She died in the next episode, IIRC.

It's been awhile since I've seen it, but before she passed, she was able to mumble more Grimm info to Nick.

That's how I figured it must have played out...thanks Wabo.

Who said the Grimm's Lieutenant is a creature? He is a reaper but we have not been told he is a creature too. Reapers may be human.

Nope, he's the top dog wessen in the region, nobility. A Reaper came through with his sites on Nick. Cap forbade it and cut the Reaper's ear off as a lesson. That ear along with a phone call from the Reaper brotherhood showed up a couple of weeks ago. It sounded like Cap is getting ready to throw down with the Reaps.

That would be cool.

Sure he is the top dog, etc. etc. but there has been nothing in the show that stated he had to also be a supernatural creature, he can still be human and be top dog. We don't know anything of the behind the scenes of how it is all setup to know more. Maybe a human is in control of all this as the top dog and the supernatural creatures are fed up with it.

This from the Grimm site...

Sasha Roiz stars in NBC's new drama series "Grimm" as Captain Renard, Nick's politically adept superior officer and a descendant of a powerful line of Grimm royalty.

I think they meant wessen royalty.

There was also a primer on Grimm beasties on the site that I couldn't find now, but read before that described this nobility slightly and stated that hexenbeasts are their main servants. He's supernatural, but we don't know what he looks like (if different), his goals regarding Nick...just that he's pretty slick and might be protecting him or setting him up later.

I did find this...

Quote:

A Hexenbiest is a witch-like creature that resembles a demon or goblin. They work at the command of royalty and are extremely loyal creatures. Untransformed, they can be identified by a dark birthmark on the underside of their tongues.

Since there's not much written about this royalty, I'm sure the showrunners are setting up a big reveal later. Whether the guy looks human or turns into Count Dracula (my suspicion), I highly doubt he's human. Then again, as stated by yourself and myself, we don't know much other than he took down a Reaper pretty easily.

oink, male hexes have to check for spots on their taint. You're looking in the wrong place.

I really liked this week's episode, both for its sadness and for the presence of the beautiful and talented Amy Acker as the doomed spider woman creature. When the writers also showed us that her daughter is afflicted with the same curse, it was heartbreaking. This episode gave new meaning to the old term, "The Curse."

They aren't cursed, as in cursed humans. They just ARE whatever species they happen to be (forgot the name). Both she and her husband are of the same species, so naturally their daughter was too. This didn't surprise me for a moment--I expected it, and so did Nick. I would hardly call it heartbreaking when they so strongly hinted at it earlier on in the show. They merely confirmed it at the end.

While is was somewhat sad that the daughter was the same species and got hauled away, acid vomiting down ones throat and then sucking out your insides in order to stay young is hard to have any lasting sympathy for ..

I thought the old woman in the home did a great job on this episode ..

More Amy Acker, please....

Oh, I think they are cursed. Notice how the Acker character was tortured by her need to continue to serially kill young men in order to retain her own youth. Nevertheless, despite her anguish, she did it in order to preserve her relationship with her husband and daughter. Now, her daughter will be faced with having to make the same, awful choices when she reaches puberty. The mother's dilemma was about as close to a curse as I can describe. Anyway, this week's show was fun and thought provoking.

+1! I love Amy Acker's skill as an actress and she's not half bad to look at either.

Until this Spider-Babe episode I knew nothing of Ms. Acker.

Wow. You should go and watch Angel. She was a great addition to the cast in season two, but in the final season she kicked ass by transforming into a completely different character. It's one of the only times I can remember where killing a beloved character had no negative repercussions at all.

I watched last week's episode last night (been on vacation).
I am pleasantly surprised to report the showrunners must have been listening to our complaints.
This was an excellent episode.

The trailer indicates the "Sheriff" is cutting loose tonite and will be kicking some!

I thought you were on a permanent vacation there, oink.

It was great seeing the captain taking a more hands on approach. What sort of creature was the "priest" he deployed on the probation officer?

I resemble that remark!

I don't believe it was identified...
But apparently it is some kind of super kickass thingy....maybe the Sheriff's Enforcer?

Given it was priest, I thought it'd be appropriate if it was a Wraith. (Wraith of God.)

3 coins was another decent ep. Silas Adams turned into a pretty cool critter. Still haven't seen ol' Cap transform and there was plenty chances. The verse is slowly building into an interesting world.

I agree.
IMO, tonite's episode is the best so far...

One coin to rule them all..
Two coins to hide them...
Three coins to make a feast and in the darkness bind them...

OOOaahhh...my precious

Ol' Cap didn't put up much resistance to his dark side. I guess only Grimm's can. It was a nice touch with the Adolf filmclip. What did he transform to...a Blutbad?

I don't know.
I can't keep track of the various critters on this show.

"They're baby eating badasses, man. What more do you need to know?" Monroe rocks.

Another good episode. Smokey from Lost is always a plus. I was waiting for someone to hold the coins and say, my precious.

I so thought the Captain was going to unleash his inner critter awesomeness in the police parking garage. That was a little underwhelming.
