Harmony Components:
Quote:
Tip: Can't Control TV /AV Receiver / STB from Revue's keyboard,

- Samsung TV, turn OFF Anynet go to Menu > Media Play >Anynet+HDMI-CEC > Setup > Anynet = OFF, Auto Turn OFF=No.

Note: Revue doesn't send HDMI control signals to HTS (TV/STB/AVR) via HDMI cables (HDMI-CEC) - All control signals are send from Revue via IR signals.

IR:
Quote:
Tip: For IR interference Harmony / universal Remote Control - try this,

Take an old 3.5 diskette apart, remove and discard top and bottom shells and woven liners, then take the dark flexible plastic magnetic disk out and cut large piece from it (discard the Hub), bend it 90° and place it to cover Revue IR window, use clear-tap to tap around it.
Make sure you cover the entire IR window (top & front) & Point the remote directly to Revue.

The dark flexible plastic magnetic disk acts well as a filter, especially when TV or other devices censers active. However, any IR remote with Revue will act slightly sluggish!

Tip: IR Blasters, will extend the IR signal - it's needed, if any of the connected devices of HTS (TV/STB/AVR) to Revue are not responding when pressing [Power] - [Volume]-[input] keys on Revue's keyboard. (it can be connected regardless! - No Con's).

Revue has a strong built-in IR Blasters that will send IR signal the IR receiver of the connected devices of HTS (TV/STB/AVR) any time [Power] - [Volume]-[input] keys on Revue's keyboard are pressed - some users may place Revue in a cabinet or place the TV distance away were the IR signal can't reach/bounce - the IR Blasters comes handy - connect it to the back of Revue and place it in front of the IR receiver (IR eye) of TV /STB/AVR - (you may connect more IR Blasters via splitters & extension cables).

Note: Revue doesn't send HDMI control signals to HTS (TV/STB/AVR) via HDMI cables (like Anynet) - All control signals are send from Revue via IR.

Tip: Adding discrete IR codes to Harmony Remote Control . (Exclude Harmony 300)

Log-in to your Harmony account on members.harmonyremote.com, then go to THIS link. You don't have to learn a button first. You create it on the fly. On that page, first click "Select an Active Device" and pick your device. Then click "Manual", paste your hex into the Data Value box under Pronto, and then click "Process". If it's valid, click "Next' and you get the option to name your new command and click "Add".
(thanks to first poster).

I doubt it. No word at all on that and it is a common complaint. You would think they would have outed that as a fix if it was done.

Well, Intel pulled the plug on Smart TV processors & Revue has the Intel CE4100 SoS chip. However, Logitech could‘ve gone with ARM chip!!

Also, Adobe abandoning Flash Player for TVs as well & Google TV is using it. Adobe has also bulled the plug on Flash for Mobile devices (acknowledging HTML5).

Now, It’s kind of a surprise to see a major update (GTV 2.0) coming to a discounted & discontinued device.

An STB by Motorola/Google TV maybe in the works (Google’s acquisition of Motorola)

Man, what's taking Logitech so long to release 3.1 for Revue? Keep checking everyday and still not there.

Could be something to do w/ Logitech's value additions to Google TV!! (like Harmony components..).
Was ready to buy a $99 Revue, but so glad I found out that Logitech was pulling the plug on this product.

Last week, BB had a 15" Leveno laptop (e.g. dual core i3, 3GB, HDMI, USB, Win7, DVD, HD etc.) on sale for $299.

Given the superior capability and flexibility in hardware and software....well worth the extra $200.

Confirmation of the death of the Logictech Revue.

In addition to what some of you astute folks spotted in Logictech's 10K financial statement.......

Yesterday, Logitech hosted an Analyst and Investor Day and during his remarks, CEO Guerrino De Luca pulled absolutely no punches in describing the "mistakes" the company made with its Logitech Revue Google TV set top box. Calling the company's Christmas 2010 launch "a mistake of implementation of a gigantic nature," De Luca told investors that the company had "brought closure to the Logitech Revue saga" by making plans to let inventory run out this quarter and that there are "no plans to introduce another box to replace Revue."

De Luca suggested that Google TV was far from ready at launch, going so far as to call it "beta" software on one presentation slide, and that the company made a massive misstep by believing that it would revolutionize television right out of the gate. In short, Logitech "executed a full scale launch with a beta product and it cost us dearly." He added more color about Logitech's failure to read the television market in his remarks:

To make the long story short, we thought we had invented [sliced] bread and we just made them. [We made a commitment to] just build a lot because we expected everybody to line up for Christmas and buy these boxes [at] $300 [...] that was a big mistake.

Found this via a Google search for Revue news...

So, will we even get the 3.1 update? And assuming we do, beyond that, will Logitech even support the Revue?
They will support it - as in.. It breaks during your warranty period they will send you out a new one. All development of software will stop and probably has stopped for a while. All that's left is last minute testing of Honeycomb.

Logitech Revue Android 3.1 upgrade starts rolling out - Engadget

It appears owners of the Logitech Revue will finally be able to get their taste of Honeycomb starting tonight, as a few lucky users have already received an upgrade to Android 3.1 and support techs have informed them a wider rollout is beginning this evening. That puts it about a month behind Sony's Google TV boxes in receiving the upgrade, but will finally bring owners a whole new UI, and access to the Android Market -- and live up to those stickers on the outside of the box. The usual considerations apply about it being a rolling update so while your $99 box may not see the new software right away, it's definitely coming.
From the posts over in the Engadget thread, there is NO UPDATE !

http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/06/l...s-rolling-out/

This all came from a thread at Logitech's Forum:
http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Revue/.../740934/page/7

* I'm guessing Logitech will have some sort of Press Release in the morning !

------------------------------------

My update, THIS MORNING:
http://blog.logitech.com/2011/12/07/...ogitech-revue/

Looks like this is happening !
Yeah, it appears Engadget took a single post from the Logitech Revue forum that claimed to have gotten the update, and blew it out of proportion by saying there were more. The update does exist, and it is due out this month according to Logitech, just not today, I guess. It certainly hasn't appeared on my Revue.

With Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) becoming available later this month (already available on one device) isn't 3.1 over the hill? Before it's even released... and with Logitech killing off the Revue what's the odds it sees another update?

GMail was in beta forever until what... last year? So yes expect updates, upgrades and new firmware versions for quite sometime.

I have no doubt Android will be updated. However since Logitech has canned Google TV I can't see them doing the (required) work to pass them on... My guess is they were stuck with 3.1 since it's on the box... after that all bets are off?
My guess is Google is too smart to not have something in a contract about continued support no matter what.

I don't think they do. Logitech is not going to upgrade after this 3.1 rollout. They are abandoning the Revue. (They don't seem to require this of phone manufacturers, look at the mish-mash of upgrades to newer android builds on older phones)

There is an article on "the verge" today stating the Google expects to have Google TV baked into about half of the TVs that are coming out next year. If that is the case, I can understand Logitech not wanting to stay in the game for much longer.
