Target is selling the wi-fi model with lego batman 2 for $199 on black friday.

I just bought the AC3L bundle. ^_^

Right now I have MGS HD, Ragnorak Odyssey, and obviously AC3L. I'm looking to get a game based on shorter-play - thinking either:

1. Virtua Tennis
2. WipeOut 2048 (I love HD/Fury and understand this game includes all that content?)
3. Hot Shots Golf (I love every HSG)

Thoughts?

Get Hot Shots Golf, I picked it up this summer when it dropped to 19.99. I've never played a hotshots game before this one but let me tell you I was hooked.

Another recent game I got was Sound Shapes. I can't heart that one enough. It's very simple to play a quick game but the real beauty is in the audio. Wear some headphones and dive in, I guarantee enjoyment.

My most recent pickup was When Vikings Attack. For the low price it's been a gem.

Is anyone excited about the Vita version of COD? What is the buzz surrounding the multiplayer?

I might jump in on the Vita if the COD multiplayer is up to snuff. The dual thumbpads ought to give the Vita a unique edge over all the other mobile systems when it comes to online FPS.

I really love the HSG series and demo, too. Those are the two games that would push me over the edge on this device.

I had Wipeout 2048, speaking objectively its a really good game but Im not much into racers. Since you say you love Hot Shots golf I'd recommend the vita version, its very good. Lumines electronic symphony is a good 'short burst' game as well. I believe all of the games you mention above have psn demos, so you can always try before you buy. Also, those games are widely available for half price now, so if you really like both hot shots and wipeout, you can get both for the price of a new game.

The Vita COD has been getting bashed since video and pic footage was released for it a few months back. Very recently though its gotten far more positive buzz.

As for multiplayer the main thing Ive heard is it supports 8 player matches, but the maps are reduced in scope accordingly. I'd take a wait and see approach personally.

Congrats on the white Vita (jealous). Virtua Tennis is great (native resolution, 60 fps). The only problem I have with the game is how you will randomly hit the ball out for no apparent reason (I swear it's not my timing smile.gif). I know it's intentional, but it is still annoying (especially at crucial moments). Also, the few times I've played multiplayer have been very laggy.

There is a demo for Wipeout. I've read that the load times were really long, but supposedly improved with a patch. I'm not really a big fan of the series though. NFS is a great alternative. The visuals aren't as good as Wipeout, but it is an open world game.

I love Hotshots Golf too, but prefer it as a digital download. Unfortunately, PSN does not reflect current retail prices for the game, so I am just waiting for the price drop.

Of the smaller type games, I highly recommend SSD Delta, Mutant Blobs Attack and When Vikings Attack. Treasures of Montezuma Blitz and Frobishers Says are fun freebies. I am also enjoying the Plants vs Zombies table in Zen Pinball. The best PSM game is probably Super Crate Box, but it's really hard, even with the physical controls.

The game I'm actually spending the most time on right now is a PSP game. I bought Valkyrie Chronicles 2 quite a while ago, but only recently started playing it. It's a great game and the artstyle makes the lower resolution hardly noticeable.

AC3:L is pretty good (I'm giving it a 7/10 right now, but I'm not quite done yet). My main complaint with the game is the story. It's really bad... and not just compared to other Assassin's Creed games. There is no cohesion to the story and most of the time, I have no idea why I'm doing what I'm doing.

My only purchase regrets have been Pure Chess (rather play chess on iPad) and Lumines (great block puzzler, but not worth the 40 bucks I spent at launch).

Anyways, enjoy your Vita (only a week before Persona 4). I'm looking forward to the BO2: Declassified reviews tomorrow. Hopefully, Nihilistic has learned a few things since Resistance.

Also, please give your impressions of Ragnarok Odyssey, when you have time. I'm still on the fence with that one.

Mikazaru, have you played escape plan?

I've only played the demo. It has a cool artstyle and interesting puzzles, but I didn't really like the touch controls. I'm actually more interested in Dokuro, but it's a bit expensive for what it is imo. With PSAS:BR, Persona 4, R&C: Full Frontal Assault and possibly BO2: Declassified on my "to buy" list this month, I can wait for a price drop.

