I saw on Playstation's twitter feed how their maintenance window was going to be longer than expected - lasting well into the next morning (instead of 12 hours more like 24 hours). The free PS Mobile game is supposed to be available all week until the next freebie Wednesday.

Finally played Gravity Rush.

Quit cool looking, but as for gameplay... uhhh.... is there any ?

At least it was free on PS+.
Gravity Rush has very interesting and unique gameplay. Not sure what you're saying.

The skill of it all really comes in after beating the game and going for challenges.
Gravity Rush was the first game that I played on my Vita and it was worth full price to me. Some parts were a little too easy but overall it was definitely a system seller in the end.

Sound Shapes is another great Vita title. While it's a cross-buy title that can be played on the PS3, I think it works a lot better on the Vita. Got my double plat from it this weekend.

As some of you know, 2.05 of the firmware has been released.

When using the browser, on some sites including AVS Forum, the page would annoyingly refresh on it's own which has given me and other users a very big headache. The good news is that if you have shut off Java, the refreshing would stop. For many sites, disabling Java isn't much of an issue except for a few sites that really needs it like IGN in which you have to enable it or you wont see the comments underneath the articles. With all that said, after updating to 2.05, the issues I've been having with Java enabled seams to have been fixed. I still hope I'm not speaking too soon though and it stats happening again after I post this comment but so far so good. That would really stink if it does.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is free for PS+ Vita owners tomorrow.

not too bad. I wish they would give us some PS1 games on Vita, that would be cool...
I nearly had a heart attack when I read Ninja Gaiden Sigma on the blog since that's one of the games that I've been wanting Plus to get.

Cubixx is the FREE PS Mobile game this week.

Sent from my PS Vita System.
That's two out of the three free PS Mobile games that I had previously bought, if you count the Minis version of Cubixxx. It's a pretty fun game, too.

Anyone played Let's Fish! Hooked On yet?

New KZ and Tearaway trailers.

I'm concerned about R&C: FFA. It was supposed to be released this month, but no word, no footage... nothing. I bought the PS3 version mainly for the Vita cross-buy (haven't even opened it yet). I've never even heard of the company (Tin Giant) responsible for the game.

Here's some gameplay footage of Tearaway:

and of Killzone Mercenary:

Looking forward to that Killzone action. I love the new drone weapon shooting the electric charges. Thanks for the vids.
Dang - that Killzone looks really tight. I hope multiplayer really comes through since that's really what I'm looking for here. I was really let down by the Vita COD offering.

I hope it's more like KZ2. I was really let down by KZ3.
Ditto. I played KZ2 online quite a bit. It was fun, but the spawn beacon spamming right on top of the objectives (for both teams) made it preposterous at times.

And it wasn't like you could think your way around it since all roads led to the objective, and right into the cluster eff.

The maps were fun. The gameplay was nice too, but the aiming always felt a tad disconnected and laggy to me.

Watching this video makes me sick knowing that HDMI capable PS Vita's aren't for the general public. I mean it's nice that it's now capable of playing back 1080p videos it would be even nicer, if you were actually able to see that resolution since the screen is 544p. Saving features for future models can really go too far sometimes.

Concerning KillZone, it's amazing how much time and money is being put into it compared to Resistance and Call of Duty. Perhaps the general reaction of those 2 games are just one of the reasons it's getting released in September rather than say March or April. Sort of the same thing happening to Soul Sacrifice. Rather than already releasing the game, they decided to spend extra time on it although Keiji Inafun is serious about wanting to make sure the game is fully finished unlike some games that are forced to be finished by a certain deadline. Too bad we can't get the Demo yet since it's been out in Japan for a while now. As for Tearaway, we'll see if Sony will be able to market that correctly to kids meaning to make kids know that the game actually exists.

And then theirs the February 20 event that is most likely the PS4 reveal. Hopefully that's when Sony also announces a well needed price cut for the PS Vita and the memory cards. What they probably will do is show off how great the PS4 gets along with the PS Vita like when it comes to remote play. Perhaps that's one of the reasons why Sony decided to limit it on the PS3 since this would be one of many reasons to upgrade to the PS4 although it's true that the PS4's hardware would probably be more capable for that feature. For example, it might probably be able to stream a much higher quality video than the PS3 could. Another possibility would be to stream games and videos from the PS Vita to the PS4 if possible. As we know, it's rumored that we'll be able to record in game PS4 footage so this would be one way to record from a PS Vita.

If you have time before Kickoff download the Sly Cooper Demo. Looks like it's going to be a fun AAA platformer. I hope all those days of just sitting around in it's case isn't going to wear out the battery. How many years is the battery supposed to last anyway?

Even on the new firmware my PS Vita is having some issues with slow page loads and even worse a page that will refresh endlessly. Thanks to your tip about javascript, (it's not Java, it's javascript - 2 different things) I went to the browser settings and shut off javascript. Immediate fix! Now all web pages load very fast and that auto-refreshing page loads immediately too. I am seeing the downfall with comments not showing up at the bottom of the page anymore.
Lest just say I spoke too soon although it does seam a little better. What I'll also suggest is that when your browsing, to close all other applications such as games, Twitter, etc. I had everything else closed when I wrote that post and I did hear online that it works even better if nothing else is open. Not having too many web pages open might also help.
With all that said, I would love to see eighter a Firefox or Chrome browser.

