I know how much they improved the units because I have a 5008 & 807 , you can cook dinner on those units .; I bought the 1009 strictly for the video processor in the unit . I know what you mean about Canadian prices it is really very unfair .
Edit ;;;;;;;;;;;;; to a past post the TX-NR818 does NOT have the dual Video processor the 1010 1009 & up have the dual vid chipsets I double checked
Are you sure? I've been lurking on Amazon for a clearance price on the 818. Onkyo and Amazon both say the 818 has the Vida and Marvell Qdeo built in. I know they dropped the Vida on the newer 828 model. Is that the one you were perhaps thinking about??
