*Official* WD TV Live Streaming Media Player Thread - Page 80

The very recently released device firmware for the Silicon Dust HD Homerun-3 (network based, dual ATSC/QAM tuner) has implemented a DLNA server for the tuners.

Anybody get it to work with a WD Live yet? I can see it under Media Servers on both my Live-SMP and Live+ but when selected the Live comes back and says it can't connect, resource is unavailable.

They FINALLY added the "Movies Only" filter that I had been wanting since I first tried one of these boxes early last year. I am now able to add my TV shows share drives into the mix and be able to filter either just Movies or just TV.

Bill

It's pulling from the standard TMDB.com source.

I went there and looked at alternative names and tried them all, no luck

Even if you're doing a MANUAL "Get Content Info?"

Does this still do high def audio or not

Example - Brave, The Dark Knight and The Avengers, it will not pull in metadata. Out of 31 files, 4 movies won't pull metadata.

I have named them Brave (2012).mkv and The Avengers (2012).mkv, switched to Disney's Brave an dMarvel's The Avengers and still nothing.

Not sure what is going on with these.

Anyone have ideas on how to get them to show?

I have both movies on mine and it was able to get info with no problems. Just name it Brave and The Avengers.

have you tried to rekey the title from within WD app when you try to do a rescan of content info for the movie ?? ....often what I find right away upon initial display in the field is that it contains a name different (or screwed up) up from the name you gave the physical file....I think there is an optional video name tag that encoders sometimes utilize (and or screw up)....try fixing or clearing the field on-screen and retype movie name (I've had to do umpteen of them that never got a match initially or after adding year to the file name...and many were like your examples, short and sweet names and current flicks that should have been easy).

sorry I can't recall any of the "technical" terms for this stuff...however, the WD SMP most definitely looks for presence of one of those tags and will use it if found (imo anyhow).

good luck...moo

I am trying to get the hdmi passthrough to my RXV-463 reciever and I don't get neither sound nor video. My T.V is Panasonic 42PX-80.
Any ideas what's wrong?

Does it work if your WDTV is plugged directly into the TV via HDMI?

Yes, it does.

I'll try both of these options tonight and see what works out

Ok, renaming them without the year worked for all except Expendables 2. That the only one I can't get it to pull metadata for.
Remembered another thing...if you rescan the title from options you will probably get list of flicks returned and then you can just choose the right one...often the prob isn't that it couldn't find the metadata, it is because it found multiple and couldn't decide which to select on its own.

When I go to options both on auto and manual there is no rescan option

Does it work with any other source plugged into the same HDMI thru the receiver?

Are both cables known good? Try borrowing one from another component... sometimes a cable will work with one device but not the other.

I just got a WDTV Live S and am having an issue with the metadata.
My problem concerns the data for moves. I have it set to manually get content info, but it consistently gives me the wrong data. For instance it will correctly identify the movie and gives me the information which is mostly correct but the director is wrong! How the heck can this happen. This is true for most of the movies, only a few of them are correct.

Any ideas?

It is definitely going to TMDB and that site lists the correct director.

What about SCAN then ? ...maybe RESCAN only appears after it has already got earlier info. Either will serve same purpose here. ....and if doesn't get a hit to even list any flicks, then attempt to re type on screen so you can see what text text string it is using for its search.

It's listing the Director of Photography.

I can't tell if it's a bug on TMDB's end (the API that the WD uses) or a bug in the WD parsing the data from TMDB.
OK, so there is nothing that can be done about it except to manually edit the xml file?
If it's that important, yeah -- or use a third party scraper like ThumbGen or Hubgen or whatever that knows how to do it right...

I don't pay any attention to that additional data, so I'd not noticed it until someone else mentioned it over on the WD forums.
Wow, that is the kind of thing that drives me nuts. Imagine: North By Northwest directed by Barry Schwartz. I can't believe that WD hasn't fixed this by now.

I'm going to use Thumbgen to create the xml file, that works fine.

My other concern is chapter skipping with MKV files.

Is there a work-around for this issue?

Thanks again.

The cable had a problem and I replaced it.
Thanks!

What issue is that?

I own a Roku and a WDTV Live player. Until recently I've only been using the Roku, which I bought because the WDTV Live was horrendous for using Netflix (kept forgetting login settings after a day, was frustrating to re-login using the limited user interface that frequently). I haven't used the WDTV Live for almost a year now.

But now I'm going to have a second TV in the house, and I'm wondering if the WDTV Live will work properly for what I need so I don't have to buy another Roku.

Have they fixed the Netflix forgets-your-login issue?
^^ Am I missing something here?
You say you have the WD Live, right?
So you can update to the latest firmware and try it yourself to see if the problem is resolved to your satisfaction?

Sorry, that issue is that when I hit the ">>|" button on the remote it does not skip to the next chapter when playing an MKV file. It works fine for DVD iso files. This is kind of annoying because you have to hit the options button to navigate to a chapter.

I am playing from NAS running Plex (as DLNA server), and I am having the following problem:
I only see English subtitles, while all movies has both Hebrew and English subtitles, and Hebrew is configured as default on the NAS server.
When watching the same movies by Plex client on Mac, I always see Hebrew subtitles,
Also, if I shred my folder as network drive (windows), and place Hebrew .srt file beside the .mkv file, I see correct Hebrew subtitles.
