Older plasma does not work with latest TWC STB

I have a Samsung HP-S4253 purchased in 2006 and I just received my Time Warner STB which is a Samsung SMT-H3362. When I try to use HDMI to connect, I get a "Not support mode" on my TV for both HDMI inputs. I then use the component out and I get the 480i signal to appear. Not sure what gives here and any help is appreciated. Are the HDMI versions off? I can't find any specs regarding the HDMI version on the STB.

Rebooting both devices (unplugging for 30s) yields the following:

Display on TV does show gray background with "Loading, please wait... v4.7.5.2 and the Samsung logo"
Message on STB: OCAP, TV: No Signal
Message on STB: AiT, TV: No Signal
Message on STB: APP, TV: No Signal
Message on STB: L-13...decrement to...L-1, TV: No Signal

After the green display on STB decrements to L-1, it then shows the current time and powers off. I turn power on and message on TV appears "Not supported mode".

My parents have that exact tv and I used it for a time frame and IIRC, the tv does not support 480i through the HDMI connection. Change the output of your STB to 480p, 720p, or 1080i when connecting through component and then try HDMI again.

Thanks for the quick tip, that enabled the signal to come through. I selected only 720p and 1080i and now I'm getting pictures.

And apparently, I didn't realize the messed up nature of TWC channel locations. All good now!

To add to this, i recommend setting your DVR to output only 1080i.

I've tried all output resolution combinations on my TWC SA8300HD DVR, regular non-DVR HD box, and my HD Tivo on my various TVs as well as on friends' TVs and it makes the 720p channels look crisper and more detailed, and also make channel-changing much faster and eliminates all the contortions the TVs go through when trying to resolve the resolution when changing between channels with different output resolutions. Try it and see.

^^^+1 in my experience with various boxes/tvs.

Thanks for the additional tip. I would agree that overall, every channel looks "cleaner" and definitely the response between channels is better.
