Two weeks ago one of my DVRs lost 50 shows overnight. It had been only 65% full the night before and 5 regular def shows were scheduled to be recorded. The next morning, the only shows left were those I had set to never erase, and an 11 p.m. show. I called customer service & they said my DVR (SA 8300HD) must need replacing & set up an appointment. The service guy said maybe my TW DVR was dying, although it tested fine. He gave me a new DVR which means I lost the remaining shows. He said they were getting a lot of calls like mine but the others were caused by a TW software upgrade being sent to boxes. He said mine wasn't from that because mine happened the day before they started, & besides, my other DVR was still fine.
Then, exactly one week later, the same thing happened to my other DVR, only worse. This time it removed several (regular def) shows I had marked to keep as well as every show I hadn't marked. BTW, the "record log" on both sets shows that 10 p.m. shows were "not recorded because the set-top was off." (They were not.) They had recorded and erased 8:00 and 9:00pm shows. The Record logs said that the reason for all erasures was: "Deleted to make room for a new recording." Both DVRs showed only about 20% full afterwards. I called TW. The rep offered to send a repair man to look at it. I declined. She denied knowing anything about system wide erasures or software upgrades.
I called and ordered Verizon FIOS. Unfortunately I have to live with TWC for another 2 & 1/2 weeks. In the meantime, TW did it again Monday night to my second (original) box (exactly a week to the hour after the last time, & 2 weeks to the hour after the first time).
Is this happening to anybody else in SoCal (or elsewhere)?
