Lots of inside jokes, but one has to be familar with the characters/show to appreciate it all.

I have watched it from its beginning.
It didn't start out with much humor.
However, as time went along it becames more so, to where it is now almost on equal footing with the horror stuff.

Fine acting, writing, and excellent characters IMO.
Perhaps the best way to get into it is to check it out on disks first.

Yeah, and the series really started to hit it's stride mid season 2 and seasons 3-5 were the best. I still grab a season set every once in a while when I'm not in the mood to watch anything else. What other show would have a character (Dean) call an angel (Castiel) a "junkless dick!"

For me that would be the only way to check it out. I avoid all CW programming due to the ridiculously giant/opaque logo and promo text. It's an fricking insult to viewers IMO.

LOL, I had forgotten that line.

Last night's episode was better. Pretty nasty Motw, a little exposition about human/beastie relations, why Grimm's shouldn't marry and a little snippet of Captain about to be in conflict with Reapers over Grimmboy. They pulled the curtain a bit and I want more. It's funny that I like the show, but don't know any of the characters names (or their names in real life). Usually, if I'm interested, I take the trouble to find out, but I really don't care for this show. I'm just enjoying the stories.

Yeah, last episode got a little darker, but still had some comedy in it .. "Grimm" is a guity pleasure for me ..

If he keeps eating dinner with his monster buddy instead of his girlfriend, he won't have to worry about breaking up with her, because she'll dump him.

It was also interesting that after complaining about the lack of rain and the dropping of the Captain's subplot, last night's episode had both.

He does have a very understanding girlfriend .. no doubt ..

Dinner appeared to be gonad goulash...and then Wolfboy started in on the ground organ business...perfect timing. I got a chuckle.

Just enjoy the simple fun that I have watching this show. Wonder how well it did in last nights ratings.

Seems that NBC thinks it is useful since repeats will show up in "The Firm"s spot on Thursday.

+1
More of the Captain subplot, please....

After the build-up, I was surprised he didn't tell her THE TRUTH in this episode.
No doubt, it is coming.

the lack of rain

Trust me here....the waiting is always short.

Very good episode. Dark for sure! Predictable as all get out but still great. Monroe's scenes were freaking awesome, the dinner date had me laughing out loud, he is still the highlight of the show.
This was definitely a darker episoded. I'm glad the Captain and the Reapers subplot is surfacing again. Although I'd like to see more than just the last minute or two devoted to it.

Re: Lack of rain - hadn't rained here in over a week until this morning.

I'm enjoying the show, too. Liked the "this town is getting weirder" remark. Was that a shout-out to "Portlandia"? Not sure all these Portland-centric shows are beneficial to the area's image the way the plot lines are drawn, but we do enjoy seeing local scenes on TV. And they're all good for the local economy.

I thought it was a bit strange (except for tying in to the episode title) the detectives had to rely on the puka shell trail to lead them to the building where the eviscerations were being conducted when there was a raging pit fire going on out back.

As we western Oregonians say: If it hasn't rained yet...wait an hour.

Agreed.

OK, now you're just being picky...

The following the breadcrumbs bit was essential to the story (fairytale), so they were constrained to put it into the story as the means by which the detectives find the kids. It was a, well, requirement.

Spider Queen bad, Amy Acker good.
"Fred" (from the much missed Angel TV series) has evolved to a very, very high degree of hotness.

This was a good episode, but there are a few problems with the plot that need to be addressed.
When is the Captain, who is some kind of sheriff/king of the super-critters, going to get into the storyline more?
How credible is it that Hank (a homicide investigator) seems clueless there is something really weird happening in Portland right now?
Or that Juliette isn't more spooked about what is happening around her, and that she is OK her beau is spending evenings away from her (in the secret trailer)?

Oh you mean the trailer that's small on the outside but LARGE on the inside I want one of those
I too was just remarking on how a relatively small town like Portland can have so many odd occurrences and not get national attention......
Oh well, fun to watch anyway

The last scene, predictably, showed why Grimms are necessary. As soon as daughter hits the change (if she hasn't already), then she'll go on a killing spree. I guess Nick sadly realizes he's got to do something about her. I wonder if they'll wrapup that loose end. As far as Hank and Juliette figuring things out...they probably will get clued in at some point, but since they can't see the wesen, all they've got so far is that weird things are happening (see, I'm starting to know character names now ). Saw an interview with the showrunners who stated that the back nine will develop the backstories and mythology more thoroughly. I'm watching every week and enjoying this one.

Also enjoying Grimm still.

Portland is larger than most people realize, and not as wet. We rarely get a downpour (no umbrella, and no raincoat for me), and Northwest rain as seen on TV usually makes us laugh. The 2010 census has Portland at 843,776, 29th largest in the US, with metro population 2.2 million, 23rd largest.

Don't feel bad...I had to look their names up this morning on IDMB.
I keep wondering why Hank as a Grimm can't "see" the creature in his boss, the police captain/lieutenant or vice versa. Most of the other bad dudes take one look at Hank and cower in fright. Or have I missed something obvious?

I did too, last week

Hank is the black guy. Nick is the Grimm. I've thought about this too. Nick doesn't always see the critters on first encounter. I don't think it's been explained, maybe they have to manifest or he's got to look closely or something. I think the Captain is special. Has more control or doesn't look any different (I kind of doubt that). When he's revealed it will doubtless be a big dramatic moment.
It was explained that Nick can only see their Vessen forms when they lose control (fear, other strong emotions). That's why he can't tell if they're Vessen when they're dead. Of course, since they fear him, they often lose control when they see him. Very helpful. (Although they haven't explained how the Vessen recognize him as a Grimm.)

Ahhh, thanx for that.

Unfortunately, I missed the first few episodes.

I guess I missed that episode too (or was it 2, didn't see the one with the bear critter(s?). Never found out what happened to Auntie Grimm in the hospital.

I'm not sure how many I missed, but quite a few.
Guess I'll have to get caught up on home video.

I thought they made it clear that she died. Or did you mean you wanted more specifics?

This started today in the UK on "Watch HD". I was very much looking forward to it, and after having seen the first episode I am very much looking forward to the rest of the stuff!

At the end of the pilot, the blond hexinbeast was trying to inject her, but got Nick instead. I think that was the end of the show. I was unsure if she died or not. I didn't see the next ep, so if there was carryover or more reveals about Grimms, I missed it.
