"Once Upon a Time" on ABC HD - Page 31

As long as Jar Jar doesn't show up. God forbid.

We (family) are still enjoying the series, but as already mentioned I hope it doesn't get too far away from it's first season roots.

It's starting to remind me of Jasper Fforde "Thursday Next" situations, although without (yet) the self-awareness (that they are characters from books).

How long ago does the book have to be written for the character to come to life? Does it have to be a book first or can it be a book based on a movie? Why do all the fairy tale creations live in one land? Are the lands arranged by genre? Is there Horropolis? Teendetectivenation? Youngadultromantica? Classica? Mytholopolis?

Well, it's starting to remind me of Heinlein's multiverse (what he called World as Myth). So, assuming we use the calculation from The Number of the Beast, the writers can pick from 10,314,424,798,490,535,546,171,949,056 universes. Definitely watch out for the Lovecraftian ones.

Can we get the Muppets to show up?

It's almost getting to the point of the ridiculous, IMO .. I still like the show, but I don't think adding more and more characters is doing anything but confusing the plot .. if it were not for Mr Gold / Rumple I think my attention would start to drift at this point ..

Maybe Conan, King Arthur is next ..

I guess I'm in the minority because I like the idea of other characters from different literature in the show. They explained it good enough for me with the Mad Matters hat.
I'll take Dr Frankenstein and King Arthur over Jiminy Cricket and Mulan any day. Plus I enjoyed this episode more then the others this season.

I think if they were kicking off a brand new show, the characters would be fine .. but it, to me anyway, seems to be drifting just a little to far .. I also think there gets to be too many Wesen in "Grimm" .. wink.gif

That's my issue. As long as they establish some basic rules, I can live with it - but if not, the plot can get way too muddy.

Let's hope Waldo isn't coming to Storybrook.

The writers of this show watched too much Lost I think. We've got the flash-backs to their pasts, the flash-sideways to the fairyland / enchanted forest the people stuck on the "island" (Storybrooke). The parallels between the shows seem to keep going and going.

The writers of the show wrote episodes of Lost.

So, since Henry and Aurora seem to be having the same nightmare/dream, my gut is telling me that this will eventually be a way for Emma and Snow (in fairytale land) to "talk" to Charming (in the real world) - a kind of "neural portal" between worlds.

CGI was horrible in this week episode, not that it has ever been great but it just stood out worse then normal IMO. Do they even try to blend the live action stuff into the virtual sets?

This season is struggling to keep my interest, not has fun as the first season IMO.

As much as I hate to admit it, I tend to agree. They are throwing so many characters and sub-plots in every week trying to beef up the various characters' back stories that it's geting difficult to follow it all. Reinserting Pinocchio in a flash back of Emma's life? I suppose it could work but the problem for me is that a lot of these revisiting of history sequences seem to be separate and apart from the characters' stories in Season 1. Also the color palette in the land that Emma and Snow were trapped in was pretty awful, director and DP's creative visions notwithstanding.

I know somebody who works for one of the FX companies on this show. The time crunch they are under is amazing. As of last Monday they had not yet turned in all the shots for last night's episode.

Wasn't it the also the same guy that played the "student of everything Alcatraz" in the short lived series, Alkatraz?

I knew he was coming up so that wasn't a surprise.

What is a surprise is that people in this thread are surprised with the Lost connections, when the creators of Once were producers and writers on Lost and have said many times how they like dropping in references from Lost just for fun. Many of which get noted in this thread.

They gotta get Dracula in first. It's either him or the count from Sesame Street.

Technically speaking... Red/Ruby IS a werewolf...

But I know where you were going. They are blurring the line not just between Disney fairytales and generic fairytales... to now apparently include non-fairytale fictional characters. While I don't expect anything and everything to show up... it is all but impossible to say where that line would be drawn.

That was my thought... eventually one of them will start being able to better describe the other person they are seeing and someone will recognize that other person and realize what is going on... I would assume that until that happens, we will be bouncing the story back and forth between the lands.

Geez. Who put a burr underneath your saddle? It was just a little humor.

I think it makes sense that Pinocchio was in the flash back. They were in flashbacks together as kids last season. It kind of explains some questions from last season.
Pinocchio/August probably setup the adoption of Emma's baby to Regina(guessing here).
I'm still thinking that Emma's boyfriend/Henry's father might be Mr Golds son.

What was in Pinocchio/August's magic box? I'm assuming the same thing that was in the briefcase in Pulp fiction.

With CGI this bad, they should of just went ALL CGI for the giant. Not a fan of this episode, not enough happening and no Mr. Gold!!!
