I know that getting these things installed correctly can be hit or miss and since im new to the whole thing, I was wondering if anyone had any advice or hints to make it go along smoothly.
I was told by the comcast rep to call 1-855-OKBEGIN or 1-855-652-3446 once I have possession of the tuner box. Is it really that simple? The rep thought I was hooking up a Tivo Box and I didnt really want to explain to her what the prime does, but is this still the number I need to call and follow the automated steps?
All I can say is good luck. I live in Chattanooga, and it took a half-dozen calls, hours of on-hold, being transferred/dumped to the main customer service, hung up on several times, etc... for both of my HDHRPrime tuners. They are going to want to roll a truck, and set a scheduled time for "installation" from an installer who knows nothing but how to check the signal levels and read the exact same numbers from the HDHRPrime webpages. They are going to want to try several different cards.
There is a magic phrase you have to tell them, and for the life of me I can't find it in my archives... sorry. I think you have to do two things... have them activate it, and then pair it. The activation is the easy part. Then they will continually send the pairing signal and not get a response (by design... it's a one-way communication). You will have to escalate several times. I setup Logmein.com on my system so I could remote in when they call while I'm at work... so I can read them back the exact same numbers over and over again.
The first time, I had to get the head-end engineer to do the pairing. The second time, they were able to do it... I don't know who did but it wasn't the front-line guys. If it goes beyond a couple of days of Comcast trying, open a ticket with Silicon Dust and they can give you more info on the process and the magic phrase.
