Nope. The issue is dependent on specific content provider who sends out 1080p/29 video mixed with 1080i/60 video and they switch back and forth constantly. Cable providers are not capable of doing that (cost too much).
WMC isn't designed to handle that kind of signal and will cause video card decoding chain to reset frequently. Some video card will handle it properly, some won't and cause all kinds of visual artifacts.
Obviously, WMC is also not designed to handle switching from H.264 cable channels (on some Cox systems) to MPEG2 channels. It often results in blank screen. I experienced this last week end when there is a HBO free preview. I can't imagine what will happen as more and more cable providers start to shift to H.264 compressed content to save bandwidth ( just like satellite TV providers already did).Edited by Foxbat121 - 6/15/12 at 5:32am
