for those that may excitedly ignore their brains...
from the connect site:
"It has come to our attention that some of our Public Preview participants are receiving erroneous e-mail information, not sent from the program, instructing them to click on a link to take the next steps to register their console. This is FALSE information and users should not follow any e-mail instructions. All of our instructions for the program will be hosted on this portal available only to those that are registered into the program.
ACTION: Please delete any e-mails you've received that give you instructions on next steps as they are not from the program and could render your registration in a declined state."
wow, that's scary -- how could phishing bots get the email addresses of those who signed up for the dashboard preview program?
easy. people sign up for message boards (plenty of gaming message boards) and tend to use the same emails for their memberships. then you blind send to these emails, hoping to catch some idiots.
beta dash update console registrations have begun. go to the microsoft connect site.
my question is... should I download the beta update to both of my consoles? or keep one normal, "just in case"?
I'm tempted to just do both of them.
I was thinking the same thing, I personally wouldn't worry about it, especially since they specifically discuss using it on multiple consoles. I think I will do both even though I don't use the second much at all.

I've always been curious about this... If an update borks your 360, what happens? Do you have to repair the system at your own cost?
Not too sure what their policy is on that, maybe someone here has had an issue over the last couple of previews? I'd guess if it's linked directly to the preview they would make it right.

if you would have read the tiny bit of text in the beta installer, you would have seen that you can install on up to 3 consoles in your own home so long as they stay in your possession for up to the next 3 months.
they even give you instructions on how to sign into the same gamertag on another console and access your download history.

That sucks. They aren't taking anymore. Oh well I lost out

the question wasn't whether I can. it was whether I should. I thought of keeping a regular 360 in case anything went wrong.
Yes, the pre-release channel should show up on the "old" dashboard. I'm hoping the new dash will be live Monday. I can't believe its taken this long... Isn't it supposed to be released to the public later this month?? That doesn't give them much time to fix things found with the beta.

There are different kinds of beta. They may not be looking to fix a lot of problems. They may just want to test the roll out of the dashboard over a large scale.
