Super Crate Box is $1.99 on iOS right now -- NOT 99 cents. I guess you could ask -- why is it free on the PC and $1.99 on the App Store? I can't even find Super Crate Box on Google Play anymore (maybe they are forcing you to buy the PSM version). If the games don't sell at these prices, I'm sure the developers will act accordingly. Vita owners are hard core gamers -- most recognize that it can be an expensive hobby, but I can't see these prices going over well with Android users.

I used to think it was odd that the average iOS/Android user has no problems spending hundreds of dollars on hardware and monthly data plans, but balks at spending 5 bucks for a game. However, after buying all the highly regarded games, I can see why now -- the games aren't worth playing unless you're super-bored and offline.

I promised myself not to buy anymore iOS games, but I just recently bought Rayman Jungle Run for $2.99 because it received rave reviews. I played it for about 10 minutes and I will probably never touch it again -- it's basically Temple Run/Jetpack Joyride with Rayman. It's great that developers are creating games with simple controls for touch screen-only devices, but the gameplay just isn't for me.

Edit: Apparently Super Crate Box was never on Android until PSM.

Vita isn't going anywhere sales-wise. Sony's made that abundantly clear. Right now, they're just using it as a test bed for future initiatives (day-1 digital and PS Mobile) and hoping that sales are simply "good enough" to keep the platform alive.

I'm not yet convinced that Android users spend much on mobile games. Most of the mobile gaming money is going into iOS (for a number of reasons). As long as Sony can get Android exclusives on PS Mobile, they'll do just fine.

I was surprised by the positive feedback on this one too. There are much better endless runner games on iOS. Sure, this one is pretty and sounds nice, but the core game is pretty hollow. Check out Run Roo Run. By far the best endless runner on the market.

Sorry for OT, but you guys are on crack... Rayman Jungle Run is brilliant - one of the best games of the year of any platform.

Sorry, but it had to be said. tongue.gif

I'm too OCD when it comes to games like this, so for me, I get too obsessed with getting every single lum in every single level. Drives me a little nuts. I finished the first two areas completely. Taking a breather before moving on to the second two. I think I'm enjoying this more because it lets me relive the truly brilliant Rayman Origins (one of the best games of the past year), not so much for what Jungle Run does on its own.

Not saying it's not a fun or good iOS game, just not a great one. biggrin.gif

Just a heads up for Vita owners. Madden 13 recently got a patch that supposedly improves the game quite a bit. Takes away a good bit of the choppiness. At least, this is what i've heard. Also, if you go to Ebay you can get Madden for the Vita for about 18 shipped. Just do a search on Buy it Now auctions, and look for the lowest price with shipping, I've seen some auctions at $17 shipped. If you see them more than $18 or $17 shipped, wait a day or so and look again. Also, if you want to bid on the regular auction ones, you can sometimes get Madden as cheap as $15.75 shipped. Not too bad for a brand new game.

I got it on release day, but only got around to trying out the first level last night. Simply put, it's 100% LBP on Vita. In other words, so far it seems like a quality game.

The first level has platforms that can be moved via touchscreen, and stickers made using the Vita's camera. I have a feeling that new levels will introduce new game mechanics using Vita's features, like back-panel touch, tilt, and whatnot.

From what I've read some people are claiming it's superior to the home console versions. I've never played the series before so can't say one way or another. The other thing I've heard is that the single player is really short, but being that the game is more about creating your own levels and playing other user-created games, it's not really an issue.

How are the visuals? Do they pop on the Vita screen?

No complaints on the visuals - cut-scene quality. From what I've seen the color palate is restrained, so the brightness doesn't really pop, but it still looks good. There's some really tiny text in places which shows off the resolution of the Vita's screen.

Too bad there's not a demo.

I see, well I sold my Vita about a month ago( basically recovered 100% of my money;long story), but now that they've finally figured out the PS1 classics issue, I'm tempted to pick the Assassin's Creed bundle along with LBP,Ragnarok Odyssey And Persona 4. I'm itching to play the Vita ACIII and this LBP Vita for some reason. And that white Vita is sexy cool.gif
post #971 of 1393
There is a demo for LBP Vita. My daughter downloaded it and played it before we committed to buying it. She loved LBP and LBP2 on the PS3, but got tired of them once she started playing the Assassin's Creed series. She tried the PSP version of LBP, but hated it. Anyway, she tried the Vita demo and loved it. She must have logged 4 hours on it over the weekend, and I have to say she's PICKY. She said it's very good. I haven't touched it yet, so I can't give my opinion.

We bought the physical copy so we can sell it if she gets tired of it, and we found that the progress you make in the demo is not saved when you get the physical copy, so keep that in mind. We might have been able to save it off and copy it back somehow, but it was too late to do that once we realized it wasn't saved.

