speaker wiring size question

I am using very thin speaker wires to connect all 5 speakers. Since my center and fronts are around 5-15 ft long, is it alright to stick with what I have, or should I buy 16awg? I know my rears I should run thicker wires, because they are using around 25-30ft per wire.

"Very thin" doesn't really mean much. You shouldn't use anything less than 18 gauge, and 18 is only good for about 25 feet.

16 is good for up to 40-50 feet max.

Just buy a roll of 16 or 14g from Monoprice. You can get 250 feet for $55.

I'm not sure what gauge thickness it is, but it came with my sony home theater in a box if that makes a difference. Right now it sounds good. But I'm not sure if I'll notice a difference if I replace my wires for thicker ones.

If it came with a HTIB, then it's probably 22 or 24g. It makes sense to replace all the wires.

for those 5 speakers you need to buy about 100 ft.

go to monoprice and get this.

Or get more if you think you need extra wire.
