AESpeakers TD Series group buy!!! - Page 26

OK, maybe this is some ignorant question; but why can't you simply just spray paint the thing black and be done with it? I don't see the fuss about having these custom anodized.

It won't provide the protection, and can end up being uneven after being applied, but I'd probably end up doing this myself.

Protection from what; are you putting these in the oven? biggrin.gif

From the massive excursion I'll be putting them through. smile.gif

If you have an iPhone 5, you can see how easily aluminum can scratch by not putting a cover on it.

Anondizing would also look better than a condom on the phase plug.

Ummm, if you quit stroking the phase plug you wouldn't have an issue with scratching them. wink.gif

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the chance of black spray paint flaking off from excursion is highly unlikely.

I have (3) TD 15M 4ohm on the way and was wondering what I could do with them. The original plan was a DIY 2 way design but since I have moved on to some Danley SM 96's. Could these still be used in any way and be added to the system or should I sell?

Out of curiosity; what caused you to choose them over the TD. That driver is one to beat.

They won't work as subs, so I'd either just store them for future use (maybe in another room), or sell them and recoup some funds. Trust me, they won't sit for long on the forum.

You may want to read up on the Danley SM 96, it is not a driver. Anyone using a TD driver for a DIY project would be happy to approach the sonic virtues of a Danley design.

I could not wait any longer on the AE drivers which is why bought the Danleys. Ive been told I could add a TD 18 top and bottom for a overkill LCR but Iam not sure I wanna head that route.

Well you already have three, so there's nothing stopping you from making a start and adding the fourth when you can get hold of it. It does seem that much of John's supply issues have been resolved.

Why not? I'm going with a TD15X above and below my Unitys.

Gotcha. Didn't pay much attention. He said he ordered a TD15 and didn't need it so I just assumed he replaced with another driver.