What's the general consensus on this handheld now that its been out awhile? Is it worth buying? Is there steady game development for it?

My only impressions of this system were from launch when some gaming editors expressed dismay regarding the price and the outrageous cost of memory cards for it. What has changed to this point? I have a itch to scratch ....
Two things: determine if it has games you want to play, and then decide at what price you are willing to pay.

For me I waited for a good Christmas Vita sale since I liked a few of the games I knew I would like. The original Uncharted adventure and a Hot Shots Golf sequel were my main draws, and I have been pleasantly surprised by games like Surge, which is the perfect handheld touch game for the system.

As for the memory cards, yeah they cost a grip. I wanted a max 32 GB card but refused to pay the high price, sticking with the free 4GB promo card mine came with. When a super sale came along that I was fine with, I bit.

The Vita has a BEAUTIFUL large screen and the best DPad ever made. The battery keeps a decent charge, and the image quality can approach PS3 quality.

The left analog stick is too close to the pad for my hands though; I sometimes accidentally hit it when pressing down on the DPad, which is only a problem in a shoot 'em up that lets you use either one to move. I also am not a fan of all the mini achievement notices some games keep track of, but you only see them when you load a game up.

All in all, I am happy with my purchase. You have to decide if and when it is worth it for you.

I was very skeptical about it at first. I'd put it in my cart at Amazon then move it to "Save for Later." Did this for weeks. I finally jumped on it when Amazon had the huge sale. I've never been happier.

First, it obviously blows the PSP out of the water. It's amazing. It truly feels like I'm playing the PS3 on a handheld. For background, I've played Gravity Rush, Sound Shapes, All Star Battle, Mutant Blob, AC:L, P4G, WIpeout, and Uncharted. Uncharted was the only title I didn't like. The games I've played (with the exception of UC) are top notch. Graphics and audio are outstanding. Most make good use of the Vita's features. I'd also picked up a grip to use, but that's been gathering dust as I've become more comfortable holding it naked.

I've got a wife, a 3 year old, and a 5 month old. It's perfect for this setup. The great thing about the Vita is you can hit the power button at any point in a game and it just acts like the pause button, but you can keep it paused indefinitely. Perfect for when you only have a few minutes to game at a time. It's also perfect for the times when my wife wants to watch HGTV or some other show I have little interest in. She can cuddle up and watch her program and I can beat up little nasties in whatever game I'm playing. It just works.

I've logged in over 200 hours on this thing and know I'll easily put another 200 on it.

3rd party developer support has been lacking due to lackluster sales, but there are worthwhile games on the system. I think the best thing to do is look at its current lineup and determine if anything is out NOW that interests you. In other words, buy it for what it is, not for what it could or might be down the line. Sony hasn't really done much with it as they don't have the financial flexibility to really market the thing, drop price, or pay for any third-party exclusives. So, it's just kind of drifting at the moment. I have a hunch it's going to factor into the PS4 somehow, so maybe at that point the price will drop and they'll have an opportunity to relaunch the system.

For me personally, I bought the White Assassin's Creed Liberation bundle for $179 on Black Friday, which came with a bunch of throw-ins( 3 month PS+ subscription, $10 coupon towards ACII 360/PS3, code for Playstation All-stars) along with the AC Liberation game and a 4GB card( paltry amount of storage, I need to buy a 32GB as soon as a good deal presents itself). For that price the Vita has been more than worth it. Frankly the so called 'lack of games' works well for me anyways as I have plenty of other games for about 8 different systems and a backlog that I have no chance in hell of clearing.

FYI to all Vita/ PSP owners, not sure if its been mentioned elsewhere but all the Squaresoft/Final Fantasy games on PSN are 50% off starting today.

Even Namco Bandai games are 50% off. For example Tekken 6 and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny for the PSP is $20 now rather than $40. Still a little steep but at least much better.
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/02/04/select-namco-bandai-games-50-off-starting-tomorrow/

And then theirs the PlayStation Home Arcade app for the PS Vita but theirs seams to be other plans as well so perhaps they might be thinking of a PS Vita version of Home in the future.

I bought it for Street Fighter x Tekken and Assassin's Creed, so I had a slow first few months, but recently I got Persona 4 Golden and Playstation Plus and P4G is so long and great that I haven't even touched all of the crazy plus games. I'm super happy with the system and my backlog, not to mention some of the games that are coming out this year. I'm super disappointed that Vita is getting snubbed by the Resident Evil and Castlevania people, but there's plenty of content available. Persona 4 Golden may end up being my most played single player game ever at over 100 hours now. I was against the whole PSP/PS1 game thing on it because I wanted to play new games, but I'm enjoying a few of them now (including Persona 3.) Highly recommended purchase.
Highly recommend P4G. I've logged 80 hours on it. It would be a lot more if it weren't for Ni No Kuni vying for my time.
