Thanks for the imprtessions. I have a decently sized pair of mitts, so I doubt fully reaching all the rear touch spots would be an issue for me with the grip on.

It is a very minor issue. My 14 year old daughter plays all her Vita games with it in place, she has much smaller hands than me of course. smile.gif The Vita hasn't come out of the grip since we bought it.

Just opened up my new AC Vita over the weekend. Must say the White Vita is quite sexy, as mentioned previously I'm not impressed with the game not coming in its proper case and contemplating selling it and 4gb card to put towards a 32gb card, and maybe pickup Liberation down the line when I can get it for $20, this time with its proper case( yes I'm a stickler for that).

Play Liberation!!! Especially once the patch comes out. Don't make me come over there.

So Sony decided to lower the card prices again. Hopefully it wont go back up too soon.

In other news, the YouTube app gets an update!

It's a start, but those are still 2-3 times what they should cost (says the cheap bastard who refused to upgrade his 20gb 360 drive because of MS's similarly overpriced proprietary storage).

If this is directed at me I intend to, but I'd rather sell the 4gb card and caseless Liberation card now, and pick it up later at a reduced price with the proper casing. My plan for now is to use my 3 month PS+ subscription to play all those freebies, once I'm done with those I hope to pick up Persona 4, Rayman Origins and LBP....

I agree that it should go down even more but at least it's better than not budging at all when you have complaints left and right about the prices. I just gave a suggestion to Sony saying that if they're not going to budge any more before Christmas then maybe they can offer Plus codes with the purchase of a card so it could be 1 year for the 32GB card, 6 months for the 16GB card and 3 months for the 8GB card or at the very least something like 6, 4 and 2 respectively. Even if they put an expatriation date on the codes, it would still be better than nothing.

The cards should come done in price but at least adding Plus codes will add some extra value to the cards for now while Sony decides how low they'll want to go in the future.

IMO good suggestions.

What an awesome idea. Add some real benefit to proprietary cards rather than just strong-arming consumers into them.

The PS Vita's firmware have also been updated. 2.01 is now live which supposedly fixes a cloud bug.

Does anybody here use multiple, small memory cards with their Vita ? Reason I'm asking, is because the price of the 32 and 16 gig cards are just way too high, imo. However, with so many 4 gig cards flooding the market with the various bundles, I can imagine being able to get some used 4 gig cards off Ebay for a drop in the bucket. I know that some people use multiple vita memory cards to have different regions on various cards, so they can try demos that are available in other regions and stuff like that, but other than that, it seems most people just buy the largest memory card they can afford, and then just stick with that. I have an 8 gig mem card, and it works pretty well, but I mostly play retail games, so the mem card is mostly used for demos and stuff. With Playstation Plus being so much of a no-brainer for a Vita owner, I'm wondering how it's going to work with not having a huge memory card.

I was thinking of getting a couple of 4 gig cards for super cheap, and then putting a tiny sticker or something on them, so I know which one is which, and then just having certain games downloaded to certain cards. Switching out the mem cards would be somewhat of a PITA, but it's better than nothing... I would definitely go with a 32 gig card or 16 gig card if I could find one for a decent price.

If you transport your VIta in a case that'll hold cards, it isn't bad. We had that scenario with our PSP. After a while, it became easy to get adapters to use mini SD or Micro SD cards in the PSP, so we upgraded to a large card. I'd sure like to see those adapters come out for the Vita!

I don't know, you may save a few dollars but swapping back and forth using 4gb cards sounds like a serious hassle. How do you even keep track of what games are on each card? Personally, considering I just bought a $179 amazon bundle on black friday, I'm ok with forking out a little more for the higher end cards just to have the space. I know at some point I plan on picking up a few Psone classics and psp RPGS, along with the odd Vita psn release. It would be nice if the 32gb drop to the $50-60 range, but I can't see this before next year at the earliest. Considering you've spoken very often about the 'deals' you've gotten on games, look at it as you've still come out on top even if you wind up forking out $$$ for a 32gb( amazon seems to have them regularly at $80) You could always try and track down one off craiglist used if you want to go that route....
I"d be more interested at $50, but even that is too high. About 2x too much. So make a profit and sell them for $35, but $90 is insanely expensive.
I just bit the bullet on the 32gb one. It's worth it for the convenience IMO. I'd rather spend the money than juggle cards. I'm also interested in keeping my Vita collection digital, so there's that.

I gotta say I have been playing the living heck out of the Vita since it came out, it has lots of great games. Obviously there are some games I wish it had (#1: Skate), but I've had no shortage of things to play.
Yeah, I just can't wrap my mind around paying $80 for a 32 gig card. Just can't do it (and that's the sale price!). The thing that really sucks, there was this guy on Craigslist that was selling a 32 gig card for $45, and I would have immediately contacted the guy, and got the card, but I had to take my kids to soccer practice, and just wasn't able to meet anybody till later. Of course, a couple of hours later it was sold. frown.gif

I'm waiting around for a deal like that. The most I would pay is $50 for the 32 gig one. The 16 gig one really doesn't make any sense at all, because the most I would pay is $35,and nobody is ever going to sell it for only $35, so I'm not even going to think about 16 gig cards...
I have been looking forward to DJMax Technika Tune and it just came up on PSN (via search), but it's $45 and 3.1 GB!! I guess I'll wait for a price drop (or an iOS version) -- I have enough games for now.

