Well, if there are going to be major changes in the next HDMI revision after 1.4b, I'm not upgrading or buying anything until hardware that supports that is out.
With a bunch of kit that already does 1.3, all that I get by buying kit that does 1.4(a,b) is a reason to spend more money. Think I'll sit it out for a couple of years.
And it would seem that the manufacturers/HDMI understand this problem and products are now prohibited from mentioning which version they are compatible with in logos, so it will require reading fine print to determine this.
