Need some advice on hooking up B&W's 684 speakers speakers

Good day!

I am looking to purchase some B&W 684 speakers for my Pioneer Elite Plasma. I don't have a receiver and was planning to hook up the speakers to the back of the tv that offers the normal clip style for the speaker cables. Will this work?

The tv manual states the speaker amp is 17 w per channel at a 6 ohm.
The B&W speakers are to run on 25w to 150w at 8 ohms. Would there be any harm to setup the speakers this way to the tv directly?

Someday I do plan to get a receiver but for now this is how I would have to use the speakers, I know it might not be ideal.

Also I know that the b&W's can do duel wiring, can I do that to the tv with that only has single wire for the positive and neg?

Sorry about all the questions as I am a newbie at audio

Probably not a good idea, but if you do, the key would be to just not turn it up very much at all, keep the volume low so the amp in the TV does not clip and ruin your speakers.

You could bi-wire with smallish wires, but i don't think it is going to help you at all with sound quality.

Gotcha. I don't listen to the music very loud and its located in a small bedroom so I guess it is ok. It should still be a big step up from the stock speakers the tv comes with no?

Will I notice a difference with a receiver? What Pioneer receiver would you recommend for the 684's and would bi-wiring be an increase in quality with the receiver?

I wouldn't recommend connecting the 684s until you have a decent receiver. The 684s are nice speakers and it would be a shame to accidentally damage them by clipping. What's your budget for a receiver and do you have to go with a Pioneer? How big is the "small" bedroom?

A tremendous difference using a receiver, whether your use a Pioneer or another good brand such as Onkyo, Denon, or Yamaha.

As for bi-wiring, people debate as to whether or not it improves SQ. Do it as an experiment, but not because you have hopes to notice a difference.
