I'm so unfamiliar w/ all these Japanese titles. I suppose if I gave them a shot I might get pulled in, but on the face of it they just don't call to me. I see P4G is made by Atlus; too bad they don't put a Demon's Souls on the Vita or something like that.
They're great. I'm by no means a JRPG expert- I missed the early generation of these games, but I love them. I lived in Asia for several years, so these games always remind me of that time of my life.

P4G is more the underage girls in catholic school skirts (moderately inappropriate at times, but not often) and Ni No Kuni is the polar opposite- a heart warming tale that is family friendly. Something you could definitely play with young children.

It won't be Demon's Souls, but Soul Sacrifice for the Vita is coming out on April 30th:

Killzone Mercenary is a fully featured first person shooter for the PSVita that features beautiful graphics, fantastic animations, good sound design and a very solid multiplayer component.Guerrilla Games has managed to nearly get a 1:1 of their PS3 KZ2/KZ3 engine on the Vita and the results are amazing to say the least from a technical perspective.I will purchase a Vita alongside the release of KZ Mercenary when it comes out on September 13th.I highly suggest you guys checkout the very nice article on this goregous looking Vita title.

With the new rumor of KillZone 4 being a launch title for the PS4, it almost indicates that their could be some compatibility with the PS Vita version. One thing Sony can do to advertise the PS Vita more is being able to unlock extra side missions on the PS4 version. For example, you'd have to use a PS Vita as a cross controller to play those side missions. And then theirs remote play that could used throughout the whole regular game. They did show off KillZone 3 being compatible with the PS Vita but Sony might have made a decision to do that to the PS4 version.

Free PS mobile game number 4 ends today, only 2 left as part of this promo. Get "Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender" while you still can.

Guys, I'm just wondering if it's just my VITA (I had previous ones and they seemed brighter and showed more details in dark areas):

Is this the horrible black clipping/crush on OLEDs? Or something else?

(4S, PSP 3000, VITA = max brightness on the VITA <-- and it's still very dim)
(this was taken in a very very dark environment so it's much worse in typical lighting)

Basically, umbra and penumbra are indistinguishable.. and there's so much details lost in dark areas.

Is it just my VITA? Are there any good test patterns for the system?

Are your findings based only on PSP games in the Vita's PSP emulator? If so I'd be more suspect of the Vita's PSP emulation settings. There's a "color space" setting for PSP emulation, what happens if you flip it?

How about these images for comparisons?

Persona 4 doesn't exist on PSP. I suspect he was showing screenshots taken with the Vita in those later pics.

Just curious what vita game these screenshots were taken from. Looks like a cool game. Looking for something fun to play once I finish Sly Cooper.

1st was Silent Hill Book of Memories, 2nd is Persona 4 Golden.

SH was generally a let down and P4G is the highest rated VITA game.. I would recommend watching several reviews of each first before buying though.

I guess it really is black crushing:

http://www.lensoftruth.com/head2head-dishonored-screenshot-comparison/

<-- That's how it really seems.

Just went to a gamestop store today and noticed that the store's VITA is about 15% brighter, shown better details in the dark but has a fugly yellow tint.

I've been with 5 VITAs now.. 2 had nice whites.. but those 2 have worse max brightness.. the rest have yellow and green tints.

Your post was very timely with the release of this article:

Thanks so much! Even the comments have given me confidence that OLED sucks! (as of now).

Check your VITA's vertical color shift.. it's not that bad but it's obvious.

What's left with the OLED? power efficiency? That's it? It losses on every other standard xD

But I guess power efficiency was very much needed with the VITA.

It's very funny how the other guy said "It's the same reason why more people prefer McDonalds over more refined culinary experiences." <-- He was very mean with his last statement tho.

Here's another proof of the VITA somewhat crushing blacks:

PS Vita Heaven:
http://www.jp.playstation.com/cp/2013spring_psvita/
OK, I'm not sure if it's called that at all but what the heck.

So I guess Sony has so much to show on the 20th that they couldn't fit everything and thought that it would be wise to have a show mostly for the PS Vita. Doesn't mean they wont talk about the PS Vita on the 20th since I think they'll probably try going over compatibility between the PS Vita and PS4. If in fact, Sony decides to lower the price of the units and/or memory cards, they might save that news for the 20th as well.

If only it wasn't in 6 hours but it's in Japan after all.

So Japan is getting a well needed price cut. I guess this means Sony will soon announce a price cut on PS Vita units in the US. Better late than never I guess. Hopefully the card prices gets a drop as well.

