I have the 90" and am sitting about 10' away. It is NOT too close.

You won't think the set is too large.....

I agree about using Suzook's settings.

Anyone viewing these suckers from 7, 8, or 9 feet and happy?

Thanks all, cheers.[/quote go for the 80 you won't regret it.

I recently purchased a 70" 757 model and I recently got a gift and was thinking of upgrading to an 80" 633 from Costco. My existing TV has flashlighting. Since the 80" is a full array LED would I see flash lighting? Does anyone game on these TVs? I have to set my existing TV to game mode for TV and blu-ray and games because of the horrible audio syncing even after setting my receiver on a 6 frame delay.

Hopefully there are some folks that still monitor this thread. Thanks!

The chance of clouds and flashlighting is greatly reduced because of full array backlight. There have been a few incidents but my 80-632U (same set except for 240 Hz. LED strobe) is remarkably absent of both. First set of 11 that has been essentially perfect in this regard.
Gaming is a blast in GAME MODE. I've noticed no lag in video or sound. GAME mode is a must however. There is about a 300ms lag in all other modes, due to picture processing.
Yes, I just happened to check this thread. It's almost dead. Great run though since Sep. 2011!!

Need help with audio setting...

Have a 632 and volume seems to be higher on commercials (long stand problem with providers I guess).

In the setup, I noticed that there was an "Audio Volume" setting = High, Med, Low or Off.

What do I set this to to "level" the peaks and lows when the sound blares through on a commercial?

Just bought one of these over the weekend and set it up, turn it on and....

Not sure exactly what that is but it's definitely a screen problem so I have to pack this behemoth up and take it back for an exchange, sigh.

Just the guy i wanted to talk to about this I have options all priced basically the same 2800

I could get new vizio 80 but that edge lit light bleeding is scary ing me and smart dimming on that appears to be dumb from what I'm reading. The 650u is also edge lit but I can't seem to find reviews on it to see if it suffers like the vizio or not and my friend has a 844u and I know that's full array so should not have bleeding or blooming I do like the new aged slim bezel so you see all picture but which one really are the new 2013 upgrade worth it keep in mind for me same price for all 3

from reports I've seen that the 2013 model suffer from the same issues as the 2012 70" edge lit models ,uneven PQ, edge light bleed ,clouding problems .
The 632 has a better PQ than the 844 does (slightly better due easy to set ) & is way easier to home calibrate (the Suzook setting work well on the 632 633 for most all owners )
If I had to choose between all three ,i'd go 632 or a 633
I have had a 632 for about 16 months & I love it

632 & a 633 the same TV but for the 240 setting & most if not all turn off the 240 setting anyway .
I have no problems at all with motion issues watching sports , mine is set to 12o Low as well .
the 2013 models are a step backward in tech but are money makers for Sharp due they are cheaper to produce
Yeah there are a up-grade in the Smart TV & a browser options but a step back in PQ . if you have a HTPC, a media box or a laptop then all those items make the Smart TV & browser moot as they are way better than the Sharp browser .
A good BluRay player will do all those just as good as the 2013 improvements as well . a outside box is better than a Smart TV in any case as you can swap boxes & not have to swap TV's to match any changes in new tech that changes every 6 months anyway smile.gif
the bezel is a little thicker but they both have the same image nothing is cut off on a 632

I figured light bleed and edge bleed would be a issue on the new model as well have you seen the pq on the new vizio 80 to compare to the 632 or 633??

The other day while playing the PS3 I noticed that when you pan the camera in a game around there's a vertical line going from top to bottom about 1/3 in. From the left of the line to the left edge of the TV I notice that the picture is somewhat brighter and washed out than the picture on the right hand side of the screen. You can only spot on on dark scenes. I've seen the same thing on the right hand side...vertical line 1/3 of the way in with everything on the right to the edge of the screen being somewhat brighter and washed out than everything to the left. Because it's not some random blob but has some consistency I'm wondering if it's just an inherit issue with the TV. Has anyone noticed something like this? Is it worthwhile to load this monstrosity up and return it? I don't have a truck so it's a bit of a problem taking it back and the last thing I want is a TV with the same issue. I played around with the brightness and backlight but nothing really helps...you can see the vertical lines and the brightness/washed out image regardless.

Picked up a 633 at Costco in Canada for $920 off their regular retail price (not sure if I should post prices here or not) so there's an 80" beast in the house now. Won't get to unpack it for at least a week but really looking forward to it. Also sprung for the $99 for three extra years with Square Trade, bringing total warranty up to five years.

Thanks. I'm really looking forward to it. I do have to get a Harmony remote but I've been building the rest of the system very slowly (as slowly as my home theater build has been going) and am aiming to have it all ready to go around Christmas. But I picked up a nice set of top of the line Boston 5.1 speakers (VR 336 fronts) about two years ago that still haven't been used. I've also got my Oppo BDP103 and am aiming at either a Marantz or Yamaha receiver to power the system.

Not much in the way of expectations for tv speakers anymore, that's for sure.

I suggest looking at the Onkyo AVRs
the ones with the dual video processors as they play well with these Sharp's the TX-NR 818 or higher
as the guys who have these report that the display is crystal clear PQ
the new Onkyo's have the best video processors on the market right now
you could look for a 1009 as well any thing Onkyo that is having the dual vid processors
that new 103 Oppo has the same processors as the Onkyo do .

Does anyone know when the New models or model of the Sharp AQUOS LC-80LEXXXX are out in the US ? Reason why I ask is whatever they sell in the states usually follows in Australia with our 50hz model months later. Our last model the LC80LE940X was released back in August 2012 and I would think we are due for an updated new model soon.
All the new edge lit models are out now? Don't know what your getting at
