List of budget subwoofers ($300 and less) - Page 26

I would definitely go with the SVS PB10, it will dig deeper and probably have better output than the other two.

Got my hands on an NXG-BAS-500, just want to report in, It sounds better than the $450 klipsh at the local best buy.  I highly doubt there is a better sub for $260.  HIGHLY.  It's a joy to listen to, even at high volume.  The extension on this driver is huuuuuge.  She can really move some air!

Two complaints, one, there's no way it goes down to 18hz.  Not even close, I'd say 25 or so.  Not a huge deal, but just want to throw that out there for perspective buyers.  I've driven it as hard as she can be driven and there's just a little port noise, which you can't hear unless the speakers are way down and the sub is way up.

Two, I listen to some pretty technical death metal and It just can't quite play all the base and drums when it gets crazy.  Gets a little sloppy, especially at high volumes.  Other than these two complaints, I'm very happy with this sub.  Hotel California and The Wall are just plain fun to listen to.

It's a 55 watts continuous 10" subwoofer--king of wimpy. Get the Lava LSP12 for just a little more. smile.gif

Klipsch Sub-12HG is on sale for $180 plus tax. I would be upgrading from a Polk PSW-10. i know it would be a huge upgrade but how does the Klipsch sub perform against others in this thread?
Sub-12 is a fantastic value sub for under $200. The down firing design hits very hard in 30-50Hz region. Useful clean output is till 26-27Hz, though it does go down to 24Hz. There is zero port noise even when pushed hard.

Above 80Hz it gives away its location, so, don't cross it above that point. Plays loud and clean till 26-27Hz.

Where are they selling for $180? braveheart seems to be very impressed, so for that price it might be quite a deal. Klipsch lists it as discontinued, ala RW-12D, so I wonder if this is going to be the never ending sale again.

Was on Amazon as the Gold Box deal. The deal has since expired. I resisted the urge... Don't know if that was a good or bad idea.

Jim Dayton Audio now has the SUB 1500.
I bought it and with my 18 x 25 living room it gets things shaking! the whole house actually.

Thanks for the info. I did indeed see they had released the 1500. I think it's a nice addition to the line (I'm actually watching a football game using the SUB 1200 at this very moment). I'm glad it's worked out so well for you - they're certainly cheap enough.

So far I like it. I was impressed with how it actually put bass in my living room where all others have failed.

I gave it a shot for $215 shipped. If it didn't work out I would have gave it to someone. But fortunately it worked out in my space which is a 18 x 25 living room with all hardwoods, a glass sliding door and the opening to kitchen/hallway.

Now after watching movies I have to readjust All the wall pictures/art.

The auto feature is working for me.

My room is 13x25 with an open kitchen too so glad that it works for you, have you tried it with music?

I went with the 5 year old SVS PB10. It sounds and good if not better than my ED A2-300 sub.

The question remains should I repair the ED A2-300 sub? Will cots me about $200 for a new amp and labor?

I probably wouldn't. It is hard to integrate two different subs, and I don't know that you could sell the eD for much more than $200 anyway.

Hello

Which are currently the best subwoofers available at discount prices in the upcoming black Friday and cyber Monday 2013 sales.

Currently at 89 dollars the Polk Audio PSW10 10-Inch Monitor Series Powered Subwoofer seems like an interesting choice.

Does anyone know how good the Polk Audio PSW10 is for movies in a 5.1 large speaker setup? Some posts claim the psw10 is not big enough for use with large speakers. Maybe so...but are there any better subwoofers for movies at similar discount prices?

Were there any good subwoofer deals back in black Friday/cyber Monday 2012?

Thanks.

No way the PSW10 is good for a large speaker setup. In fact the PSW10 won't even add anything to a large speaker setup. It is meant to be used with small satellite speakers only. Anything larger the PSW10 just chokes.

FYI for anyone who is in for the BIC PL-200. There's an Ebay 24 hour sale that ends soon for $249 with free shipping. Unfortunately I have an open floor plan and none of the subs under $500 are going to fill my 5000 cu ft of space:mad:

What about a pair of the PL-200's? That would be $500, and should at least do pretty well in that much space.
Would 2 PL-200 be better than one Hsu VTF-2 MK4? My problem is that I have hardwood floors and going under or over the room is not an option for the second sub. I would have to look into wireless options for the second (or both).
^

HSU will dig a bit deeper. The PL-200 pair will be louder.
