3. Lighting integration - Lutron or other alternatives
4. Remote control - would love to integrate an iPad into the mix
5. HTPC - still out on this, have a lot of movies on DVD/BR that I'd love to store - media is so yesterday
6. Star ceiling

That's it for now.

Bud

That's a good list. The AT Scope screen and masking are must-haves on my list now. I don't think I could build another personal theater without either of those. In my current place, I kept the AT screen, but didn't go with masking and miss it. We're moving in about 2 years, and I'm a slow DIY guy, so between the design and build, I'd get about 8.74 hours of use from the masking system before moving!

I call dibs on an invite to the first home theater meet!

Iunderstand there are not real construct plans, per se, more of a guidance and recommendations? Does it include absorption or acoustic treatment recommendations?

Guess I should read the thread, huh?

Bud

Yes as far as location goes.

Life, my friend, is in the way. Wife has been out of town, have the kiddos to run around - son is trying out for the middle school basketball team, three days of tryouts so far, baseball game last night after tryouts and then had to help him with world history homework. I did download Sketchup though. Glad they have a Mac version. I also created the albums out on Fotki for future use.

Boy, I know I've been in and out of AVS over the last couple of years, but man, there seems to be a lot of changes, new folks and some grew theaters built.

I think I need to do some reading on my side as well as start thinking/resourcing what I'd like this to look like, all said and done. Maybe I'll grab some photos online of things I like, to get the ball rolling. I also need to take some measurements for the room and lay it out (no more MS Paint pictures).

Oh, probably need a portable toilet for the bunker room too, huh?

Bud

I know what you mean about kids and sports. My son is a sixth grader. He does school basketball, school soccer and traveling soccer fall and spring. If your son played traveling soccer, we might run into each other. We have a couple of soccer games this weekend in TN., though not near Knoxville.

Years ago, a tornado hit some houses across the lake from me, then it hopped right over the top of my house (no damage). When a tornado is really close it really does sound like a freight train. Keep the tornado room accessible. At that time we did not have a safe place to go. Our stairs have an intermediate landing. I went under this area and built a box out of 3" x 3" x 5/16" angle iron and cross braced it. 100% welded connections with intermediate supports. Then anchor bolted it to the concrete floor and lag bolted it to the floor joists of the landing. It is in a corner with two exterior concrete walls. The house could collapse on it and it would support it. It was a pain in the butt to build and I hope building it was a waste of time.

Thanks Mike. Includes what materials for those locations? I really should read the thread.

Sixth grader as well here. PLaying town baseball and just tried out for the middle school BBall team (yesterday was the last day of tryouts and he went home sick from school though - he's probably done). No soccer and we haven't gotten into the travel baseball team stuff (yet).

The basic service does not go into design of absorption/diffusion panels. You would have to work out any additional work that you wanted with them.

By the way, your last theater was very nice, so I am looking forward to what you can do with this room. If there is anything I can help you with, let me know. I have subscribed to your thread.

Woohoo! Good news.

Appraisal number two was high enough to get the buyers the finance. Eleven more days before I'm free.

That is very good news. I can remember the waiting and slight anxiety in waiting for the house inspection and financing to come through. After all that then it is pretty smooth until the closing which by the time it rolls around is pretty much anticlimactic after all the other hoops you have to jump through just to sell a house.

Chinadog - good news on the old homestead.

And, for the record, a full head of hair isn't everything it is cracked up to be (only about half).

Hi Bud, will be following.

Just ignore anything Tom says, don't take any bait from him.

Every confidence you will beat him to completion to the finish.

Tom will be easy to ignore, just for the fact that he is not going to say anything!

Blazing Ridge was one of my research/inspiration HT builds. Reading the names of those who have stopped by this thread, takes me back a few years. This is going to be a fun one.

I would have to agree with Sdean, Blazing Ridge was a great thread, and a who's who of AVS Forum. I am really looking forward to version 2.0, Bud, good luck with the new job and settling in. I can't wait to see what you will do with the new space, it look like it has great potential.

Thanks and welcome to the madness. I think it has good potential, we'll see how much my wife lets me get carried away with it.

Nothing. Just thought I'd share, thought it was humorous. Everything is still on for Monday, although I've had to call the closing attorney several times this week because these people are idiots and don't know how to communicate.

You obviously need a heavy dose of Buyagara to improve your performance Bud! Sorry. Couldn't resist!

Now THAT is funny!

Just remember that a case of Buyagara lasting more than four hours is a reason to seek medical attention pronto!

More nonsense today with the closing attorney and some other folks, including me finding a 4100.00 mistake (not in my favor) on the HUD statement. Amateurs. I can't wait until Monday is here and gone.

Ah, that really is a bummer. Sounds like it has been quite the circus and all. It is quite the process selling a home. I hope it all smooths out and all goes as planned for Monday. I'm pulling for ya!
