WPTO broadcasts from WXIX's tower in Cincinnati. The analog was Oxford, though.

It has gone silent real good. The tower has dropped yesterday. The Celina newspaper web site has video of it falling.

So is TVGOS still down for everybody? My Sony TV still has no TVGOS info as of today.

I'm still not getting TVGoS either.

WHIO-TV has a DD 5.1 Audio Problem. Since going to their new location WHIO has had an audio problem with their DD 5.1 audio. When they first came on the air from their new location they had no audio (voice) coming from the front center speaker which lasted for about an hour, then the front center audio (voice) was coming from my rear speakers which lasted for a couple days until the front audio (voice) was fixed correctly by them to come out of the front center speaker, but ever since then, NO SURROUND AUDIO is coming from my rear speakers. What WHIO-TV has for their audio is 3.1 not DD 5.1. Does anyone know when WHIO will get the DD 5.1 audio problem fixed? Contacting them by me has not gotten the problem fixed.

Is TVGOS gone for good? Any info would be helpful.............

WHIO went down due to loss of power this evening. Their on-line reporting after the 11PM news said they were running on backup generator. About 12:40 they went dark for a few minutes and then put up a weather map. Just came back on and announed they were ending news coverage until 4:30AM. Been flashing frozen screens since.


Hope everyone is surviving the ice storm OK. I'm seeing the lights flash a lot, but fingers are crossed that power holds up. Last word was 75000 were out of power in DP&L's area, mostly south of I-70 in Montgomery County.

After many emails to WHIO Engineering and getting NO replies, I've given up on WHIO streaming the Tvgos signal and have reprogrammed my Pioneer Elite to not use the interactive guide. The lack of the Tvgos signal causes Pioneer Tv's to turn-off randomly with a "communications" error (12 flashes from blue led). By re-programing the Pioneer to not use this guide I'm hoping the random turn-offs will cease.

WHIO can do whatever they want as they own the station that broadcast the signals but you would think they would have the curteousy to at least respond to the community.

Did you call the newsroom and politely ask to speak to engineering about the issue? Or, send an e-mail to the GM?

Chuck is no longer the chief engineer as he retired. Not sure who the new guy is but whoever it is, they could sure do themselves a favor by learning some manners and replying.

Bug them on their Facebook page... Or call their "DTV Hotline", 259-2009 (let us know how many times it rings )

As for a new guy, I wouldn't presume that "Chuck's" e-mails are automatically being forwarded to him. I suspect someone is getting them though if no one is getting 'bounce' messages back.

Is Channel 16 having problems? I've rescanned on 2 TV's and it's missing.

It came back in. Drives me crazy. Have to rescan quite a bit.

Sony got all 8 days of TVGOS, DTVpal DVR needs a reset (and hopefully it works as well).

First time poster from Riverside, and I have an issue with WHIO-DT. After reading these last few pages, I wonder if it's the TVGOS...

Ever since WHIO moved to Main Street, our 55" LG HDTV (bought in February 2010) sometimes goes black and states 'No Signal', usually (if not always) during commercials. (Back in December, during network shows it would stutter to blocks every 13.4 seconds. It actually turned into a fun game for me to count to 13 and see it block up.) The Magnavox DVR (515) we have doesn't have these same issues with WHIO-DT. This only occurs on 7.1, 7.2 is just fine. When 7.1 goes black, I can turn to 7.2 and see the radar, then when I go back to 7.1 it is still on black, but seems to come back on when the commercials are over.

We are using an indoor Terk antenna routed into the DVR and then onto the TV. Every other channel I get (14 in total) doesn't have any problems whatsoever, and 7.1 was just fine on the TV before the switch to Main Street. (I didn't get the DVR until Xmas.)

The Flyer basketball game this Saturday was watched through the DVR because I couldn't get it to show up at all on the LG HDTV.

Is there something wrong in my setup? A setting on my TV to help fix the receiving of WHIO-DT?

WHIO moving to the new Main St location has no bearing on your issue. Their broadcast tower didn't move... It's been in the same place for many, many years.

The tower may not have moved but equipment certainly has. I am STILL without audio on 7-1 while 7-2 is flawless. WHIO has refused to reply to emails and I have no choice but to eliminate WHIO from my channel lineup.

The problem rests on WHIO's side as this happened before when Chuck was still there and he (or one of his engineers) corrected the problem before. Now it seems WHIO's new chief engineer has decided to ignore these issues altogether by simply not even responding. Class act WHIO.

I gave up on WHIO supplying TVGoS. I put a Cincinnati zip code in my DVRs and they now get it from WKRC. I still record the Dayton stations--just use the Cincinnati ones to see what's on.

I just gave up on WHIO. Get perfect signal, specifically spent good money on antennas etc to receive WHIO and it is for not now. Screw WHIO I say.

I did a factory reset on my DTVPal DVR this morning, and when I checked this evening the TVGOS is back!

At least for today...

Someone had suggested a double rescan on my TV, and I've been busy the past few days, but I will give that a try this evening and hope that the problem recovers. (Not sure where that post went...)

Does anyone else have audio problems with WDTN (2-1, NBC)? The audio is behind the video by a split second, it's very annoying. I've tried it through the TV speakers and my stereo and the result is the same. All other stations work fine.

I noticed this also last week and i left a message on Al's cell phone (ch 26 old chief engineer, now he works for both stations). They had similar sound problems around christmas on ch.26 with muffled sound from their dolby output. Ch.26 merged or is merging with ch.2 and the new head end is now in indianapolis (not dayton). Now if they want to change the audio feed to their broadcast tower they have to remotely change it thru the indianapolis head end which can be challenging. call Al at wdtn engineering and inform them of their problem. ]

I pointed something similar out a couple years ago (or so) in either this or the Cincinnati thread and I was reminded that person's email address was listed on the stations web site for any and all spammers to harvest.

Actually, when it comes down to it, lately I don't even bother with the things we used to have to do to keep from getting deluged with spam. Why? Gmail! Best spam filter ever. I imagine since they have done well with it that the other corporate email filters have caught up and it's not the issue it used to be.
