegas.

So Sharp was still showing the 90 at CES? Did they say anything about cancelling it since they didn't talk about it at all in any of the reports I saw.

it's being carried over , the 632 80' is gonna be as well , the new 80" is replacing the 844.

Yes they were. It's was odd because I was rushing through the booth and saw 60s and 70s and them bam the 90s! I didn't have time to speak to any of the reps but there's a good booth tour video you can see in YT. At the 6:30 mark, you'll get your answer re the 90s . I gotta say, I was only impressed with the Sharp and LG displays. Samsung is easy to blingy for my taste.

Well it finally arrived Wed and is up on the wall. For the most part, I am very, very pleased.

I am using the very popular Suzook settings; as a test last night, How To Train a Dragon on Blu ray looked absoutely stunning. I sit 10-11 feet away in a very dark room.


I do wish my SportsCenter (and ESPN in general) looked a little better. I don't have any motion artifacts, but think things could be a little "sharper" (no pun intended). Is there any setting tweak people do to help their HD cable feed? Also, is there agreement whether its best to set my cable box to output 720p or 1080i?

Today there is a great deal on the 80" 240Hz on dealnews its almost the same cost for what 120Hz goes for.

Thank you very much for the link. That 90 looked huge right next to the 80, I have never seen them side by side in person. Looks like everything but the 90 is going edge lit and quattron.
