'Hart of Dixie' on The CW

I am surprised this show hasn't received a thread. I've only seen a few of the new fall shows so far, but of those 'Hart of Dixie' is my favorite. The pilot had a nice mix of drama and slap-stick comedy and even a surprising little plot twist at the end.

I just started watching 'The O.C.' at the gym and I'm about 2/3 of the way through the first season. In it, Rachel Bilson plays a high school student who is what I would consider a borderline air-head. So I wasn't certain she would make a believable doctor, but I was pleasantly surprised. They kept the medical jargon to a minimum and focused much more on the practical side and her body language when she was stitching someone up or fixing a dislocated shoulder or delivering a baby simply felt natural and right. By the end of the episode I could comfortably accept her as a doctor.

I thought the rest of the cast worked well, too. With a single episode it's hard to know where they are going, but hopefully the other characters will be interesting and well rounded. 'Northern Exposure' seems the most obvious comparison with the similar 'doctor forced into unusual surroundings' premise. I remember enjoying that show in the beginning, but eventually my enthusiasm waned as the characters all seemed to turn into caricatures. Hopefully, this show can avoid that pitfall.

The finale (last night)--I always thought Zoe and Wade would get together from the beginning. As smart as George is, I never understood why he kept putting up with Lemon. But now, both Zoe and George are really in an awkward position. Will Zoe once again break Wade's heart to go to George? Will she explain to George that she's now with Wade and leave George trying to make it up with Lemon? I find this show mindless humor. Just fun to watch. Any comments from anybody?

I DVR it and watch it whenever nothing better is on, it's not a bad show. While the finale wasn't bad, it was fairly predictable.

I like the show mostly for the eye candy and excellent picture quality. In my market anyway it's 1080i and very sharp and well lit. Funny thing about the lighting that I'm not sure if others have noticed....Practically every scene the sun is bright and shinning and illuminates the actors hair from the side. Even in a bar scene the sun is shining and no matter where the person is situated the sun lights up their hair from behind
Predictable yes but really shows off my HDTV

I enjoyed the show the whole season. The most pleasant surprise was how the character of Lemon grew on me over the course of the season. I didn't care for her much in the beginning, but she seemed to grow the most with the plot lines about her mother, her relationship with her sister, and the situation with the mayor. Now, if she isnt' my favorite character, she is at least a close second to Zoe.

I'm glad it got renewed for a second season. Now if only they could give it a stronger, more compatible lead-in than Gossip Girl. Although after looking at the new shows they have picked up for next season, none of them look like a good fit with Hart of Dixie.

SUBJECT: Who's on First, What's on Second?
.
Anyone have a clue as to whether or not "Hart of Dixie" s3e1 will air on 10/07/13, or there'll be football? confused.gif

TitanTV (for my Hauppauge PVR-1212) and Zap2It show football - Epguides, Futon Critic show "Hart of Dixie".

The first episode is scheduled for October 7, but it could get replaced with something else in your market. I'd be kind of surprised if a season premiere got bumped off the schedule, though.

It appears to me that Lemon (Jaime King) is (actually) pregnant. Did anyone else notice this in this season's first episode? Here were the clues I noticed.
1-She only wears very loose fitting clothing. Not true in last season's shows.
2-She was almost always covered (by a desk counter, fence, table, etc.) when being viewed from the front.
3-If she were shown full figure, you only saw a back-shot of her. If shown full figure from the front, she always had something in her arms covering her front.
4-In the only "tight" fitting dress she wore (the "period" gown for the parade), the front of the dress had a LOT of loose frill on it. And, she was sitting at a table which "bunched" the loose frill up which hid her figure.
5-To me, her face looked very "puffy" as opposed to last season. And (this is subjective-not sexist), her chest looked much larger than it did last season.

If my conclusions are correct, the writers are going to write in this pregnancy with her admission that she (in the story) couldn't get tired of having sex from (the character) "Meatball".

Anybody care to voice an opinion?

I didn't notice it but then again I wasn't looking either. I did notice George had bulked up a bit over the summer, I'll have to watch Lemon closer next week.
Still GREAT looking HD in my market, all the scenes are very well lite and great looking colors, a guilty pleasure for sure smile.gif

DDD-Thanks for the info from the LA Times. It obviously appears my assumptions were correct. It's just that I was out of the loop for not knowing that she just recently gave birth.
