Thanks! How do I send a command to port 3 (the IR blaster) instead of the default port 1?

Mborner is correct. But it may help you if you watch the tutorial videos, as it shows you how to change a whole set of commands in one go, using find and replace.

I have watched that tutorial now that you remind me, I just haven't decided how best to make use of it. Do you routinely send the same command to all three ports, or not? When I was using a Pronto, I set up an IR distribution block from Xantech which is still present, and an IR543 from X10 also still in place. So I am using a dual emitter from the GC device, port 1, with one emitter placed on the receiver to the Xantech block, and the other onto the IR543.

The curtain control in the HT has it's own receiver near the upper right corner, so I thought I would use the blaster from port 3 to see if it will reach that far (about 10 feet). Should work from what I have read.

Any ideas about how to neatly and firmly stick the emitters to the receiver windows? I'm using scotch tape for now, but don't care for the look (no one but me ever notices these things). I'm not going to place the emitters internally as some have done...too much trouble.

Another question: After modifying my project considerable, the buttons don't show up in the GUI on the iPad. There are ones with a red X through them.

There's probably a folder in the wrong place, but what and where?

Your .pad_files folder and your .pad_file must be in the same directory (folder).

Thanks, don't know how I mixed that up, but it's straight now.

New question: I'm still working on importing IR commands via iLearn, and I find the remote from Xfinity (Comcast) isn't recognized by the iTach CG-IRL. Do they speak different languages? The Vol adjust is recognized, but nothing else. I have had control of the same cable box with my Pronto, and can import most commands from the Pronto. However the Pronto commands never included DVR control. Maybe I will never get everything controlled my thr iPad.

I think your Comcast receiver should be able to work over the network if it is a HD DVR.
Would you elaborate on that answer, please? Do you mean the cable box can be controlled using the serial device instead of the IR? Thus far I haven't gone that route...I've already spent more than two hundred dollars on this experiment. Maybe I shouldn't balk at another hundred.

Does your cable box have a network connection??
If not then forget my statement.
I know Comcast has an App that control their boxes, so I assumed they would have a network connection.

Can someone post the rough size for backgrounds and buttons? I realize they can be scaled down, so even if they are larger in size that is OK. What I was wondering is the static background size and how big the graphics should be for things like buttons, sources, etc.? Plan to use Photoshop to either make some or edit what I have.

Also, does anyone know of people sharing some graphics with others or IR codes for sources?

Thanks

Hi!

Im using this great forum to learn to use Demopad!

I have a homecinema and for watching TV im using a Dreambox http: //dream.reichholf.net/wiki/Enigma2:WebInterface#Miscellaneous! But i had no chance that i got it to work!

Maybe im using the wrong parameters under device properties! Im using now the IP address (100% correct) and Port 80! What Command Suffixs i have to use - or should i use an other port?

I defined the command: web/remotecontrol?command=116 (PWR Toggle) but it did not work!

Webinterface for dreambox is working!

Regards
Sigi

P.S.: I attached some screenshots from my actual work....

We need to know which device you need sizes for. iOS or Android? iPad or iPhone? Retina display or not?

Sorry, forgot that part.

It is for both iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, iOS latest version obviously. They don't have retina yet, but looking to iPad 3 it may then, so want to take that into account.

I have already done some custom graphics in Photoshop playing around with it to get a theme going, size buttons, etc. Got some ideas for a template too, so just getting some input.

Also, does anyone know why PNG transparent graphics don't seem to show in the DemoPad software? I know for a fact they are transparent in Photoshop and other image programs and saved them that way. But when I place them as either a "button" or "image" they always have a white background.

Thanks.

Well, I'm not sure. I do use their app on my iPad to schedule recordings, and I have wondered how the information is finding its way to the cable box. The box has a coax connection from the outside world, but is not connected to my LAN with Cat5 or anything. Since the internet arrives via the same cable I guess I thought the iPad used the internet to pass along my recording requests.

By using the cable box remote and capturing the IR commands with the CG-IRL, I have been able to control most cable box functions with DemoPad. Strangely the IR sent as a command from pressing the My DVR button is not recognized by the CG-IRL, so I haven't been able to get that to work.

Also I am finding that trying to enter a channel number via a virtual number on the iPad doesn't really work...the response is so sluggish the request gets jumbled along the way. To be fair, the slow response is also pretty bad when using the original IR remote, but will work if patient. Setting up a page of channels commonly watched is the way to go here, but I haven't done so yet.

iPad is 1024 X 768
Retina iPhone (4 and 4S) is 640 X 960
non retina iPhone is 480 X 320

Although your .png buttons appear to have backgrounds on them, it only appears that way in the designer software. Once downloaded to your i device, the backgrounds will not be seen.

Does anyone have any IR codes they can share from their DemoPad control file? I could use some for things like DirecTV DVR models 21-25, Apple TV, Roku, XBox 360.

Will try to get them programmed later, but it would help if someone already had them without doing all by hand.

Also, must say I am loving DemoPad so far and like how nice it is to use and setup.

Here's an iLearn file for AppleTV (new silver remote). Its currently setup for port 2 so you will need to edit the first 2 in each command to 1 or 3 if you want to use one of the other iTach ports.

IRCodes AppleTV.txt 1.6337890625k . file

Thanks so much, that helps. Once I get my Global Cache IR Lerner, I would be willing to help others too.

If anyone else has codes for any of the other devices I listed they would be appreciated.

Are those Xenon templates or something you made? They look great.

Does anyone control a Denon receiver using Demopad via Ethernet?

I cannot get the unit to power up or down using PWON and PWSTANDBY

Any ideas?

Sorry. Typo causing issue. Sorted now

I'm running a 4308avr via Ethernet
Can you get the denon to respond to any command?

Nevermind, just read your edit.

Just wondering if anyone is getting replies from support? I emailed them last week and haven't heard anything back. Maybe they're just busy making this program even better (full feedback).

I have been in email contact today and throughout the last week.

I would try them again, they usually reply in a matter of minutes.

One thing that I would like to do is cut and paste from different projects. Can this be done as I cannot find a way?

Thanks

So what is considered the best hardware to use with this app? I'm looking to control several IR, RS232 and IP devices. (4 ir, 4 rs232 and 2 Ip devices). It looks like the GC100 might make sense? How do you feel this compares to the irule?

Looks like a great product though. Thanks guys.

I am currently setting up a Global Cache GC 100-12 unit and so far it works great with DemoPad. As to how it compares with iRule, you can find other comments here on that and check in that thread for more. But so far, I am really liking DemoPad quite a bit and they have VERY good support too.

Good luck

Thanks MGJ. What is typical if I need more than the 2 rs232 ports included in the GC100. Just add another unit?

A standard ethernet to RS232 converter will do the job. Omega do some good ones but there are plenty of others on the market, as the process is used for all sorts of applications such as point of sale terminals and controls systems.