Beats Trellis is the free PS Mobile game/app through tomorrow.
Confirmed - no Vita price cut coming to the U.S.:

Quote:
"No, it's not," Sony Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida told Joystiq, when asked if the Vita will see a price cut like the one just announced in Japan. Yoshida cited the exchange rate as a reason for the lack of price drop – an issue that has plagued Nintendo in recent earnings releases.
I wonder if Sony will be refreshing the Vita when the Ps4 comes out.
Imagine if they plan on cutting the price from mid to the end of March, if they were to tell people that now, they'd be less people getting PS Vita's until that date. Sony can't keep on continuing to make sure the PS Vita sells as little as possible in the US for example. Never-mind consumers, I'm sure they are being pressured by third party publishers as well to lower the prices. If not unit prices, they should slash the card prices at the very least. It's not like it's a total loose situation for Sony if they lower the card prices. They will end up selling far more cards, have far more PSN sales and more people buying PS VIta's. Heck, even including Plus or PSN credit/cash should be considered if they want to keep on delaying price drops.

This is definitely a nice bundle that Japan has.

Very excited about the news we heard in Sony's press conference this week. They almost seemed to indicate that EVERY game will have remote play. I find that hard to believe, but I'm hopeful. In any event, it sounds as if they're committed to making Vita work with the PS4 much more than it currently does with the PS3.

Another comment on the Vita- I'm a voracious gamer. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm also a bit of a trophy whore. I don't require much sleep and game from the moment my wife and kids head to bed to when I finally do (~1AM). All this to say that I play a lot of games on the PS3 (I don't own an XBox, Wii, or gaming PC). Lately (over the past 3 months), I seem to devote nearly 80% of my gaming time to the Vita. This has surprised me. I figured I'd boot it up on the off chance my wife stayed up late to watch one more episode of House Hunters or something else in which I have very little interest. Not so. I actually checked yesterday and realized I had a backlog of 10 PS3 games still in the shrink wrap.

To make a long story short- the Vita has far exceeded my expectations. It's not PSP 2.0. It's something much, much better that takes up more of my time than my PS3 does.

.

The problem i have is that they made the SAME claims with the PS3 and the PSP. -- there are how many remote play games 30? hoping for the this but -- not holing my breath.

The problem there has always been video encoding and decoding. Both are incredibly processor intensive and neither the PS3 or PSP were initially designed to handle that. PS4 and Vita has dedicated encoder and decoder respectively. Both have wifi N, bandwidth isn't the problem. The real issue is that the vita has 4 less buttons, they'll have to figure ways around that on a game by game basis. That's why it's just an ambition and not a guarantee.
Yes, the controls is actually the biggest thing Sony is worried about since they want most games to be properly mapped before it gets sold. For sure it'll be a little bit more work for these developers but on the other hand, it'll sort of get developers used to working with the PS Vita so it wouldn't be surprising if some would decide to make a PS Vita game because of that. It's true that the PS4's hardware will be far better at remote play not only because it's far newer but because they bought a company who have a ton of knowledge in that area. With that said, Sony might have also made a strategic decision to not spent too much time trying to make more PS3 games compatible even if the game doesn't take up much resources at all such as a lot of PSN games. I mean they do want people to buy the PS4 after-all and at the same time, they know people are very much enjoying being able to play their Wii U games lying down in bed or in the bathroom getting rid of the food they just ate if you know what I mean. Theirs also Nvidiia Shield which will allow you to do that to a lot of computer games if you have one of the newer Nvidia cards. More reason why Sony will try to make sure that it works this time on their new console. I really hope it does. I'm already imagining myself playing the new Infamous game on my PS VIta.

Hopefully Sony will be treating the PS VIta better at this event then the last one. We'll see. I still give Sony a lot of credit for trying to be bold with making sure remote works this time with most games. This is one of a few reasons why I might decide to get the PS4 day 1.

Is anyone else using their Vita with Sennheiser bluetooth headphones? I have the MM 450 Flight. Every time I turn them on, they show up in the bluetooth menu but the audio does not play through them. I need to delete them and re-pair them to get them to play sound. This is very annoying.

Sony may have made a conscientious decision to not spend any more time and resources getting ps3 games to run on Vita. Its a good bulletpoint on the list of features for both Ps4/Vita, particularly as a counter to Wii U's off-TV play, to have those two devices running off each other. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see an 'ultimate playstation package' of sorts with Ps4, Vita and a ps+ subscription bundled together at some point.

I just subscribed to Ps+ and got the extra 3 months, reminder to anyone thinking about a subscription that the 3 extra months promotion ends tomorrow the 4th.

AT&T are selling 32GB and 16GB cards for $50 and $30 respectively.

16GB

32GB
http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/accessories/specialty-items/sku6170247.html#fbid=QkxoCYbchha

I got this info from a posting of NeoGaf. That's the lowest yet and Sony quickly sold out when then had the $32GB for around $60. I suspect the same thing to happen here. If only that was an official price drop.
I just ordered two of the 32 giggers. Hoping they actually honor this deal.
