"Once Upon a Time" on ABC HD - Page 33

In the flashbacks to fairytale land... I kind of got the impression that the old Dark One was more powerful than Rumple... perhaps Rumple is held back by not going full-on evil. Yeah, he tried to be evil... and yet, even his most evil stuff in fairytale land was to accomplish a goal... usually related to trying to do something positive for his son.

Regina comes the closest to full-on evil since she killed her father to launch the curse... that's pretty evil right there... which may be why she was a threat to Rumple... and if Cora is more full-on evil that would be a good explanation.

There's misguided bad, really bad, sorta evil, evil, and don't even think about messing with full-on evil...

Or at least I think that's where they are going for the most part.

Funny to kind of feel sorry for Regina.

As far as I can remember and someone can correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't Regina get her magical powers from Rumple? I don't believe they explained how her mother had been imbued with magic, but if Regina got her powers from the Dark One then wouldn't it stand to reason that her mother also got powers the same way? Because the magic all looks so similar ... vanishing in purple smoke, just like Rumple.

So to my mind, Rumple should be the most powerful if he gave them their abilities, assuming that is the case. Memory isn't the best, but I seem to recall Regina "getting back" at her mother in one of her backstories with help from Rumple.

I thought Rumple was really just helping Regina let the evil inside consume her and take over, in turn making her more powerful. I thought it always existed for them.

I'm not convinced Regina had magical powers from the beginning. She didn't even know how to use magic. The only person who can make deals of that magnitude, as far as I know, is Rumple. It is an assumption, but I really don't think Regina had those powers all along.

Found this from the Once Upon A Time Wiki :

Regina stole her mother's spell book which she unknowingly used to summon its creator, Rumplestiltskin.. Reading further it says that Rumple taught Regina how to use magic. So this means that Regina's mother used magic created by Rumple. So clearly it would stand to reason that Rumple is more powerful than her mother. Rumple does admit that he is more powerful, so I'm wondering why all the fuss and concern over Regina's mother.

Interesting. Well, there's rules and "all magic has its price," so maybe some of that still applies to Rumple and he can't just "do away" with her or the magic she now has.

Because the characxters act all worried, and even Rumple says they have to stop her before she gets there or things will be bad, etc. etc. if he is so powerful, let her come, kill her with his magic, done. But now, they make it out like her coming would be so much trouble.

Someone with a split personality as this, it's hard to feel anything since you don't know how she will act/react in the next sentence.

I felt sorry for Regina this last episode, but her mother did the job well framing her..

Not for me it isn't! I've always thought she's been a sympathetic character.

If you are on Regina's side then you are known as an Evil Regal in the Once lexicon.

Best episode of this series in a long, long time. Almost perfect. Afterwards I was thinking about it and I realized why. It focused on Rumple. He really makes this show shine weather he is rumple or he is Mr. Gold. His story, everything is way way more interesting then anything else on the show and he plays him soooo well.

Robert Carlyle is a really good actor. He's been on my radar since Trainspotting. I was disappointed he did not receive a Golden Globe nomination for this show. He really seems to enjoy it.

I thought it was, "go take yourself for a walk', but my mind isn't what it used to be. Either way, it was funny.

How long before they find a cure for Belle? Hate to see that character written out of the series.

They haven't found a cure for whatshisname dwarf that first tried to leave and got amnesia... so either they haven't had any ideas or weren't motivated to try too hard.

I am sure that all that memory stuff will be touched upon in the next episode.

+1

As you said, I'm sure Gold will be much more motivated to fix Belle than he ever was to fix the dwarf.

So I guess since we have Frankenstein and a Werewolf does that mean that next season we get Dracula or a Mummy?
And since Frankenstein doesn't appear in "The Book" that pretty much opens up the show to anything the writers want to throw at it.

Next week, Emma and Gold spend 8 hours in Hartsfield-Jackson due to flight delays. I mean, if a Delta flight schedule isn't fiction, I don't know what is.

I hoping to see a live specimen of The Krell race...

Just love how they took the time to explain why Frankenstien was in this story and acknowledged he as not part of this mythology.

Maybe the only cure to the amnesia is returning back to "their world", I hope they do because I really like the actress...

Looking forward for the "Rumple/Emma" trip to find his son and wondering if the stranger will bring maybe a film crew to Storybrooke

Yeah, Jar Jar could pop up out of the water anytime, now that Disney owns Star Wars. Big rolleyes moment for the ring tone a couple weeks ago.

What? Nobody else noticed the nice, cool +9500K "black and white" color grade during the Frankenstein scenes? And you people call yourselves home theater enthusiasts? ... tisk, tisk ...
