CES January 2012 Anyone?

CES January 2012 Anyone?

As the new year approaches, so does thoughts of CES (Consumer Electronics Show) that is taking place January 10-13 in Las Vegas. http://www.cesweb.org/

So we thought we would take a quick poll to see if you might be going as AVSForum is considering returning to CES after not attending for a few years. And if we do, we surely may look to plan a get-together.

So please feel free to take part in the poll. It is free, we don't tax for it, and you really should have no ill affects from taking part in this poll. After all, you may just feel good knowing you helped us make up our minds about attending again.

Feel free to post your thoughts to this thread if you so choose.

THANKS!

I've always felt AVS should have a presence at CES.

And I know who would volunteer to go on AVSF's behalf.

I have met quite a few AVS'ers at the Vegas CES, it would be nice if you guys provided a badge or tag for us to identify each other!

I might go this year. Considering it, and marked "tentative" for now.

Registered already, just in case I do go.

My brother and I will be attending CES in 2012 and would enjoy another AVS get-together there. We still have fond memories of the impersonators show AVS hosted several years ago (at the Sahara?).

We'll be on the lookout for another AVS event at CES.

I've never missed an AVS event at CES--until the last couple years when we all missed them! I plan to be there again in January and would be very happy to see the AVS get-togethers reinstated.

I will be back in January and have missed having the AVS party. Perhaps if not a party, then some other get together? Maybe a special area on here?

Good idea! Hopefully AVS will host a get-together but if not perhaps interested thread participants can exchange contact info and we can gather for dinner one evening during the show.

I'd like to, I've never attended - what's the fee to get in?

I moved to las Vegas in 2010 . I would love to attend. been a member since 2003 and just love AVS. I was disapointed AVS hasn't been to Las Vegas in the last few years.

I'm usually there every year. I'll more than likely be there CES 2012.

Its supposed to be a trade only event but its easy enough to get in and register for a small business or associated company. Free expo only exhibit floor passes are easily found with free registration codes here or doing a simple web search or asking any major AV retailer or vendor.

I'll be there....missed AVS no being there the last few years

Geez, I can't find any free pass priority codes yet on the web the one I found PMAFREE did not work for me registering an associate of mine right now.

Anybody got CES 2012 priority code that works now after the Sep 1, 2010 free registration deadline has expired?

My email starts getting them in December before the show every year and its a bit too early for that now.

I'll be there!

Hope to see you all again.

A few changes this year. They moved the free pass deadline up to September 1 so if you haven't already registered it will cost you for the show. That's why there are no more free pass codes. Of course, if you are friends of an exhibitor, you could always get the exhibitor to pay. They said they did that because attendance keeps growing.
I also found rooms were booking up fast in August. The rates for CES days went way up too.

Before September 1st 11:59pm EST - You Missed this FREE

September 1st - 11:59 pm EST to December 30th 5pm EST
$100.00
After December 30th 5:01 pm EST and On-site $200.00

Exhibitors still will get free pass codes and I'm sure they will be available still in a little while, its just too early now in September for them to be distributing them to people they want to encourage to attend.

As was mentioned previously, there's no way to know who,s who? You have walk up to someone and start asking what their interested in and this takes to much time with everyone tired from the CES

How about this.., provide
tags on the area of interest only, or provide tables with stickers on them marked Projectors, high end audio, video, etc. So at least you can narrow it down and make some progress in the short time available

David

Yes, I'm going to hop in the car and drive the 10 minutes it takes to get to CES. (Moved to Vegas last year.)

No, can´t find the money to travel from Denmark to Las Vegas :-(
post #26 of 76
I went for many years, but lost interest after I finished my home theater.
Planning to be there.
I voted that I will be attending but work make require me to be elsewhere. Otherwise, it would be great. And yes - I think AVS should formally attend and get those parties going again

CEDIA is plenty for us. But I wouldn't mind going to Vegas to play again.

Haven't been for 3 or so years. Went to each of the shows the 3 or 4 years before that (and AVS event). Have signed up for our "free" admission - but no firm travel plans yet. I'd say 50-50 chance we'll go.
