Been thinking about finishing out the rest of the HVAC myself when the time comes (no reason to have these guys come back now, pretty much everything is complete and can handle it from there, right?), specifically thiking of the plenum thing that Mr. Tim brought forward yesterday. For the returns in the back, I'm thinking about a building two MDF boxes (two for the returns and two for the supplies) - roughly 8"x8"x38" to accommodate a 4"x36" register. Would seal it and use Linacoustic on the interior. It would look like Nick's:
Looking at HVAC parts today (in between fires), I found 7" starter collars at Global Industries
that I think are the correct ones:
For one of those two return plenums, I would add a smaller 4" starter collar from Global Industries
on the opposite end to feed the 4"flex duct from the Cool Cube. I don't know if this would be effective or not. Basically you'd have a box with a 4" on one end connected to the cool cube, a 7" on the other end connect to a 7" return and of course the 4x36 register. I can include a drawing if this is confusing.
For the supplies, I would build two same sized and lined MDF boxes, except that the starter collars would enter in through the back side of the box (box is still in the soffit in front of the screen wall) and the register on the bottom. The starter collars would then be connected to 7" flex duct that connects to this guy - 1st picture (also a plenum?) via two saddle tees with gaskets like below but without the damper - also found at Global Industries
Any thoughts, concerns or issues? Noise factor maybe?
