Before being digested
by Dolby, imm sound
suggested a 14.1 channel configuration (link)
for the smaller movie theater . . . which would probably work well for a high end dedicated home theater (although likely with the theatrical 2|3|4 speaker arrays replaced by single surround speakers!
I suppose it's not really very surprising that the imm sound 14.1 channel configuration
looks a lot like what you'd get by combining all of the DPLIIz, DSX, Neo:X, and CinemaDSP3D speaker layouts...?!
And if you were to 'add in' the "missing" Height Center
speaker 'in use' with Harman QLS 12.x, or Auro-3D 11.x (not to mention Hamasaki 22.2!) the new speaker config would be 15.1
, i.e., 16 channels
