I'm completely new to Sirius/XM but want to install it in my car for an upcoming cross-country trip.
One shop recommended installing the KENWOOD KDCX395 for Sirius - another shop the Alpine CDE 124SXM for XM. The XM option would be $100 less out the door, both shops are very highly rated.
The XM unit is supposedly a newer technology w/ an XM tuner (or something - sorry, I'm an idiot) - and both say installation is far better than portable (makes sense.) Any opinions on those units, or a choice that might be better?
I was set to go w/ the XM but I'm a big NPR freak and Sirius offers NPR Talk which XM doesn't, even on the Premier plan. I'm thinking it's probably silly to make a choice based on one station, when line-ups probably change a lot on both.
I saw a plan to pick one's own stations for a reduced rate, but that seems not available on installed units?
Thanks for any input. I know newbie questions can be annoying!