It's unlikely they could sell it at that price point. We look at it as simply 32GB of memory that can be had cheaply in other standardized formats, but that's precisely why those are less expensive. Anything that can be mass produced and sold like that is of course a lot cheaper. The Vita mem cards are proprietary, so they can't be mass produced. That's part of the reason why they are so expensive.

The natural question to that is, "so why didn't they use something cheaper like the Memory Stick for Vita storage?" Sony did a decent job not forcing proprietary HDMI cables and hard drives in the PS3, not to mention used USB ports for almost everything else... why the expensive option in this machine?

Enhanced security. Two major pieces of evidence exists to suggest that this is the primary reason. For one, the PSP was ravaged by piracy, in part because of Memory Stick exploits. Secondly, the PSN hack debacle that they went through on the PS3 (though to this day, there have been no published reports of personal info being compromised).

The Vita memory cards are expenive, and I wish they went with standard options as well. I plan to wait as long as I can before I get my own 32 gigger. But we can't simply ignore some of the likely reasoning that went into this choice that they made to force us to use proprietary storage, and how that affects the price compared to mass produced equivalents.
I've read that the Vita memory card is just a Memory Stick Micro (M2) in a different shell. Since the M2 format was a joint venture between Sony and Sandisk, maybe we'll get a cheaper Sandisk-branded alternative in the future. With Vita sales at their current level, I'm not holding my breath -- but one can always hope.

I dropped $1000 on a 30 MEGABYTE hd for my Amiga-500 back in the day.

These Vita cards are cheap ;-)

I paid $80 for a 64 meg card in 2002. There's no hard and fast rule with this stuff. Cards cost what they cost. Yea, SD cards are cheap, well this isn't a SD card.
The good thing is, the price is starting to go down. One more decent drop and I'll get a 32 gigger. Until then, I'll continue to play the 4GB juggle.
Luckily we bought the pack with the 8 gig card, but my daughter is complaining she can't download any of our Plus offerings because the card is full.
Amazon has the 16 gig card for $45.87 now.

http://www.amazon.com/16GB-PlayStation-Vita-Memory-Card/dp/B006JKASAC/ref=sr_tr_sr_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354772992&sr=8-1&keywords=vita+16gb

It's very tempting, but I just can't do it. Not when I could probably pay $15 more and get double the storage. I know I can get a 32 gig card on Craigslist for $60 if I'm patient. It's just very hard being patient.

By the way, I was looking at Ebay, and 4 gig cards can be had for $5 to $6 shipped. Pretty cheap, to get a couple extra cards for only 5 bucks each.
^ Amazon typically has the 16gb for around that price, and the 32gb for $80. You have to decide if saving $20 is worth the patience of waiting for a $60 card off CL that others may be interested in and possibly nab before you, with the ensuing disappointment that will follow.
I have had a Vita since launch and bought a 32GB Card with it and I have no qualms about it whatsoever. I have all these games for it:

Vita
Uncharted:GA (PS Plus downloaded to Card)
Mortal Kombat
HotShots Golf
Ninja Gaiden
LBP
MLB: The Show
Madden
Assassin's Creed:Liberation
Pinball (with all the game packs)
Gravity Rush
Metal Gear Solid:HD
Resistance
Lego Batman
Lego: LOTR
Rayman:Origins

PSP (all downloaded to card)

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta
Dante's Inferno
Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles

PS1 Classics
Alundra
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3

All of these games plus 4gb of music and I still have 15gb's left on my 32gb Card. To me the 32gb card is definitely worth the money. BTW, I love the Vita. I play it the most now (outside of my PC). I usually play it everyday while laying in bed at night. I also have a 3DS and since I got the Vita I gave the 3DS to my kids. The Vita is one Heck of a Portable unit.

The wife ended up letting me have my Christmas present early.

I tried to stick with the 4GB card, but finally broke down and bought a 16GB card. Much happier with the storage space. I also bought the adapter the Vita fits into to make it feel more like a controller. It's a 10X improvement in regards to comfort. I have large hands and found it difficult to hold it just right. A fantastic investment at $10 for adult hands.

Really impressed with the Vita. I've only played through Gravity Rush and Mutant Blobs, but I find myself playing the Vita more than the PS3. Perhaps it's the novelty of the Vita, but I think that the convenience of it plays a big part. My wife can HGTV and I can still get gaming time in. Also, PS+ is worth it's weight in gold if you also have a Vita. Very impressed with the freebies they've offered and hope they keep it up.

Sony is IMO losing a lot of possible Vita sales by not delivering on ps3 remote play. It would be a MAJOR selling point for PS3 owners if, as you said above, the wifey can be watching her shows while you're sitting there next to her running a ps3 game through Vita. Untapped potential there....

Nice to hear you're enjoying yours thus far....
I got in on the Amazon BF deal and couldn't be happier. I'm really enjoying the games much more than I expected.

Up unitl now, I had be of the opinion that gaming on a smart phone would be about as good as gaming on the Vita. Boy was I wrong!

I wasn't planning on getting a Vita, but the Amazon deal was too tempting to pass up.

Hopefully Sony will see the positive response and make some permanent price adjustments.

I'd really like to see this system survive.

I think they should consider making two new bundles:

one with the 4gb card, a budget game and 1 month of PS+ for $179 - $199

and the other with a 16 or 32gb card, premium game and 3 months of PS+ for $229 - $249.

That and offer it in more colors. I honestly think if they did that they'd see sales take off.

That would also probably result in a lot more PS+ subscribers.
