Do people even watch shows anymore in realtime .. ?? wink.gif

Every day/night. Some I watch in real time, some on DVR.

haha, I see your point. Though, for me, I watch all my favorite shows in realtime. I basically only watch DVR'ed shows if there's a scheduling conflict.

I'm just glad we get another season! My DVR don't care when Bohannan breaks bad as long as he breaks something. smile.gif

Only the Superbowl. Even shows that I want to see "live", I start them twenty minutes late so I don't have to see commercials. cool.gif

We think alike on this one. And, commercials don't bother me all that much either. I can always find something to do during commercials (including even watch some of the more clever ones).

VHS = ugh. I started early: Betamax, then SuperBeta, then S-VHS, and finally HD recording via firewire using S-VHS tapes and a JVC 40k HD tape deck (which I still have). Skipped VHS altogether.

Yes, it was ugly .. although I did have a Beta and a Superbeta in the rack as well back in the day ..

The DVR talk is all well and good, but any drama that airs on a Saturday night is facing some incredible odds to ever be renewed for another season. I really enjoy the show, but I'll bet the ratings will be horrible.

I'm not expecting a fourth season; just happy we're getting a third and hope it finishes strong, on its own terms.

Spoken like an early adopter. I bought a first generation Betamax in the '70s but it was beyond primitive, for all the reasons you know as well as I do. I had a couple of VHS machines along the way and while they were much more reliable than the Betamax, they were just as limited. Not until I got an honest-to-God DVR in 2000, a TiVo Series1, was I able to really benefit from the ability to time shift and archive television programs.

Agree, I wonder why AMC is banishing the show to a night that has the lowest ratings of the week. This seems to be a self fulfilling prophecy on their part.

No doubt, they've said it will fit well with westerns they'll be running on Saturdays, but it seems to me they have decided this is the final season. This is AMC not CBS or ABC, you can't tell me they didn't have room for it on any other night of the week.

I can remember when Saturday night was a big TV night. CBS had a powerhouse three hour block in Fall 1973:

8-8:30: ALL IN THE FAMILY
8:30-9: M*A*S*H
9-9:30: THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW
9:30-10: THE BOB NEWHART SHOW
10-11: THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW

I feel fairly comfortable in saying that if AMC started a comic book series on Hell on Wheels, staged an event that turned a large portion of the population into what they could call "Walkers" and made Anson Mount a former sherrif now leading a small band of Human survivors in the Wild Wild West, the series would resonate and become one of the most popular shows on AMC ..

Let's call it "Walking Hell" .. the Western with guts .. wink.gif