LPB is nice looking, but unfortunately is sub-native resolution and can't hold a candle to Rayman Origins visually. Of course, there is a lot more to LBP though. I complained earlier that LBP doesn't have ad hoc multiplayer, but Rayman doesn't have any multiplayer.

I just bought a Madden 13 for Vita for $10.13 via Ebay. that includes shipping. It was just the game card by itself, no case, but 10 freaking bucks ? I'll take that, that you very much! Tons of Maddens on Ebay right now. I've seen them go for $14 and $15, but this is the first time I've seen one go for only 10 bucks shipped. Hopefully I actually get the thing, lol..

I just bought the Madden Bundle for my nephew. He is young and has no interest in sports games, so I traded him Little Deviants for it. The game did not come in a case, so that is what you likely have too. Madden is supposed to be a lot better post-patch, but I haven't tried it yet.
Anyone here picking up Ragnorak, Persona 4 Golden, ACIII Liberation at the end of the month? Persona 4 is a port but Ragnorak Odyssey is a vita exclusive, correct?
I'm picking up ACIII and will wait for a sale on Persona.

Yeah, the one that I got is from the bundle. Those are the ones that are flooding Ebay. You know, I just thought of something.... Does Madden 13 require an online pass ? I wonder if that code has already been used ? Did your nephew's bundle include some type of online pass for that Madden game ? I need to buy another one of these Maddens so my son and I can play head to head. Hopefully it supports ad-hoc, so we can play each other while camping or riding in the car... (Fifa Soccer doesn't support Ad Hoc, which really sucks)
No, there was no online pass with the game. I don't really like football games, so I'll probably just try it out and then trade it in. The only sports game I'm interested in is NHL 13, but it doesn't look like the series will be making its way to Vita this year.

I'll definitely be picking up Persona 4 and ACIII: Liberation at the end of the month. I'm undecided about Raganarok though and will wait for western reviews (hopefully there's a demo). I may get NFS: Most Wanted instead.

I have Madden for the Vita and love it. I am in week 8 of my franchise. I bought the game the day it came out and there was no online pass. You got a steal for $10! Great find.

Didn't the game kinda suck before it got that recent patch? I only played the demo, but it seemed extremely choppy and hitchy. At least during all the replays, and everything in-between the game on the field. My only real problem with the game on the field is the way players would skate along the surface of the field, like their feet are 5 inches above the ground. The other thing that bothers me, is that it doesn't seem like you can get your team to quickly hike the ball. It's like there is an input delay...

I'm not sure what was fixed with the patch, so have to wait to get the thing in the mail...

So Playstation Mobile won't be updated even weekly? Disappointing.

Now trophies earned on the Vita will appear on the PS3's trophy list:

Seems to be some issues with Street Fighter x Tekken. It seems that the code included with it (does it even come with the code for the PSN version?) is not unlocking the 12 DLC characters for the PS3 version. Also Capcom promised all of the original cast alternate costumes would be unlocked "out of the box" but they are nowhere to be found (they are officially coming out next week so we'll see how that works.) The game seems to have a red tint on flesh tones that I haven't seen anyone mention yet. The good news is that if you go to the PS3 store and go to new releases and discounts, Capcom accidentally has the Swap pack (not the alternate pack) up there for free, but I haven't confirmed that it is still there because I do not have a PS3.

EDIT: Confirmed by my friend that it is still up. Get it while it's hot!

Anyone picked up Ragnorak Odyssey and/or AC III liberation yet? Any thoughts on either?
I just picked up the AC: L Bundle as a Christmas gift for my other nephew (Best Buy Canada is throwing in a $50 gift card). I was going to get the digital version of AC: L for myself, but the reviews so far are a mixed bag. It might be a better idea to just wait and borrow the physical game from my nephew, after he's done playing it in the new year. I want to spend $100 on PSN in October to get back $20, but I'm really not sure what to go with (Smart As is actually getting very good reviews). I think I will wait on all the reviews for Ragnarok, NFS: MW and AC: L, before making my picks tomorrow.

On a side note... man, that white Vita is tempting!!
Liberation has a 75 on Metacritic, which is way above mixed: http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-vita/assassins-creed-iii-liberation

I am surprised at how close it looks to the console games, but I have only played the tutorial.

Read the Kotaku review and then try not to buy it.
After reading the IGN review, it makes me want to skip it. Certainly, with the Vita having such a small amount of interesting offerings, it will be a good idea to grab that game at some point but I'll have to get it for a 20 spot.

Pretty disappointing to see the two big exclusive games for this month, Raynorak and ACIII Liberation, get mixed reviews. In fact the former has been getting trashed in many articles for being dull and repetitive. ACIII sounds like it's worth playing if you're a fan, but like Anthony said it's not a $40 purchase.
