There is a story in the paper today about the stations transition. It says the channel 2 will go on the air next week. The story should be on the web site it was in the business section.

Are they going to broadcast HD or just SD? The last time I talked to the engineer at WKRN, he said SD at first and then maybe HD. I hope it's HD.

Nobody but WTVF is currently digital. I enjoy getting 5-2 their cable only channel since I punted Comcast quite some time ago.

Don't I recall that ABC doesn't do 1080i, only 720p? And then, only about an hour a day?

It's not you still no respect from any other local as of yet . It's just pathetic if you ask me. Hell in the top 40 markets we are the worst as of today.Hell memphis has 4 or 5 . JUST PATHETIC !!!!!!!

I agree! When you see all the other cities that cranked up on May 1 its really frustrating.

I just tried to call, but got voicemail, I'll try again later.

I hope WKRN starts soon. It says in that article that "WKRN is looking into the possibility of broadcasting a Tennessee Titans pre-season game in HD this fall."

According to Steve Bass, GM of WDCN which shares a transmitter building and tower space with WKRN, Channel 2's digital side has been testing for a couple of days. Anyone seen them?
I haven't seen a peep out of them yet. I tried to call again today, but got voicemail again. I emailed yesterday, but I have not received a response.

are they going to be on channel 27? I'll check when I get home tonight.
Does that mean that WDCN will go on the air the same time that WKRN does? I tried channel 27 to see if WKRN would work and I was not getting anything. So I guess they have not started their digital station yet.
I've tried to reach David Parker at WKRN for the past two days without luck. I hope that means that they are working hard on getting their digital signal on the air ASAP.

WDCN won't be on the air until 2003 at the earliest.

I have been checking 27 and have not seen as signal either.

9pm and still nothing. Our locals suck except cbs. Their lame excuses just don't cut it.

Adam...WDCN will not beat their 2003 deadline by much if at all. They've got money problems funding the new xmitr and antenna.
