Can someone please try 'Avatar 3D' to see if you can get forced subs to work? The first instance they come up I believe is just before Jake extends handshake to Grace; it's when Grace is quizzing Norm on his Na'vi.

No, forced subs did not work in Avator for me.

Were you able to enable it (get it to show up) manually?

Leo, I added the forced subtitle track not showing up issue in both BD-ISO's and MKV's under 'Bug Fixes Needed' in my first post. Please send to HiMedia. Thanks.

I assume the forced subtitles not working is an issue with the BD Lite implementation. It does seem like in general BD Lite is hit or miss. Ripping HP 7 3D, will be testing out on the HiMedia at the crack of dawn tomorrow when I am awake and t he kids are asleep

*EDIT*

Just tested them out, certainly aren't on by default but the papyrus font subtitle you should see is there in the list of embedded fonts

I turned on the 900B today and I got a pop-up screen saying that a new beta firmware (1.0.0.35) was available - OK or Cancel were choices. "Cancel" was highlighted and remote wouldn't allow an change to OK. Very strange.

Anyone else that's Internet connected get this message?

Got to test out some 3D content on my mates Sony 3DTV last night. It handled every ISO I tried without a problem. Plugged in a USB mouse to use the browser and it worked right away. Really like the ease in which you are able to swap out the internal HDD, great design feature.
So apart from the player reading my Samsung Story drive VERY slowly I'm impressed with the Himedia

Is anyone else experiencing very stuttery playback using an external USB HDD like the Samsung?

Is anyone running the 900B's HDMI signal through the Mitsubishi 3D adapter?

When I do that, the picture becomes too dark and faint... it's barely watchable.

However, if I go straight to my TV, the picture is bright and perfect. But then I wouldn't get any 3D picture.

I run my other 3D BluRay and PCH-2000 through the 3D adapter without any issues.

What's special about the HDMI signal via the 900B that's causing my picture to be washed out?

I *hope* it's just a software issue. I don't think I'd want to send the machine back to China to RMA.

How much did you guys paid and what websites are you buying it from?

With the few bugs the unit has I think it's a good unit. I really hope they implement a jukebox feature soon, I have only used one other media player and that was a WD Live Hub. But that unit could not pass through DTS HD and well you gotta have that! But the jukebox feature was nice, you would transfer a movie then hit get movie info and you had a thumbnail and all the movie info with changing backdrops of the movie, it looked pretty professional! I'm not sure why this unit does not have all the menu support that the dune has maybe sometime it will, also what type of format are most people using? I was having issues with the MKV's that I was putting on but it turned out to be the software I was using.....now they play fine and show 24P correctly. Is there a reason to use something elese other than MKV? I don't think you can put a BR on with all the features most of mine just end up movie only. Is it better to use BMDV folders or ISO or MKV?

When HDMI audio output is set to auto, movies will default to 5.1 core only. When changed to RAW, it will pass 7.1 HD.

But then, Internet audio will not play unless I go back into audio settings and change the output back to AUTO.

Seems that the audio HDMI AUTO output should do just that...output the signal received.

I'm thinking about this box solely for 3D iso playback. One thing that I'm worried is fan noise. Have you guys noticed any noise from the fan? Is it running all the time? Or it only runs when there is a HDD in the box? The HD900A form factor doesn't have a HDD cage and it doesn't appear to have a fan either.

I don't notice the fan at all from about 6-7ft away.

Nope, didn't notice anything at all but then it's not something I normally check. The fact I didn't notice it perhaps indicates it wasn't noisy

Not sure if this has been mentioned, and frankly I can't be bothered searching the thread, but the face has touch sensitive controls so if you take the player to a mates house and forget your remote control like I did you can still operate it. It does have some limitations though, there is no 'home' so you get stuck on the browser and can't go back without turning off the device.
Oh, and there's a button on the remote control that takes you direct to that chinese netflix style interface (a useless option for those that don't speak or read chinese). Unfortunately it's located right next to the stop button and I find myself constantly hitting this damn button instead of the stop button and it annoys the hell out of me

I am starting to regret buying this one.
More problems found:
1) Renamed file on HDD but back to old name once restarted
2) Moved file to another folder but back to old position after restarting
3) Files copied from USB to HDD disappeared after restarting
Still pending:
4) Files added to HDD through network disappeared after restarting

Seems the whole file system is not working properly !

Also missing very basic functions like:

1) Automatic firmware update
2) Folder password protect

It's a shame ....

On Himedia au website, a guy has made a custom .26 FW. In this FW he has added the weather to the home screen and also changed the button you are talking about to bring up IMS the premium aps. I am using this FW andmit works great. He made another FW which allows you to put your own picture and did something with the connection to the PC over LAN.

I've actually had the weather app on the home screen before, but was on either the original firmware mine came with (1.0.0.15) or the next one up that I flashed to (1.0.0.19). So I can only assume HiMedia either removed it or broke it for the current version.

Cheers, I might try that firmware

OK, so did some Blu ray 3D testing tonight, just the first few minutes

Harry Potter 7 Part I and II - played fine
IMAX Under The Sea - audio was fine, but video started stuttering
Avatar - played fine with one brief audio drop, didnt confirm if forced subs were working but others have already confirmed they are not
Toy Story 3 - aside from not playing the english playlist, noticeable stuttering and audio loss during seamless branch transition. Can someone else confirm this, I believe the first branch is in the beginning when Mr Potato busts through the top of the train and Woody jumps onto the train roof.Second happens after train fails in canyon and Buzz lifts up.

3D Blu Ray does look great , no ghosting on the few i tested

Hmm never had the weather app. Unitill olly made the custom FW. There is so much improvement that needs to be done with the GUI of this unit. I am surprised they have not released any FW updates lately

My ISO of this 3DBD starts stuttering really badly after about 13mins when the two cuttlefish are interacting. I found that it was a fault with the source as it does it on all the software based media players I tried it with on my laptop, it just REALLY slows down for a good few minutes but then after that it's fine.
I haven't tried it on my HD900B yet but I'm sure it would react the same.

Unfortunately the HD900B is the player I have (aside from my BR Player which would obviously defeat the purpose) to test playback on right now.

The seamless branch issues I would say will be more problematic since there is no way currently to do a main movie BR3D rip and join into one file

Only direct play so far. Will try BD Lite tonight, but I expect the same result since other BD Lite players I have come across struggle with seamless branch
