Was shot on Alexa , Alexa footage like any other raw footage goes throgh significant color correction to give the final look for its target end delivery format, the video conversion is also normally slightly tweaked to best compromise it into the lesser colorspace.
Its not a question of just pushing a button or baking a simple lut into it. It requires subjective creative decision making and no two colorists will ever produce the exact same transfer in visual terms.

I found this movie a complete mess.
From it's opening and ending credits in "girls just want to have fun" pink script, to it's boring set of characters not one of which you could even begin to care for or about.
It didn't make me think. It had no message. The ending wasn't interesting in any way.
The only thing i cheered about was when the movie ended.
I'd have called it "Snoozer without a cause" instead.

Its an homage to 80s film noir. Specifically "Thief" by Michael Mann , also the Tangerine Dream style soundtrack again evocative of the 80s.
I loved everything about it , best film I've seen in years.

Point was each to their own, but no one expects to come into the drive thread to hear it slagged off, in fact mods are against it.

I'm with you on this. Aside from the very suspenseful opening scene, I thought the film was terrible. It just made me want to watch a real '80s movie, rather than this inferior carbon copy of one.

I remember the movie in general looking fairly warm, so the look on this BD is probably accurate. It's also worth noting this was shot digitally, so we're looking at a general lack of grain (save for a little video "noise" in night scenes) that's much easier to encode and generally requires less in the way of bitrate to render adequately. Unless there's a glaring flaw(s) in color/contrast on this release I really don't see how Sony could improve upon it much.

I also remember it looking fairly 'yellow' or warm throughout the movie. Screencaps look good. Hope the US version looks at least as good with no mega contrast boost or yucky EE.

Arri alexa has very tiny amounts of noise generally and is about the cleanest camera I've seen to be honest. ( to the extent its actually quite difficult to match the noise characteristics )
Its also very very film like in its exposure latitude and gamut, depite being ony 2k it has extremely good resolving and filtering characteristics.
Generally speaking I love it and I think it completely outclasses RED even at 4k and above.
The new bond film is also being shot on Alexa and generally speaking I see film -makers flocking to this camera as its comparatively cheap , well built and behaves a lot like a traditional arri film camera.

I love it too, Sigel was shocked at how clean it was at night.
He was expecting a ton of noise, and it was just not there.
It adds to the dream like qualities of the film.
The night scenes remind me of the Terminator but cleaner, the colour's are identical in places.