Yeah I liked the artstyle, I've played so many 'me-too' shooters recently that I'm appreciative of someone trying something a little different. Is the game totally touchscreen based, or does it employ buttons as well?
It's mostly touch (front and back) and SixAxis. I think you use the analog stick and shoulder buttons only to adjust the view and toggle between the 2 characters. The face buttons aren't used at all.

COD BOD multi video.I gotta say it looks good.

Sony announced their first Vita PS+ news and I think it's pretty good.

First of all, next week is system update 2.0, it includes wireless sync with PCs, browser upgrades, and an email app.

PS+ includes cloud storage, auto-updating, etc. The first list of games for subscribers is:
-Gravity Rush
-Uncharted Golden Abyss
-WipeOut 2048
-Jet Grind Radio
-Final Fantasy Tactics PSP

How does PS+ work as far as 'free' games go?

Sometimes it really does not pay to be an early adopter. Good thing I have physical copies of Uncharted and Gravity Rush so that I can trade them in. Oh well... hopefully this will sell more Vitas. BO2:Deception looks good, but $50 is too much for any portable game (no discount on PSN even).

Early adopter = you play the games early. That's what you pay for.
That COD:BO's multiplayer video looks awful nice. Definitely pushing me towards hooking this system up!!

The Liberation Bundle comes with a 4GB memory card. How much gaming content will that hold? This Plus offer has piqued my interest, though I have no idea when I'd have time to play all these games, along with my current PS3 backlog.
Not a whole hell of a lot. Gravity Rush is like 3.1 gigs, for perspective.

Oh crap, so it would pretty much be one game at a time. Can 4GB even hold Golden Abyss?

Golden Abyss is 3.2gig( see above). A 4gb card doesn't even give you 4 gigs of space to work with, it's 4gb minus the space used for the OS, system settings, etc. So after putting a game like Uncharted on there, there's really not much room left for anything else.
Thanks for the quick responses everyone. I'm a patient man and can wait out some special retailer bundles this season that hopefully throw in at least an 8GB card. (My local Fry's often throws in accessories or games with certain Vita bundles.) In the meantime, I think I first need to try a Vita out to even see if I like how it feels and controls in my hands, as I've never used a handheld game device before (other than a button-less tablet).

This will probably get me to try Playstation Plus. With the PS3, I had already purchased the games in their Instant Game offerings that I was interested in, so I wouldn't have saved any money from joining PS+. But I'm interested in both Gravity Rush and Golden Abyss, and a year-long subscription to PS+ will be cheaper than buying those two games.

Once the games are on your download list (confirm purchase), they are yours for as long as you are a PS+ subscriber. If you let your membership lapse, you won't be able to play the games anymore and they no longer appear on your download list. But you can resubscribe anytime and they are yours again. There are at least 10 PS3 games in the Instant Game Collection at any given time. I think one is added and another is removed each week (changes sometimes). I'm not sure how this will work with the Vita, since there aren't that many games to choose from (I guess SCEA will be digging deep into the PSP/PSOne catalogs).

If you're not ready to buy another Vita yet, but want this first offering of PS+ Vita games, you may want to ante up and get PS+ next week anyways (purchase and/or download the games onto your PS3).

@number1laing: Yeah, I was just expecting crappier, smaller games for PS+ Vita (eg. Little Deviants, Reality Fighters). Uncharted doesn't have much replay value anyways and as stated above, sucks up a lot of space (no buyers remorse here, honestly:D).

So a working PS3 isn't absolutely necessary to purchase and transfer games digitally to the Vita; it can be done via PC?
I don't think you can purchase Vita games on your PC.

When the PSP Go came out, Sony released an app that let you do just that (and it worked okay), but I don't think it is supported by Vita. The Content Manager app is very lightweight.
Yeah, sorry I was wrong about purchasing content via PC. Media Go allowed this for the PSP, but Content Manager Assistant doesn't seem to support this feature for the Vita.

Ok thanks for the clarification, I was wondering what happens to those games if your service elapses. Sounds like a glorified digital rental service if anything.....

As for buying another Vita, honestly I'm getting tempted by these bundle deals, especially the $199 BF ones. I'm waiting to see if someone offers the ACIII white bundle for that price. I don't have much on my personal xmas wish list, so maybe I'll spring for a bundle or ask the fam to pool together and get one.
