I wasn't very clear.
After I return Charters PVR, I wont need the cable feed in the living room anymore. So I will disconnect that line from under the house, replacing the current 4 way splitter with a 3 way, and thereby increase the signal strength to the garage room.
After that, I may cancel extended basic (unless they give us a good deal). In that case I would only record whatever is un-encrypted.
Without the cable cards, I should still be able to record the broadcast channels. Hopefully, I can find the other shows on Hulu, or elsewhere. Even if we have to pay for them.
For example: My sister watches several shows on Disney. Amazon sells each episode for $1.99. Even after buying an entire season, it will cost less (per year) than the extra $37 we're being charged each month. Actually, $45/month for Internet, and probably $14 for broadcast basic, plus tax, I figure it'll be around $70/month.
Currently our bill is $137 (up from $101). Minus $70 is $67. Times 12 is $804 per year.
We now return to the topic of this thread.
